As head of the Nazi Party Chancellery, Bormann had a strong desire for power, just like Göring. In a part of the plan to get rid of Göring, Bormann sends a telegram to Göring that Hitler is in a bad condition, so Göring should take command. Göring thought this was an approved order from Hitler, and he sends a telegram asking Hitler for permission to hand over full power. Hitler didn't know any of this, and he thought Göring betrayed him. Only some minor things regarding the subtitles: in the extended cut Rochus Misch calls Traudl "Misses" instead of "Miss" (she was married) and when Bormann reads the telegram Göring writes" based on your decision to stay in the fortress of Berlin". And the communication unit has "defected" not "withdrawn". Indeed they have fled, not just retreated.
We see Speer later in this scene, but he left the bunker on the 22nd while Goring sent the telegram on the 23rd, another inaccuracy from one of the most accurate Nazi films.
This film is one of the most accurate movies I've ever seen, the fact that most would consider that one of the major inaccuracies is amazing rip Bruno Ganz
What intrigues me most about this film is how there is not a single scene where women's fear of the prospect of rape is clearly portrayed, nor are there any references to the mass rapes committed by the Soviets.
Well it ends when the Soviets take Berlin, and most of the film focuses on the final days of the third Reich, there's also only so much you can portray in 2 hours, I think it done an excellent job

They forgot to include the part Bormann altered the letter to make it sound even more drastic so Hitler could eliminate Goring.
