Vader was one of a kind.......a very well built and raced car. That staging technique was a well kept secret for a long time......Really made my life easier once I finally figured out what was happening....lol
I remember the day it ran 155mph at Piedmont and the dart ran the first 4second pass. Horsepower junkies blew up. Everyone else was running 5teen 5.0 at high 13x's
I learned the 2 speed shuffle from Mr.Morton on a test day at Mooresville… worked great for the sub par technology I had, blow through carb with a 80mm s400
I was at the end of piedmont to pull Chad Brandon back to the pits when Pete came through the traps at 140+ on fire. The fire suppression didn't work and there were extinguishers at the end of track put nobody had a dzus wrench to get the hood up. My pocket multi tool got all the fasteners open but one and we had to break the carbon hood off to get the fire out ( all this in maybe 20-30 seconds)
Its cool hearing about the good ol days. I have also heard from turbo gurus that not all anti surge covers perform the same. They said the anti surge covers with holes drilled in them (precision was popular for this) would lose power over covers without it. They said that type of comp housing on Vader is a better design.
This conjured many thoughts and memories. Yellow forum I was probably on their airgun page daily from 2010-13. Cars that were a big deal of their time - like Nitrous Pete’s fox body late 80s early 90s era. 92-94 I used to street race around Detroit in my buddies 88 GT that was built by Steve Christ of Dynotunes in Minnesota, which is who built Nitrous Pete’s Mustang, and 7 of the 10 fast Mustang’s of the day. Those were the days when all the races were stick shift Mustangs it seemed. Good times 👍👊🇺🇸🤘
if you like hearing about old 275 or outlaw radial stuff just google search yellowbullet outlaw radial or x275 and you will see some good threads pop up from 07-2012. youll see what the first leaf spring car to go 7s was, when dzued frame rails first happened (scranton brothers) first car to run 200mph an back it up, the debate of stock style suspension vs stock suspension..in 08 is when things got wild really because donald started throwing money into outlaw radial and in 09 is when radial vs world was done to prove that s/s cars would drag the true ten 5 and limited street cars which where back half cars on 29x10.5s. folks like chad rivera, justin curry, shannon ragsdale, jef pulk, darrin hoyle, reese and the bad9er crew where some of the badass rides back then. on tt5's
Wow Harold you took me back brother when you said big stuff LOL I could remember if you showed up to the track and you had a trans brake and a bump box you were the man. Love the videos Harold
I'm so glad and thankful that you found time to make another video. I'm watching it currently. Any time you post anything it is much appreciated here down under. Thank you Ricky-Bobby...
2 things- 1- every single video I end up singing along to the theme tune loud as fuck like an idiot. 2- interesting what you said about the anti surge slots, as you do get conflicting info. The turbo specialists/experts generally claim without the slots will make more power as their job to reduce surge is bleeding off some air and therefore lowering compressor efficiency. BUT most drag racers and tractor pull guys say with the slots makes MORE power, because when the compressor is fully tapped out those slots suck air IN rather than bleed OUT. Never seen any back to back data to prove either way though.
Oh damn, I forgot about the fire at Piedmont....... The statue of limitations has passed, what happened on that pass?????????? I remember the car rolled by with a blanket over the engine, into the trailer as fast as I have ever seen then just vanished from the track....... What kind of Smokey Yunkic activites were you trying that day?????
I actually had nothing to do with that. They rushed repairing the car after the Rockingham fire and left the bolts out of the fuel rails. Blew them off at the stripe….
I always wondered where this car went! Saw it at Rockingham for a civil wars race I think and this car started my love for new edges. Cool seeing it back out
Get ready , for the new to Cleetus top fuel two seater dragster, that will be at the freedom 500 , it’s from down under, from the( burn out kings) PowerCruise promotions,,, they announced it on their RUclips channel yesterday, it a free gift from them to Cleetus, they said on the Chan one stipulation is,,,Cleetus do a burn out with at the freedom 500, coming up. You might get some top fuel tuning experience, lol thanks BigAl California.
Nitro tuning is TOTALLY different than pretty much everything else. Have heard it said many times that you have to forget pretty much everything you think you know about engines when you step into the realm of nitro cars.

Not enough people discuss the phenomenon of roll cage shrinkage or why it happens to those who find beer and bbq delicious. A damn mystery
Too funny, I was thinking the same thing.
Those Moly molecules shrinkin
My opinion it's the gravitational pull of the earth and moon over time. 😂. It's can't be the beer and bbq.

Hey John! What years was Vader a thing? I presume it was back when you were radial racing.
In case John's busy@@danmyers9372...this car was a thing in 2011ish. John was running 275rs back then. Good times!
I attemted to sing your opening song for my wife, but she just looked at me , and walked off.
She probably likes country.
My wife and I sing it in the car from time to time
@slowvega I have gotten my wife to sing this song a few times! So funny

It's crazy I did the interior of this car years ago when it was first built. I'm surprised to see the door panels still in there.
"I CAN'T WAIT" for another episode of RGADS!
I just can’t fkn wait to hear the intro!

Pete, didn't you build, drive, and own this car when it first was raced? I remember it. Didn't it have a torque-arm suspension?
I never owned it. It's always been factory style four link.
I think Eric McMillan had it built originally. I could be wrong on that, but I think that's where the car originated from.
