Hi! I just came across your channel! I’m from Alberta so it’s super nice to see Canadian homeschool RUclipsrs! 😊 Thanks for the Canadian content ideas. I used Math-U-See for math for 4 years and I really appreciated the Canadian edition they have. This year we’re switching to Masterbooks math and I’m really thinking about US vs Canadian money and measurements and temperature… but I do have copies of the “Canadian curriculum” books so maybe we’ll supplement with that at bit… Favourite homeschool company… We use My Father’s World for our core curriculum. It’ll be our third year and I’m super loving it. Soooo biblical and the geography and history we’ve done so far has been so eye opening. We do use Story of the World as part of that so that’s been good too. I’ve also been using IEW for writing and grammar. I agree 100% that the Fix It! Grammar was just as much for me as for them! I was in French immersion too so I feel like I knew none of the grammar terminology! Lol! (My kids will be gr 7,5,3 and SrK) Thanks again for this video! 😊👍
Hi mama! ❤️ so happy that you found my channel! I love connecting with other Canadian moms! I've never been to Alberta but would love to visit... it looks so beautiful! Thanks for sharing all your curriculum! I love hearing about what other moms are using and their experiences with different curriculums! Your kids ages are so great! I hope you have an amazing new year!
We did a different money curriculum as a supplement!!! I love masterbooks for both science and bible!!! My 4 year old does play based science without a curriculum and my older kids do science together apart from my older daughter who needs extra science!!!
I have the Story of the World set, but haven’t started it. Child’s History of the World feels similar but is for younger kids. My son enjoys it! It’s not picture heavy. We do have the Audible version as well.
God bless you , I'm a new subscriber and I'm on my second year homeschooling. I don't have a favorite curriculum yet since most of the books I've been using was discount store, dollar tree workbooks, some books from evan Moore workbooks, I and I recently had bought master books. I'm a mommy of 4 and pregnant. May God bless you and your family.
Hi Cynthia! So glad to connect! You sound like me in my first year! I didn't choose a curriculum... my son was in kindergarten and I just had my 2nd son. My first year homeschooling I didn't use a formal curriculum as I was still deciding what I wanted to do! God bless you mama and hope you enter the giveaway ❤️ thanks for being here!
Hi Gina..so glad and happy to be part of your journey..im a a grandma in SA looking after my grandkids also do some homeschooling for the kids in our area ...i am so inspired and tho i dont own a laptop or computer i write out most of the resources. Thank u for all the ideas it helps a lot. OH!! happy Holidays
So glad you are here and I am so glad the flip throughs and shares help! I love watching these types of videos too. I love my wooden map too! I gave one away on my Instagram last year as a giveaway! Hoping one day I'll be able to give another one ❤️🙌 it's a bit expensive but in my opinion so worth the investment!
Nice to see a fellow Canadian homeschooler... Hard to find for some reason 😜 we seem to have similar taste. Those are my go tos for shopping curriculum
@@lifewithginab yes I will. I went to a curriculum show and share last weekend. The Yesteryear Gazette is what I actually am liking more for myself than the kids. I have 6 yr old twin boys and a 3 yr old daughter but I thought they would be good to have for read aloud. At least for now but the gazette seemed so neat!
Fix it grammar is sooo amazing! We are on week 10 and my daughter caught on so fast. She did one week in one day and did just great! She is also third grade!!
Love seeing all the great additions to your homeschool! Figuring out the "official" grade for kids is definitely something confusing--I have one with a birthday in spring and one with a late fall birthday, so I think that even though they are a year and a half apart in age, they will end up being two grades apart "officially"--which I'm totally fine with, it leaves more time for all the preschool fun with my tiny guy. ;) I'm totally okay with doing some kinder-level stuff during pre-K, though.
Congratulations on the 1K subscribers! Thank you for the sneak peek! I enjoyed seeing your supplement for Canadian Money. Our favorite curriculum brand is the Good and the Beautiful, but we also supplement with other curriculums with extra workbooks from brands like Explode the Code and Abeka. We are always on the look out for something we should add in. Your spelling choice of 180 Days looks great! I have been debating on that one. Thanks again! :)
Thank you so Much!!! Explode the code is definitely a favorite around here too... I have levels all the way up to 4 already bought that's why I don't have them here in the haul lol.. I love watching videos like this too... so I am glad you enjoyed! Thanks for sharing your favorites! So far 180 days of spelling has been great! ❤️🙌
Congratulations on 1k subscribers! 🎉 I always love your videos. So fun that my kids are in the same grade as Nicholas and using the same core curriculum. I looked at story of the world and Masterbooks for history but I decided on Notgrass. So we’ll see how we like it. We haven’t done a formal history curriculum before.
Thank YOU SO much!! ❤️ I've heard of Notgrass before... but I haven't looked too much into it... now I'm curious lol! I hope you all love it ❤️ thank you for being here and for your kind words... they mean so much!
Awwwww More Than Words was so great for my boys! We have moved on to another Bible curriculum because they are ready to go deeper, but it was so great when they were 6 and 8.
Yes totally agree the shipping is expensive 😵💫 I try to put an order 2x a year max and they sometimes have a coupon code (rarely) but that helps! It's so nice that it's free!! Totally agree!
Hi! New to your channel and fellow Canadian! I was wondering what did you use for spelling in the first grade? I used Abeka when my 19,21,and 25 year olds were in grade school (I dint homeschool high school). This time around...I’m much more eclectic. I found the good and the beautiful from my sister in law and I absolutely LOVE it. Now, I’m only 3 weeks in. Long story, but I pulled my son from school at the end of April. He now is thriving at home!!!!!! Also any 🇨🇦money books for grade 1 that you could suggest would be amazing. Thanks Carla....
Hi Carla!!! I am so glad you are here!! 🇨🇦 ❤️ and so glad that you are starting to homeschool your son! I hope you enjoy it! So for the 1st grade I actually just used the good and beautiful spelling but after using it I wanted to try something else because the way they do spelling is a bit challenging for my son when he was in the 1st grade. I tried Evan-Mor and my son didn't like it too much. And we tried a couple of others and finally found 180 days of spelling this year... if I knew about 180 days of spelling when my son was in the 1st grade I would probably have used it. It does have the more traditional approach though, so that's something to consider. I am going to link some books I used for Canadian math for my son in a seperate comment and also leave you how we do a language arts lesson link where I show a bit of inside of the 180 days of spelling work book. It's for the 2nd grade but you can kind of see inside of it and get an idea. If you are looking into a more non traditional approach spelling you see is also a great option! Have you tried the spelling from the good and the beautiful... did you not like it?
@@lifewithginab so, my son has had 0 yes I mean ZERO grade 1 schooling this year. The school would not listen to us or the 3 specialist that we provided. Our son suffered great neglect and abuse the first 4.5 years of his life. Because of this he has be formally diagnosed with childhood PTSD and he also has extreme ADHD. So after the last straw broke, where my son came home with a nail gauge in his leg and he telling me he was picked up by his legs and dragged....I pulled him. Since he has had no grade 1 schooling, as all they did in his 45-120 min class was play...I’m NOT kidding...I put him in the K program for the good and the beautiful. I do plan to homeschool him through the summer in hopes of getting him where his “grade” level should be. He is the smartest kids I know. We started math 2 weeks ago too and he is almost on chapter 8. Language he does 2-3 lessons a day and retains it all. I will slow him down if he doesn’t continue to remember what he has learned...I just knew when I tested him, he wasn’t placing in Level 1. He could barely read. He was at a JK reading level. Long story short...told ya, it is complicated lol...he is on K now and hoping by January he’ll be on level 1. I just have to decide if I continue to use the “older” version of the downloads or use the newer ones. I did go ahead and purchase all their “old” level readers for 1 and 2. So much going on and so much to ponder lol....but like I said he is thriving now and our relationship is too!!!!
@@carlabrodhagen2884 wow Carla I am almost in tears! Your son is so strong as you are too!! Level K from the good and the beautiful is advanced so I wouldn't worry too much about him being at a certain level. You seem like you are doing amazing and yes go at his pace! You are amazing mama! Hugs to you and your sweet boy ❤️🌺
There are a lot of subjects we love from Masterbooks! We just recently started using Rod and Staff as well and have been enjoying that also!😊 Thanks for sharing all the goodies you're planning to use!
I am so interested in learning more about Rod and Staff! I've heard great things! And so excited to try Masterbooks! Thank you so much for watching ❤️🌺
@@lifewithginab So far, we've only tried their Math. And it has been very helpful. No frills, no games. Just straight to the point. I tried to forewarn my daughter that it might be a little boring compared to the other programs we've tried in the past, but to my surprise, she's told me this has been her favorite math! Win-win for both of us!🙌🏾🎉
@@kayking3313 now I'm super curious! I am going to check it out and watch some videos if I can find some! I sometimes wonder if my son would love the straight to the point approach... he does really well with what we have been doing... but the homeschool mom in me always wonders haha! 😅
Thanks for sharing! If I had to pick ONE curriculum...right now it would be logic of English foundations. So many other great options though:) Saskatchewan is different from Ontario in that we don't have jr kindergarten. I remember when I nannied in ON that the 4 year old went to JK, but it's not a thing here. And I totally agree about the currency in math curriculums! We have been using math mammoth international money chapters, even though we don't use MM as our regular curriculum. They just have several international options for currency which is nice. 👌🏽 Math has been hardest for me to settle on, so I can understand sampling a few options 😅😅 I hope you love your choices! The link to enter for your giveaway isn't working- maybe it's just my phone though. Or maybe I would have to unsubscribe and resubscribe.. that's ok- it's likely just on my end. Congrats on 1K!
I think we can relate on math! So interesting about Saskatchewan! Thanks for sharing! So if you go on the link click on "subscribe to my channel here" and then go back and enter your email it should work... I know it can be confusing! 😶 Let me know if it works... I would love to have you enter ❤️🙏
@@lifewithginab I tried another time and opened the entry form in chrome rather than in the RUclips app, and that worked to pull up the email box for whatever reason ❤️👍🏼👍🏼
We absolutely love the Let’s Talk Science from Masterbooks! We started the level 2 last year with my now 7 year old and 10 year old. We all enjoy the short lessons and cute experiments!! We also use TGTB math. The new version really made my kids love math even more!! We’re still trying to figure out LA for my 10 year old. She didn’t enjoy their LA so right now I’m piecing together, but I’d prefer an all in 1 curriculum. We’ll be trying IEW for this upcoming year 🤞🏻 and praying she likes it! Wishing you a great next homeschool year!! 💗
I've only bought part of my curriculum for my three. I'm saving for Good&Beautiful for the rest. My youngest really enjoyed their Simply Math this year. I'd really like to put in for the card draw. Congratulations on reaching1000 subscribers!
LOL it's so nice right? 😍 the website is your world map EU ... I gave one away on my Instagram before! I might do another giveaway for it in the future 😉 it's definitely an investment but it's so nice! yourworldmap.eu/products/wooden-world-map
First time watching your channel😊! I love the supplements you used and the bible addition in your haul! I am trying out A Gentle Feast this coming fall. And doing the science unit for young children from TGATB this summer. So excited to start!
So happy you are here Sarai! Thank you so much for watching! We have been loving the new unit from the good and the beautiful for littles! And I've heard great things about Gentle Feast! ❤️
Nice haul!! I love TGTB's LA and SOTW. I think Ontario is the only province that does jr/sr kindergarten as I've never heard of it in the provinces I've lived in.
Ontario decided to split the regular kindergarten program over 2 years to be able to offer more play based through the early years. They also wanted to offer an alternative to daycare expenses. That's why we have a jk and sk, although back in the years jk wasn't full time at first
@@katiacleroux7376 yes I remember! Back in day it was half for both jk and sk and then they changed it to full days I think when I was in highschool. Thanks for sharing this! ❤️
Hi!! It's super beautiful and probably one of the best gifts I've received! It's a wooden map from your world map EU. I'll put a link here: yourworldmap.eu/products/wooden-world-map
If you end up wanting a curriculum that uses Canadian money, Christian Light Education has a Canadian math curriculum! It's worked really well for us this past year.
I will be working on a video sharing this very soon! But right now we are doing the traditional approach with 180 days of spelling and the good and the beautiful they do a lot of dictation in their language arts program which helps a lot! Hope to have that video out soon! ❤️
Great picks. My son loves TGTB math but also does so amazing with CLE and how they teach the concepts. I don't have a favorite but I will say my favorite has been All About Reading which we did in kindergarten and Abeka Language Arts for 1st grade. It's such a solid program.
Your world map EU! I'll link the website. It's so nice right? It's my favorite part of my homeschool space! I gave one away on my Instagram as a giveaway before... who knows maybe I will do another one in ghe future 😉 yourworldmap.eu/products/wooden-world-map
Our favorite right now is All about reading! There’s so many great curriculum options though and it’s fun to see what you chose! Congrats on 1k subscribers!
I stepped on a nail that went straight into the bottom of my foot when I was a teenager, ouch! My mom is loving Story of the World with my youngest sister right now.
Aww you have some good choices!!! I really wanted to try Story of the World. Maybe once my younger two are older we will try it. I hope you all have a good end to your homeschool year. We are working hard to wrap this baby up lol 😆
Yes same here! My daughter was kind of sad that we can’t finish next Friday and we have to extend our school for one more week. I told her it will be worth it in the end. 🥺
@@brittanyolga that's awesome!! I think we will only finish end of June! But we take July and August off. That's so exciting that you all are so close to enjoying your time off 🙌❤️
It varies by state when you child can start school based on their birthday. Overall in the US it's Pre-Kindergarten and then kindergarten. In NY as long as your child turns 4 before December 31st they can start pre-k. For some states the child has to turn 4 before the school year starts which is August or September.
TGTB is hands down our favorite curriculum company! I have tried so many others that just frustrated me and my children. I’m so grateful for that company! ❤️
Hi Gina! Big congratulations on 1k subscribers, so well deserved! I have been really enjoying your content. I have only tried a handful of curriculums, I know the ones I definitely don’t like haha. At the moment my girls are loving The Good and the Beautiful. What a wonderful kind giveaway! Hope you have a blessed week. From Gina☺️💛
Congrats on 1k subscribers! I’d have to say my fav curriculum is TGTB. I’ve been debating on the More than Words Bible curriculum for next year, looks sooo good.
So many good curriculum picks! My favorite is definitely the good and the beautiful, but I’ll also be doing a little bit from Abeka and master books for my oldest going into first grade in the fall! Super excited to use the new(ish) preschool course from tgtb for my will-be 4 year old!
Our oldest is going into grade 1 this coming school year so we have only begun our journey. Based on videos watched, The Good and the Beautiful would be a favourite for science and eventually L.A.. We are using Animated Literacy for reading and writing this year and things around the house for math.
4 year olds are typically what we call Pre-K or some places call it K4. 5 year olds go to Kindergarten, which is the first official “grade.” Even then, in most states kindergarten isn’t required, but I literally don’t know anyone who hasn’t sent their kid to kindergarten.
It's so interesting hearing the lingo used in the states compared to Canada. I should have added that you don't have to put your kids here in Canada until gade 1 (6 years old). Thanks for sharing!! 🌺
My kids are LOVING the Simply Math by TGTB! We did the old version too, and it is SO much better. My oldest is finishing up Level 3, and she went from “ehh Math” to it being her favorite subject!
You should check out Christian Light Education math curriculum. They have a Canadian Math Version for 1st and 2nd grade. I love C.L.E. for Language Arts. Reading and Math.
Oh my goodness!! The nail went through his boot!?! 😬😬😬 Michael got stabbed by a rake the other day in his foot and it was a whole thing. Not fun! So sorry!
I would love to know what you think comparing the two math curriculums you had in this video. I can't decide what to do for math next year. We did Singapore Math this year. Also, where in Canada are you from? We are from Michigan. We also love using TGATB for LA! ❤️
Nice Michigan!! We are from Ontario! I believe from the city Sault ste. Marie in Ontario is a couple of hours from Michigan. I will definitely do a comparison for the math curriculums! ❤️
@@lifewithginab we took the kids to the Soo Locks last fall while we stayed in the UP for a few weeks! It was a fun and educational stop. I can't believe how big some of those boats are!! 😳

Money work books:

This one has money in it and other concepts too... but u really like it

Here i show you a bit of how we do a lesson but also using the spelling curriculum 180 days of spelling

So many other great options though:)
Saskatchewan is different from Ontario in that we don't have jr kindergarten. I remember when I nannied in ON that the 4 year old went to JK, but it's not a thing here. And I totally agree about the currency in math curriculums! We have been using math mammoth international money chapters, even though we don't use MM as our regular curriculum. They just have several international options for currency which is nice. 👌🏽
Math has been hardest for me to settle on, so I can understand sampling a few options 😅😅 I hope you love your choices!
@@kendraparks3271 yay! Awesome! Glad it worked ❤️🙌
Thank you so much for sharing! I hope you find what works best and have a great year! ❤️
I've only bought part of my curriculum for my three. I'm saving for Good&Beautiful for the rest. My youngest really enjoyed their Simply Math this year. I'd really like to put in for the card draw. Congratulations on reaching1000 subscribers!
And thanks for sharing your choices. It helps those of us on small budget to not buy what wouldn't work and find what might.🙂
So happy it was helpful !! Thank you so much for watching ❤️❤️❤️
OMG! I love your map behind you, where did you get that?
LOL it's so nice right? 😍 the website is your world map EU ... I gave one away on my Instagram before! I might do another giveaway for it in the future 😉 it's definitely an investment but it's so nice!

You are right! How interesting that we are the only one who offer Jr kindergarten! Thank you for watching ❤️
Wow so many awesome additions! Love to see a review 😍👏🏻
Thank you so much! ❤️
Hi, where did you get the map behind you??love it
Hi!! It's super beautiful and probably one of the best gifts I've received! It's a wooden map from your world map EU.

We love The Good and The Beautiful.
It's a great curriculum!! 🙌❤️
Wow, great selections. Can’t wait for a review after.
Thank you!!! Will be glad to share! 🌺
If you end up wanting a curriculum that uses Canadian money, Christian Light Education has a Canadian math curriculum! It's worked really well for us this past year.
Thanks for sharing! I've heard great things about Christian Light.. will take a look! 🙂❤️
Do you mind sharing which spelling methods you have used?
I will be working on a video sharing this very soon! But right now we are doing the traditional approach with 180 days of spelling and the good and the beautiful they do a lot of dictation in their language arts program which helps a lot! Hope to have that video out soon! ❤️
Ugh, it’s so tough to pick one favorite curricula. I guess I have to say, at this moment, it’s probably TGTB or Torchlight. ❤️
There's so many great curriculums out there!! ❤️🌺
Great picks. My son loves TGTB math but also does so amazing with CLE and how they teach the concepts. I don't have a favorite but I will say my favorite has been All About Reading which we did in kindergarten and Abeka Language Arts for 1st grade. It's such a solid program.
I would love to try abeka and all about reading one day! I've heard so many good things!!!
Can you compare the CLe math to the TGaTB? We’ve used both too but for the summer taking a break from cle and working through the tgatb math.
@@JaiBeesCrochet yes I am definitely going to do a video on comparing the 2 math curriculums. I'm hoping to have it done in June.
@@HerDailyJourney would love to watch this too 👀

Our favorite right now is All about reading! There’s so many great curriculum options though and it’s fun to see what you chose! Congrats on 1k subscribers!
Thank you so much!! ❤️ I've heard amazing things about All About Reading!
I stepped on a nail that went straight into the bottom of my foot when I was a teenager, ouch! My mom is loving Story of the World with my youngest sister right now.
That's painful!! My husband was limping for a couple of weeks... that week I was working homeschooling nurse mom 🤣
History intimidates me so much!
Aww you have some good choices!!! I really wanted to try Story of the World. Maybe once my younger two are older we will try it. I hope you all have a good end to your homeschool year. We are working hard to wrap this baby up lol 😆
Thanks Brit!!! ❤️ I know we are trying to wrap up stuff here while not trying to rush things either 😅🥴 thanks for watching ❤️

@@lifewithginab Thank You!! 🙏💕
I love the idea of taking the summer to try new curriculum! We have so much of the same curriculum ❤️
It's a nice way to experiment with different curriculums 😅 we do have much of the same curriculum! ❤️😁
It varies by state when you child can start school based on their birthday. Overall in the US it's Pre-Kindergarten and then kindergarten. In NY as long as your child turns 4 before December 31st they can start pre-k. For some states the child has to turn 4 before the school year starts which is August or September.
So interesting to hear this!! Thanks for sharing friend! Male's sense!
TGTB is hands down our favorite curriculum company! I have tried so many others that just frustrated me and my children. I’m so grateful for that company! ❤️
Same here! It really is a great Math program! ❤️
Hi Gina! Big congratulations on 1k subscribers, so well deserved! I have been really enjoying your content. I have only tried a handful of curriculums, I know the ones I definitely don’t like haha. At the moment my girls are loving The Good and the Beautiful.

We love Gather’Round and Campfire Curriculums 💕.
We LOVE campfire curriculums too and gather round was so fun and it's definitely a curriculum I want to use in the future too!! ❤️
Congrats on 1k subscribers! I’d have to say my fav curriculum is TGTB. I’ve been debating on the More than Words Bible curriculum for next year, looks sooo good.
Thank you so much!! I'm excited to start! TG&TB is definitely a popular favorite ❤️🙌
Awesome haul!
Thank you so much! ❤️ thanks for watching!
So many good curriculum picks! My favorite is definitely the good and the beautiful, but I’ll also be doing a little bit from Abeka and master books for my oldest going into first grade in the fall! Super excited to use the new(ish) preschool course from tgtb for my will-be 4 year old!
Yes! Tha good and the beautiful is favorite here too!! The preschool course is so sweet! I hope your little one loves it 💗
So many great picks! I love a big stack of curriculum boxes 🤣
And thank you so much for such a generous giveaway!!
There's just something that makes my heart happy about a stack of boxes like that 🤭🤣😅
@@MW11-3 no problem!!! My pleasure!!! ❤️🙏
Our oldest is going into grade 1 this coming school year so we have only begun our journey. Based on videos watched, The Good and the Beautiful would be a favourite for science and eventually L.A.. We are using Animated Literacy for reading and writing this year and things around the house for math.
Thank you so much for sharing! My first year homeschooling I did the same thing for math! And didn't even use a curriculum.... I hope you enjoy it ❤️🙏
You're doing amazing doing everything you do!
Aww thanks mama ❤️🙏
Ya got it
Great!!
We love TGATB and MasterBooks both!!!!
❤️🙌❤️🙌❤️
Wow quite a nice haul
Thank you so much!!
I don’t know if I have a favorite company, but we do love the new math from the good and the beautiful!
It's a great Math for sure! ❤️🙌
I love hearing that she loves math now! My son loves it too!! 💙
Congratulations on 1k you did it 😍
Thank you so much friend ❤️
Congratulations on 1k 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you so much!!! ❤️🌺
My daughter is currently in pre-school but I will be homeschooling her next school year for pre-k 4. I am nervous and excited!
How exciting!! I hope it's a great year for you and your daughter!! ❤️🌺
I use the good and the beautiful and mindful heart with some Aussie supplements.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! I've heard great things about mindful heart :)
Our favorite is TGATB. :-)
Yes! ❤️🙌 it's a favorite here too!!! As you can tell!
Congrats on 1K!

Not fun! So sorry!
That sounds painful!! Thanks girl... he is all better now... he was limping for a couple of days though... glad he didn't have to go to the hospital!
