Cross Country Road Trip 🌽 (3,200 miles, 40+ hours) from California to New Jersey | USA VLOG
if you're from the US, did I drive through your state?!
TX~
New Jerseyyyyyyyy
YES! You went through Grand Junction! I am 65 miles south of there in Montrose!!!
Americans: Why is she holding her dog like a baby?
We were driving through a heat wave so a lot of the time the roads were too hot for his paws and could burn him but also he’s a baby and likes to be held lol
I hope I get to see you in person one day and thank you face to face for showing that little things in life matter and we just need to appreciate it before demanding for big things. Your videos made me realize that there is so much to see in this world. Thank you, Cari. You are amazing and appreciated. 💕
😭😭😭 thank YOU so much!!!
Cari really is amazing and so very much appreciated. I live in the Midwest and seeing you experience it, made me appreciate it even more.
@@caricakes no, Cari. Thank You! 😊❤
Road trips have an unexplainable, magical quality about them. Some of my favorite memories are driving for miles on end and looking at the scenery with everything I need just an arm's reach from me. Thanks for filming this Cari it brought u many emotions.
You’re right! I really thought I’d need music or a book but just staring out the window was enough for me 😍
Same here. Got emotions...
Louie is literally the cutest, sweetest dog I've ever seen in my life 😭💕
he really is the best :''''')
which dog breed is louie?
Me, as a European: what a big, spaceous car, loui must be having a great time!
Cari: I hope you don't think we're abusing loui...
😂
😂😂😂😂😂
I've done this trip twice and it's definitely a reminder that the country is beautiful and BIG!!! As a former Californian, I had to get use to the "Southern hospitality" in Georgia. Random people saying hello and at first, I was kinda taken aback but now, I have come to appreciate it. Thank you for sharing your trip with us.
lol i was like...why are you going SO far out of your way to take care of me??? ahahhahah and thank you!!
Are Californians not friendly?
Asking because I'm curious how the "norm" differs from state to state in the US.
My friend went to college in Illinois, and was quite overcome by Midwestern politeness.
Granted we're from a country where pleases and thank yous aren't given, nor expected.
@@MC-ko2mx californians are nice but its more like we treat strangers like friends while midwest people treat you immediately like family haha
@@caricakes That's a good analogy.
My friend did say everyone was super nice, and wasn't sure if that was an Urbana-Champaign thing, or a Midwestern thing in general.
Thanks for taking the time to film bits of your trip back home and share these with us! These vlogs have been so relaxing and joyful to watch. :)
Thank you so much for being a part of it!!
Louie knows how to long trip.
he was built for this hahahha
This reminded me a lot of when I was younger and my dad was a long-haul delivery driver and we used to go on trips through the mid-west and just stumble into these small towns. I always found it incredible to see how people are living in these relatively unknown places. Driving for that long definitely takes its toll though and I used to nap at times I didn't even know I was tired lol. Louis is also so chill about everything and looked like he was just loving life the whole way haha
yeah the end of the trip i slept for HOURS hahhaha and i think louie would be a great long haul driver companion!!
It's nice that your mom is gonna be closer to family ✨
I know this wasn't that kind of trip, but I just wanted to say that my goal in life is to be able to go on adventures like you do. Since Covid started, my hot- Italy-student-abroad-girl plans turned into sad- in the couch-thesis-confused-girl... Well. I just wanted to say that coming along your adventures kept me looking up for the future and all the things to come.
Excited to see what comes next both for you and me!
trying to look on the bright side, i tell myself that this is time to save as much money as you can and research more to make an even better trip once we're able to travel again!!! our time will come!!!!
I hope one day you can travel to Italy, Mavis! We will welcome you with a warm heart
@@marrykozakura9352 🤧 thank you ✨
Thank you for sharing such a personal moment with us! I really love roadtrip vlogs, makes me feel like I'm with y'all in the car. I watched the Safiya Nygaards moving vlog, she took her elderly cat with her on that "moving trip" across the US.. so don't worry about what others might think about you taking your dog with you in that car. You know what he's fine with, you know him the best. I really love the vibes in your videos, they've helped me through some tough times. Thank you so much, Cari!
Thank you so much 🥺 happy to have you along for the ride!
wish i could have snuck along in your suitcase hehe so glad to see you have a good time with your fam 💕
I love the intro to this vlog and all your observations. There's something about your state-side videos that come across as very effortless. It's apparent that you spent time going through footage and choosing where to put what clips together, but I like that it doesn't give off the vibe of being laborious. That you've gotten such an editing groove down that you get into the zone and it's even weirdly relaxing for you (and if I'm wrong, do tell!).
thank you so much!! i've gotten a lot better at deleting content that isnt necessary - in the past i tried to keep everything just so i didnt waste it! baby steps!!
I did a eastward road trip along the same route back home with a friend back in summer 2020 when we both finished school. Despite the gloomy feeling of leaving California against the backdrop of worldwide pandemic and social unrest across the nation, the trip was still nothing short of epic. There is simply no better way of saying goodbye to California by watching the palm trees and desert sands gradually turn into lush green fields as we drove east.
I love your commentary about the states and what your thinking during your trip! Its so nice to hear 😊
hehehe thank you!!
Thanks so much again Cari, your videos are such a treat to have at the end of the week.🥰
Thanks for giving me the best tour of America 🇺🇸 an Australian will ever get☺️
hahahha hope you can experience it yourself one day!!
Fellow Australian here and I couldn’t agree more!
It’s okay, Cari, Ohio is all cornfields and “hell is real” signs 😂 Louie is adorable and this is a lovely vlog!
I really love this video. I know I'm that weird viewer, who watches vlogs from years ago. But I love this video so much, it gives me such a comforting feeling! Thank you❤
Love road trips, thanks for sharing! I’m pretty sure the metal roofs in Colorado are to make the snow slide off, many people have metal roofs here in Maine too.
Ahhh so its snow related! Makes sense!! Thank you hehe
A 30 min vlog never felt so short😊 thank you for tagging us along, it was magical ✨✨💖
Thank YOU 😍
The metal roof is for snow. It allows the snow to fall off.
im from denver! the metal roofs are probably because we get a good amount of snow and hail in the state. and for the fractioned roads at least in the west part of the state near the utah border those are left over from when they were first settling and just felt lazy and named things based on how many miles it was from the state line so a road could like 65 1/2 miles from utah :)
As soon as I finish my homework, I'll relax with a tea and your video :) Thanks Cari
Good luck on the work 🥰🥰🥰
Loved this! Never been to the US so this was a treat to watch! The desert cliffs and canyons look amazing 😍Also, what the heck are those light catcher things?? Craziest futurist things I've ever seen!! 😂
the light catchers were mildly terrifying hahha and yeah seeing the terrain change is amazing!
Seeing as how it's in the middle of the desert, I would have legit thought it was a landed UFO LOL
The AMOUNT of times I paused this video to go onto maps and see where states in the US actually are 🥺Loved this video and that you shared this very personal journey. Love always from Australia 🦋🌞
bahhaha yeah the us is big and confusing :') thank you for coming along for the ride!
11:21 General Kenobi :D
Very nice vlog, Cari!
Omg 🤣🤣🤣 I love this so much
Thank you so much for this beautiful road trip video 😄
Crazy how in the eyes of our parents, no matter what our age, we're always going to be "kids " and seeing you in the back seat pretty much throughout the trip was pretty cute to watch, you are, even at your age, their baby girl 😁
Precious moments to keep and cherish 👍
Enjoy that time with them and totally agree that having a road trip with your parents beats taking a plane and that's it!
Thanks again 🌞
Hi Cari! Love you and your content, been following you for a few years now. First time commenting. My parents and I moved from HB, Cali. to CLT, NC by car years ago. I don’t remember much about the trip because I was only five but I do recall sitting in the car for many hrs. between states and staying at the roadside hotels. Louie is such a great traveler and such a cutie! Thank you for sharing your cross country travels with us!
hehehe thank you so much for coming along!! and louie knows he's cute ;))))
As someone originally from the east coast it is super easy to fall in love with CO. What was supposed to be a year or two has turned into 14+😂. I also live several thousand ft above Denver and the roofs are for snow so it melts faster.. This was so enjoyable to watch, even though I'm sure a lot of it was chaos. Props to you for amazing editing. Glad you all made it safe and are healthy. Thanks for sharing!🤗
hahahah thank you!! and yes colorado blew me away :') i can imagine it would be a hard place to leave!!
Louie is the best cross country companion. Adorable.
he's the bessssst!!!!
A minute in and my eyes are already watering 😭. I'm excited for this vlog and I hope you're feeling better after saying goodbye to your childhood home Cari! I'm sure new happy things and memories are ahead of you. Sending you so much love! ❤️✨🤗
thank you so much ahhhhh!!!!! its nice to be around family and familiar faces again so im feeling a lot better!
@@caricakes I'm glad you do!!! ❤️❤️
Oregan trail, Mississippi River. Had me rolling.
Oh school in the 90s. I think I always died of the measles.
dysentery LOL
Yusss! I was feeling quite bored! How have you been Cari? I hope you’re doing well! Tomorrow I’m going on a 3 day/2 night trip to San Francisco, so that’s fun! Thanks for filming bits of your trip for us even with you being quite a busy person!
I’m definitely doing well! Hope you’re doing well and that your SF trip is fantastic!!
@@caricakes ☺️♥️✨
as soon as the intro BGM played, i knew this was gonna be good 🤤 from now on, whenever i hear that song i will always remember skater boys TXT and how it’s a perfect bgm for long roadtrips like this 🙌 stay safe always, cari!!
😍😍😍😍😍
Ah, America. Land of the sandwiches :D. Thanks for taking us on this trip. It was super chill and great music choices.
This is so funny because I was searching for vlogs on driving cross country because I'm possibly about to do it again and I needed to see someone make it look exciting because I'm suddenly dreading it -- I found your video and the cover looked so aesthetically pleasing that I clicked it and *surprise surprise* it's your vlog and somehow I hadn't seen this one in my recent binging of your videos?!?! Saved a few spots you mentioned (like that clean restroom in Nebraska lol) so yay! Thanks for sharing!!!
Hi from Melbourne, Australia!! I love your content so much. This has been a nice watch in our 203rd day/6th lockdown 😭
sending you love and strength
melbourne resident here too ! stay safe, hopefully things are better soon
i used to live in melbs/syd stay strong from a London hardcore lockdown lol i tell my friends back in Aus be thankful Australia is on top of things and not mass infecting everyone like the Uk ... and you don't have Boris lol
Thank you for taking us with you on this emotional but beautiful journey. I've only ever been to Santa Ana and L.A., so it was glorious to see more of the beautiful country you come from.
thank you so much for coming along - you've seen really pretty parts of my country at least hehe
@@caricakes Absolutly! Cali very much agreed with me, too, I must admit. Best hair days of my life. 😂
As always, watching your vlogs makes me pause, step back, and appreciate the little things (that matter). Living in a fast paced world is such a pressure so knowing I have a place to turn to, to slow things down for me is such a blessing. Thank you Cari! This video made me cry.
I was so shocked to see that you visited Gothenburg, haha! Didn’t know it existed in the US. Greetings from someone who lives in Gothenburg, Sweden! 🌸
omg that makes two of you!! someone else commented they're from that city too hehehe that makes me so happy :)
It’s funny that you mention that but in my opinion people in Indianapolis are just THE friendliest! I'm Swiss and I travelled several months in the US and I went to Indianapolis twice. I only have good memories of that place 😃
that is a good dog.
Best dog 🥺
Very random but your hair goes so well with all the roadtrip landscape aesthetics 🌝
bahah thank you!
Hi Cari, it's great to have you back with us.
That is some trip your on.
I like your parents are on the move, but i'm only moving 20 mins west of where I am now.
I am surrounded by boxes, I have started packing this afternoon.
I have been here for 14 years, so I have mixed feelings about the move.
I am hoping that the new place is a lot quieter than where I am now.
The new place is a blank canvass as far as furniture is concerned, so I have spent the last 3 days viewing and purchasing all that I need.
Glad you told us the reason for such a long move away from where you were.
Thank you for sharing the trip with us, bet you and your dog are glad to have reached your destination, you can now get some decent walks.
Bet your missing Kurt, he'll be thinking the same of you.
Take good care Cari.
😄XX
best of luck with your move!! im sure it will come with lots of stress and mixed emotions but soon it will feel like home :) im happy to be heading back to korea this week - its been too long!!
@@caricakes Stressful it has been, and still is, but i'm trying to be organised, and thinking things through..... I will get there.
I hope you have a safe trip back to Korea.
I often wonder how you cope with being in such a small flat, especially after growing up in such a spacious family home, I hope you and Kurt end up somewhere nice with a garden.
Got to get to bed now, another big day tomorrow.
Take good care.
😄XX
Your US vlog was amazing ! Thank you so much for sharing with us, you made us travel 😊
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
Who doesn't love road trips?!?!?!? Thanks, Cari for taking us with you.
Thank you for taking us on this wonderful American road trip . I enjoyed it soo much through your eyes Cari . I love the states, having lived on the east coast for 5 yrs .. and it made me homesick watching your vlogg . Can t wait to visit my son out there again very soon xxxx🥰🥰🥰 love Karen 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Road trips in the USA feel so mysterious and magical. It's a whole different level of beauty, especially the countrysides, the mountains, the lands...
it really is!!
You said it Never again !! means everything of your trip to New Jersey . lol 26:57
Reminds me of being a kid. Many hours of Pokemon Yellow were played on our cross country road trips.
the song choice the viewsss omg it was so fun to watchh 😭😭😭
wahhh thank you!!!
That drive across the US is amazing. America is such a big and diverse country with may scenic landmarks. Thanks for sharing.
Your video is fantastic and helpful in planning a trip to the USA. Thank you very much!!!
i went on a road trip to disney with my family this past week and oh my god the jesus-core was LEGIT. like the entire feel of the southern part of this video i can just f e e l.
It was pretty aggressive hahhaha
I love a good American road trip! Thanks for taking us along!
heheh thanks for joining^^
What a great vlog Cari! Thank you for sharing your wonderful family, your beautiful home and your trip across the US! I was thrilled when you mentioned that your parents are considering making their new home in Pennsylvania. I live in PA and more lovely people is exactly what we need.
Hope the rest of your trip and possible house hunting are going famously well. Can’t wait for more of your adventures to post.
I could not love Louie more 💓
"land of... many choices", that's very diplomatic 👌 made me lmao 🤣
😉
I loveeee road trips even though they can be exhausting. Love watching change in landscape and endless music playing and random smiles as you meet eyes with friends or family you are travelling with. Thanks for sharing this girl take care!!
I love Louie! My dog (who reminds me a lot of Louie) did not appreciate Louie on the tv! Lol
Hi Cari. Been watching your vlogs for years now. You never fail to bring us something new. Keep up the artistry. Lovelots xx
25:52 omggg that plant vase reminds me of those shoes with plants growing in it that you found in that park in Korea
TERRIFYING
One of my closest friends lives in Hershey, PA. Can’t wait to visit there again!
love hershey!!!
I live about a hour east of Hershey
this is one of the best vlog I've watched. i got introduced to this side of America
Thank you!!!
Have made that exact trip over 15 times, driving from San Diego to the Midwest. It’s my favorite road trip to make. So beautiful.
Super late but I like hearing people from Indianapolis were friendly and nice. It is a Midwest thing but still nice to hear.
Good to watch you spend a lot of time with your mom and dad traveling long distance. A little bit curious if you are the only child
yes, im an only child! just me and louie :)
Es que yo amo los videos de esta chica 🌺✨
🥺 gracias
Watching this vlog on a sunny morning and I find it very comforting ♥️ The clips you took, the music, your comments, everything made it so relaxing :) Thanks Cari!
Haha you getting excited over trees in Nebraska reminded me of Namjoon 😂 You do have similarities!
I absolutely love your vlogs Cari 🥰 They're such calming escapism for me, especially at the moment when life is equal parts hugely stressful and monotonous. I'm planning a long trip overseas in 2023 (if Australia finally opens its borders!) and your videos remind me of why I love to solo travel ✈️
Omg i felt the same delighted surprise when driving through Nebraska once! Their conservatory was beautiful
I'm in Wisconsin and grew up in Illinois. When my dad passed away in California my husband and 2 daughters and I drove his Chevy Cavalier from California to Wisconsin. It was a lot of time in a very small 🚗. We went through Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas. Loved New Mexico.
I love the vibe of this Video. Very enjoyable to watch 😊
Your road trip segments are beautiful!
Brilliant song selection, I always import everything to my playlist.
Ty so much, lotsa love🖤
Louie is truly a super dog! Colorado is looking like where i'd choose to live! Sooooo beautiful.
he's the best! and it was stunnnnning!
Aww yay welcome to Jersey/PA! I was born and raised in Washington, NJ and then moved to Easton, PA. Live south of Indianapolis now(we are a military family). We just were stationed in Korea and miss it SO much! Anyway glad you made it safely and best of luck to your family as they embark on this next new chapter. 😊
Your dad at 8:55 sounded like a mix of Johnny Bravo and Santa Claus 😂😂
wow what a treat! i enjoyed every moment of this vlog, man i visually needed that road trip as I'm sat in my bed in London on a rainy Sunday this video made me remember how big and wide the world is out there, been round and round the same area in London since last year that i'd forgotten. cant wait to see the next vlog :D
Utah resident here! Glad you enjoyed our desert! It makes me appreciate it more to hear out of state people talk about its beauty
i had never seen anything like it!!
The Midwest footage has me so homesick 😭 I moved to Nevada a few months ago and I miss grass and greenery! Also, I feel you about the anxiety around deserts. It was a change from spending my whole life surrounded by prairie 🌻
luckily nevada has lots of little oasis to find and break up that desert hehehe but your home/prairie is really beautiful :')
OMG! the song in the intro is the one TXT used in their individual member teasers for their new album! i was wondering if you first heard of it from there since it only has a little over 40 thousand plays on spotify 😅
YES IT IS 👏👏👏 i had shazam open on that SO FAST and when i saw it was available on the music service i use for youtube i had to put it in hahha
Thank you Cari for giving us a fascinating video, I'm from the UK where you're never more than 70 miles from the coast so the vastness of the US is mind boggling.
people in korea used to ask me when i was going home for xmas, would i see my parents AND my grammy and i had to remind them there's a 6 hour flight in between hahaha
I've also done a road trip from Boston to LA, and this video reminded me of the memories. I love this vid, and always enjoying your channel as well!
Thank you 💕💕💕
Which route did you take? Traveling from bos to La next week 😊
Loved watching your road trip! The odd street numbers in CO, like 25 1/2, is really just in Grand Junction. I lived there for a few years and that was the only place that I remember that had these odd street numbers.
How strange!! I wonder who thought that was a good idea hahhaa
@@caricakes There is a reason because I asked the same thing when I moved there. I believe it has to do with how far away the state line is to Utah.
In Argentina the metal roof became popular because they are easy to install, resistant to hail storms and are inexpensive. hugs from Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Heheh Illinois lots of trees and lots of corn! Welcome to my neck of the woods - but if you ever find yourself in the Midwest again Cari, Chicago is gem and you will be enamored by our Windy City. Your West Virginia to New Jersey potion of your trip reminded me of when I drove to New York with my young daughters for a summer vacation a few years ago! All those high hilly drives and beautiful views 😂❤️ good times and good memories! Thanks for sharing this part of your journey! Best of luck to your parents as they transition to their new home!!
thank you so much!! and YES! kurt and i want to visit chicago so badly. i've been to the airport countless times but have never stepped a foot outside. Hopefully that changes in the near future :)
Yes def come during the summer and since you love music - good food and good people - Lolla might be an amazing experience for ya!!
Your road trip reminded me of when my husband and I moved from Florida to California (SF Bay Area) with our dog and cat. It took us seven days. We took the southern route. For me, leaving California was very upsetting, so I cried most of the flight back to my country. Thank you for sharing your road trip.
YESSIR JERSEY REPRESENTATION!
Your videos are so beautiful and relaxing. This makes me so nostalgic and reminded me of my own family’s road trip/move from California to NC. Thank you for this!
It's great you got to do this trip with your family, what great memories. And this trip sounded like a rite of passage, to a new chapter in your life :)
The voiceover and the music in the intro totally had me feeling like I'd stumbled into a Sofia Coppola filmset?
Dreamy.
Thank you for taking us along on your very epic road trip.
As someone with friends scattered across the US (California, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, New York), I was literally playing connect-the-dots.
It's on my bucket list to road trip my way across the States one day (and possibly visit said friends along the way).
This video just confirms it would be a good idea.
ps: Louie is a sweetie, and a cutie, and *a very good boy*
Am a newish subscriber, so I don't know much about him yet.
How old is Louie?
And what breed is he?
Omg thank you 🥺 and that sounds like a dream trip!! Louie is from the shelter and we’ve had him 8 years so he’s probably 9 or 10? And he’s some very strange but lovable mix lol maybe some chihuahua and american eskimo?
@@caricakes Yas!
I thought Louie had some chihuahua in him.
What an amazingly chill boy Louie is.
My late dog, would have driven herself, and all of us mad.
And probably barked her head off at everything in sight.
Still love her, and her diva antics though LOL
But I do appreciate dogs with a laidback personality, and Louie definitely qualifies.
Glad he found a home with you, and is making the move East with your parents.
I suspect he'll settle in at lightspeed, he's so chill.
Catching up with your vids after a few weeks. Leaving a comment for the algorithm
I brought my GSD from Chicago to NJ but I want to take him from NJ to California now!
Interesting to see Amercia through your lense. Enjoy the rest of your stay.
Thank you!
👋🏻❤🇫🇮 here i'm, greetings from finland.
Beautiful video in many way.
Thank you always 🥳
Louie is such a delight, that dog has my heart 💕
Awesome Road trip Cari !! It was very very interesting well captured moments !!
Awh! We love watching videos like this. We live on our sailboat, sailing the world so enjoy watching likeminded adventurers share their stories. Keep the content coming! Maybe we will cross paths out there someday :)
I'm not from Colorado but I know stuff about metal roofs. A metal roof won't wear as hard under wet and cold conditions, and during fall when trees shed their leaves, they add a lot of weight and wear, holding water and decomposing. Metal roofs allow that matter to slide off easier, whereas an asphalt roof with shingles would generally need to be maintained more to remove it so it doesn't build up to rot through.
Also Colorado is technically in a desert, and metal roofs reflect a lot of sunlight instead of absorbing heat like more traditional roofs.
Metal roofs have a lot of economical and energy saving benefits over time! They're also very cute and they sound wonderful when it rains 😌
Absolutely loved this vlog, very much enjoyed watching, thank you! Louie is seriously the cutest ever! Thank you for bringing us along on the adventure!
thanks for being along for the ride!!
Thank you for being so calm! I am traveling cross country from Georgia to Idaho next month and I'm so nervous! Love the video.
