The roof is just a work of art alone. Kevin is cute as a button and I could watch him speak French all day. I’m old enough to be his mother. Please thank him for explaining how the tiles are managed. It is so nice to see everyone care for this Grande Lady.

This is most definitely You Tube's most outstanding Chateau Restoration Chanel. Honestly how many times can a person say 'beautiful' in 20 minutes! Thanks for explaining the curved slates. We had wondered how the stunning curves were created. Kevin is a genius. We have nothing but respect for him and his colleagues. Now everyone, Let's all help Felicity, Tim and Truffe get to 250k subscribers.. Share share share. M&R

It would be cool to see Purnon become a bed and breakfast, where a party of 1-4 gets to have a tour of the property sleep in an open room and have a 18 century French breakfast and dinner during the cheteau’s off hours. Of course with a reasonable price to help support the maintenance after. As this would take place after its restoration

Enjoying all this roof work especially. What / how do the external corner slates seal out water ingress? The ridge is leaded & the valleys also, I see but not the corners. Hoping to see more of the full size construction of all that wood before it is closed for another few hundred years. The model was helpful at your open day. Watching from Scotland.

I never realised how fascinating roofing could be! Watching the old tiles being removed, seeing the roof's skeleton and then seeing it restored. It truly is activating. Thank you for sharing this. On the end wall exterior behind the scaffolding I noted two of the windows appear to have been bricked in. Will you be restoring them for symmetry? And Flick I was impressed at your attention to detail and your patience as you worked on the framing around the wall paper, you are just as much an artisan as the others working you Purnon. Well done!

    •  4 часа назад

Hi Tracy, thanks for your message. Regarding the false windows, just to clarify, they were built that way at the time of the chateau's construction. They will remain that way because they are part of the building's original design. But when the restoration is finished they will be covered with their restored original window shutters. Thus, just like the ones on the (already) restored eastern wing of the chateau, they will preserve the symmetry and harmony of the building's appearance despite being a 'faux' window.

I didn’t realise how complicated tiling a roof was - have you kept some of the old wood and slate to showcase for yr visitors ? Love the frame around the wallpaper ❤

    •  11 часов назад +2

Yes, we've saved many original decorative elements which will form part of a chateau museum. Thanks for your message.

With all of this invested money - France needs to put portions of the Louvre in it and make it a massive museum and tourist attraction.

While I adore how the original roof had naturally cut and curved backing planks with imperfect tiles, I'm loving the perfection of the new roof. 9:25 look at that! wow!
