Elizaveta Tuktamysheva would be a compelling outsider/rebel side character in this drama as well considering her long career, being one of the few to last through all of the seasons. It’s just a shame she never got to go the Olympics.
Even though I'm happy for Anna winning that Olympic gold, the scoring at Russian nationals were incredibly questionable because 1) Anna didn't have any ultra C elements and Liza had 2 triple axels, 2) Liza's technique is far superior than any of the Eteri girls (Aliona was the closest) and is the least likely to get any edge calls, yet her score was so much lower than Anna who consistently has wrong edges on her lutz and prerotation issues just like almost all the Eteri girls
Ok I'm not a fan of Evgenia's jumping technique, but watching her break down when she saw she was 2nd to Alina was heartbreaking to watch. It was even more alarming when Evgenia was having a literal meltdown and banging her head onto her hands. Eteri, instead of helping her calm down and consoling her, just stands there and says "this is just a phase she needs to get through" with a smile on her face

I am an animation student and you know what, I thought the same ! It would be amazing. I love writting stories and characters and Eteri has such an interesting personnality which would be worth getting explored. Beyond the drama, this whole mess brings up so many different interesting topics that need to be discussed. I have my exams in a few weeks but girl as soon as I'm done with them I start writting. The producers of Dance Moms trued to do an "Ice Moms", but apparently they insisted on sticking with the "team format", rather than focusing in single skaters on one coaches "team" and they had trouble finding interesting cast members. Also, after seeing Dance Moms, people did not want to sign up, as I thunk skating moms are aware they are 10 times crazier than the moms on that show. Dragging your kid to a cold rink at 6am is a whole other level of commitment! 😂
Netflix also could do a doc series like Cheer (which it's SO GOOD btw, coming from a person who doesn't care at all about cheerleading) or Drive to Survive, following Sambo-70 in the pre olympic season, and the finale being the Olympics. The drama is already there, streaming companies are losing money not producing this.

It's pretty hard to find good actors who would be at least decent on ice, or even match them with good stunts, and you'll need lot's of those for TV-show.
I feel like the issue any drama series would come across with Eteri as a MC is I really think they would end up making her more sympathetic than she deserves, to justify the girls all returning to her. Or else, if the writers really villainized RusFed and Sambo the way the arguably deserve, I think people would have trouble getting invested in the fates of the girls.
Netflix's Russian FS drama has to end with their Zhenya's story end with redemption by becoming OGM at their 2nd Olympics, because if that's a crazy dream IRL then it has to happen in fiction.

I was desperate to find a skating show, that’s ACTUALLY realistic, and about actual skating (I’m not a fan of anime so I didn’t consider yuri on ice), and Spinning Out (which I watched less than one episode), was a train wreck to me, and IF there ever was a show like this, even with characters that aren’t real, I would for sure watch this!
I wish one day I wake up in the reality, where figure skaters perform for 8-10 seasons giving us perfect programs each year, and not this bunch of little girls turning figure skating into figure jumping.
A lot of these little girls actually have artistry with quads, it's a sport it will evolve over time, if only we can see them past the Olympics season , but it's probably just a dream that won't come true, there is no consistency in women's figure skating anymore

This would be just incredible! I think we will get something about the whole drama for sure but in years you know... when all this is going to be history. But I totally agree on how anyone should go about it, if they would want to do the series. In the first season I would add some episodes about Yulia, so it would be clear why people are starting to focus on Eteri and why they see it maybe negatively that she shifted her attention to Evgenia, Yulia's story is also dramatic. Then it could continue with Evgenia's story just like you described, with the queen arising in the following episodes.

SPINNING OUT is not trash. This Netflix show loudly speaks about ice skating injuries, bipolar sindrome and a lot more problems these athletes have to deal. Yes it has a little bit of a teen drama, but nowadays teen drama is everywhere. Even Eteri Tutberidze is sometimes acting like a rebellion teenager. Btw, i totally agree with your idea about the Russian figure skating (drama) show. ⛸️😍
It was a fabulous pitch but there's a couple reasons why I wouldn't want it to happen - 1) They'd likely have to pay Eteri for adapting her image and likeness. Even they changed her name and casted an actress who doesn't look like her it would still be clear it's based on her and her career. So not only would Eteri get a big payday it would likely be a super sanitized version of events as I doubt Eteri would let them go even mildly realistic. 2) As a personal bias I don't like fictional shows based on real world events as you already know what's going to happen - completely cutting the tension. Plus usually any additions to add tension come off ham fisted and forced.
I hate Ice Princess because she learns a double axel in like 2 months or something? F off with that, made me furious as an actual figure skater in training. I

I find them very interesting and informative and I think you are doing a fantastic job!!! I have been following this subject since right after the 2018 Winter Olympics where I first saw Evgenia win the silver medal -- she being the catalyst of my original interest. I am part of two fan clubs for Evgenia Medvedeva and Alena Kostornaya and I have written several articles on each site with corresponding photographs, having received hundreds of responses from members as well as badges and designations such as "Visual Storyteller." My interest actually started when I watched a documentary, "Of Ice and Fame," which I strongly recommend you to warch, about Evgenia when she was previously with Eteri I noticed the friction then between the two of them and I had a feeling and actually predicted that Evgenia would leave her eventually which she in fact subsequently did. Ну раз Вам текст не понятен, зачем писать? В видео говорится совершенно о другом. Автор предлагает компании netflix или другим киностудиям создать сериал о российском фигурном катании. Так как события, происходящие в нем, действительно завораживают. Она даже предложила примерный план сезонов и их событий. В видео не давалась оценка ситуации в российском ФК, а лишь констатировались сухие факты. Так что понять, какое мнение на этот счёт у автора по видео невозможно.

Idk. I have very little trust in Netflix to not mess it up big time... But I really like your season structure, it's well thought out! I feel like there are a lot of potential legal issues that they'd have to sort out first. Esp, if they're planning to have the "Evil Eteri" troupe, that the Federation is really not a fan of. Then there's also the language/cultural barrier. In my experience, ppl from outside Russia have a very shallow and skewed understanding of why Russians behave a certain way or say certain things. Imo, the culture and the values are so different from say the US/UK, that the screewriters are guaranteed to misinterpret the characters and give them weird "emotional objectives", or make them rude/mean. Because they just don't understand what's considered normal in Russia.
Ice princess is the OG figure skating movie, idc what anyone says. It had a huge influence on me, because of it I've gotten into fs and I've worked in the field. I still rewatch it from time to time nowadays
Ice Castles was the OG figure skating movie, actually! Lol. The original one. It came out in the 80's, way before you were born. The other Ice Castles movies they did were pretty lame unfortunately, but Lynn Holly Johnston was great in the original! Yes, it was dramatised and not 100% representative of real skating, but neither was Ice Princess! Ice Princess was very tongue in cheek 😁

Actually almost all of those issues you mentioned skaters are going through during they carriers were presented in Spinning Out. I don't think this show was trash, actually it is the best figure skating series from those you mentioned, the closest to reality.
Tina gives me mire the vibes to Robin Wagner Who definitley wants to have a champion. but is Nice to her skater and kind of cares for her. When casey truly became Tina's skater Because her daughter said she didnt want to skate anymore. She gave All her attention to casey. Eteri trains many girls, Tina gave clases to many girls but only coached her daughter and then casey at the end. Thats Why cassey needed a coach and Tina needed a skater

honestly I feel like Yuri on ice also did a good job at portraying figure skating. If you put the yaoi/viktuuri aside and focus on the figure skating side it was pretty realistic, from the training to the competitions. Or well more realistic that 90% of the shows about FS out there. I know you mention once you didnt see it thought Anyway I will LOVE to have a realistic drama about figure skating, even if its not russian drama, just a realistic setting. Stop with the romantic drama, no one wants that anymore. Netflix needs to take notes

Hi again Paola, Your Idea is genius, I wish Netflix would make it. The series you describe almost already exists. It's called Drive to Survive . It's about Formula 1 race car drivers, who have to always be looking over their shoulder, because the younger hungrier lions are already chomping at their heels. The teams are who they drive for, with the team principle being like the head coach. The biggest difference is in figure skating if you make a bad mistake, you may need a stretcher to get you to the hospital..with a long recovery. In Formula into 1, a really bad mistake or car failure can lead to, somebody go get a shovel. Also, the cars can be good enough the competitors your forties.Very similar, cut throat politics and a governing body the FIA who does not really make it fair fot everybody. Top drivers are paid millions a year too... Wish you'd watch a few epiaodes to see what Netflix Can do.

Actually, there are many ex-skaters who've become actors. They may only be able to do single jumps, but they are out there.

Medvedeva returned to Eteri Tutberidze in 2020. And Trusova and Kostornaya left in 2020, but returned in 2021. What else is there to discuss?

Hi Paola. I would like to compliment you on your utube commentaries on the ongoing Ladies Russian Figure Skating Drama. I find them very interesting and informative and I think you are doing a fantastic job!!! I have been following this subject since right after the 2018 Winter Olympics where I first saw Evgenia win the silver medal -- she being the catalyst of my original interest. I am part of two fan clubs for Evgenia Medvedeva and Alena Kostornaya and I have written several articles on each site with corresponding photographs, having received hundreds of responses from members as well as badges and designations such as "Visual Storyteller." My interest actually started when I watched a documentary, "Of Ice and Fame," which I strongly recommend you to warch, about Evgenia when she was previously with Eteri I noticed the friction then between the two of them and I had a feeling and actually predicted that Evgenia would leave her eventually which she in fact subsequently did. Ну раз Вам текст не понятен, зачем писать? В видео говорится совершенно о другом. Автор предлагает компании netflix или другим киностудиям создать сериал о российском фигурном катании. Так как события, происходящие в нем, действительно завораживают. Она даже предложила примерный план сезонов и их событий. В видео не давалась оценка ситуации в российском ФК, а лишь констатировались сухие факты. Так что понять, какое мнение на этот счёт у автора по видео невозможно.

Автор ролика - медвеботка, это ясно как день) И доверять Нетфликсу такой сериал, как его описывает автор, очень плохая идея. Уверен, что американцы напихают в него афроамериканцев и всех представителей ЛГПТ, приправив педофилией, ну и по обыкновению переврут все факты, да и характеры персонажей тоже.. думать даже не хочу про нетфликс в этом контексте.
@@RoxSword Я не думаю, что автор ролика исключительно за Медведеву... Просто если рассказывать историю с ее стороны, то события принимают большую драматичность, что для сериалы было бы выгодно. А насчёт нетфликс, безусловно, вопрос спорный. Но автор ролика и не настаивала непременно на них. Она просто предложила идею, которую кто-то из компаний мог бы реализовать.
Idk. I have very little trust in Netflix to not mess it up big time... But I really like your season structure, it's well thought out! I feel like there are a lot of potential legal issues that they'd have to sort out first. Esp, if they're planning to have the "Evil Eteri" troupe, that the Federation is really not a fan of. Then there's also the language/cultural barrier. In my experience, ppl from outside Russia have a very shallow and skewed understanding of why Russians behave a certain way or say certain things. Imo, the culture and the values are so different from say the US/UK, that the screewriters are guaranteed to misinterpret the characters and give them weird "emotional objectives", or make them rude/mean. Because they just don't understand what's considered normal in Russia.
"Ice Castles" is a very good drama movie about Figure Skating.

Ice princess is the OG figure skating movie, idc what anyone says. It had a huge influence on me, because of it I've gotten into fs and I've worked in the field. I still rewatch it from time to time nowadays
Ice Castles was the OG figure skating movie, actually! Lol. The original one. It came out in the 80's, way before you were born.
The other Ice Castles movies they did were pretty lame unfortunately, but Lynn Holly Johnston was great in the original! Yes, it was dramatised and not 100% representative of real skating, but neither was Ice Princess! Ice Princess was very tongue in cheek 😁

Actually almost all of those issues you mentioned skaters are going through during they carriers were presented in Spinning Out. I don't think this show was trash, actually it is the best figure skating series from those you mentioned, the closest to reality.

honestly I feel like Yuri on ice also did a good job at portraying figure skating. If you put the yaoi/viktuuri aside and focus on the figure skating side it was pretty realistic, from the training to the competitions. Hi again Paola, Your Idea is genius, I wish Netflix would make it. The series you describe almost already exists. It's called Drive to Survive . It's about Formula 1 race car drivers, who have to always be looking over their shoulder, because the younger hungrier lions are already chomping at their heels. The teams are who they drive for, with the team principle being like the head coach. The biggest difference is in figure skating if you make a bad mistake, you may need a stretcher to get you to the hospital..with a long recovery. In Formula into 1, a really bad mistake or car failure can lead to, somebody go get a shovel. Also, the cars can be good enough the competitors your forties.Very similar, cut throat politics and a governing body the FIA who does not really make it fair fot everybody. Top drivers are paid millions a year too... Wish you'd watch a few epiaodes to see what Netflix Can do.
