The 2000 models of the PSP and Vita are still two of the most comfortable handhelds I've ever owned. This Win 4 is my favorite design among PC handhelds.

Price has always been an issue for me for all these amazing new handhelds. However - the more innovative handhelds that come out to compete, the lower the price can be. And all these handhelds just keep getting better. Looking forward to the next couple of years

Yes but they’ve always struggled against their competitor Aya Neo, GPD does cool shi with it’s design,, but always ends up having defects(over ambitious) Aya Neo devices are pure perfection, but basic and simple.
@@RJ-vy9ch easily alt tab out of games, not have to deal with touch screen or place fingerprints, even just having the screen slide up is convenient for making it level to your eyes when need be.

Picked the Win 4 over the ROG Ally for the trackpad, slide out keyboard, smaller size, and non-proprietary eGPU option via USB 4 which the Ally shockingly doesn't have. Loving it!
Technically it doesnt but it should be possible to make an adapter because the XG mobile connector is just basically PCI-E. Also, if you're buying an eGPU, at that point why not make a gaming PC?
Really digging the compact, Vita-esque form factor. Looks like it'd be more comfortable to use for extended gaming compared to the more elongated designs of the Deck or Ally.
Lovely piece of tech, not only for its design and small size, but for it's integrated keyboard & mouse, external GPU support, Native Microsoft Windows Preinstalled (although you could also trick the Steam Deck to install it), great port selection: 2 USB-C + 1 USB-A + headphone jack + mSD, and the possibility to install an LTE module getting internet on the go!... It'd be perfect for around 500 ~ 600 USD though.....
Lte on the go is a game changer and this will make it be like cellphone. They should have subsidized it through t-mobile verizon and that would made it fly off the shelves. Thats how you move units

The price is fine. What it needs is a 7840U in place of that 6800. No doubt it will get one it just depends on how long before GPD does so and if by then AMD has already released the next best thing.
I'm glad you're branching out to the smaller companies like this one. It would have been worth mentioning that in case of needing to repair it, GPD will not easily service your device. You should only buy it if you're comfortable with opening the device and doing some soldering yourself.
they can't be any worse than Asus when it comes to service. It took me almost a year to play with my first gen threadripper, the damn board broke and it was 2 weeks of bickering with them to get them to take it, then it would be gone for 3 months and they would send me some other turn-in from someone else and it would begin again.
If you haven't made a decision yet you should also consider that the gpd win 4 is just better software wise. Less buggy with windows and the tdp adjustment on the fly is super convenient. Spec wise it's worse than the ROG but performance wise they're comparable so you should consider the formfactor and software more than the power

Until you use a Windows handheld with a keyboard, you don’t know what you’re missing. It becomes usable and opens up PCs entirely back catalogue. The mouse mode especially, allowing DOS games to be played with the controls and fallback to kb when needed.

Saying “you’re gonna wanna set games to 720p for best performance” in that way of expression is seriously wrong, the 6800u and by extension the win4 blasts through call of duty MW2 2022 at 1080p on even as low as 15 watt TDP. Just tune your settings right. Resolution is more important than nearly everything else.
It's funny, not to say tragic, that this is basically what playstation fans have been asking Sony for decades. But instead of delivering something like this to us, Sony preferred to announce that shame of Project Q that no one asked for... 😒

Can you play games off the internet? Does it allow retro games from different consoles ( Xbox, Xbox One, PS1,2,3...GAmeCube, PSP, PS Vita etc with emulators is necessary )

Its more a psp, not a vita. And no we dont prefer seperated D-pads, we just dont want the muchi xbox ones or the overly clicky ones like switch. Snes, genesis, ps1-ps5 all non seperated pads and they are legendary.
Increasing the price to $800 will affect the sales of Nintendo. Not many will be willing to spend that much for a video game. Just look at the current sales of this PC handhelds vs Switch.
The whole point of a handheld PC is, well, it's a "handheld" PC. So of course people who are interested in those are going for the handheld aspect. Your comment is like saying, 3D movie tickets are more expensive than 2D movie tickets, so unless you really want to watch it in 3D, you might just get the cheaper 2D tickets. People who don't mind spending more money on 3D movies are going for the 3D experience. That's the whole point of 3D. Same for the handheld PC. They are always more expensive than their laptop counterparts. (Except for the steam deck because that's a different business model)

the fact that the windows settings arent optimized to be zoomed in, right out of the box, lets you know they dont know what theyre doing. this is why people like steve jobs are worth their weight in gold. he would never allow a product to have a interfazed that only ants can see. like thats such a simple thing they could have done, but no one in the company thought to fix that.

The Deck's UX and UI are both miles better than that of any handheld that runs Windows currently.
