💀 Is buying fish online risky?
I spend thousands of dollars every single month buying rare fish from Asia and a lot of people ask me if I receive refunds for the dead on arrivals (DOA).
As a fish seller myself, I would only feel comfortable purchasing fish from websites with a live on arrival guarantee. This is also why I offer a full refund for DOA fish to anyone who supports my fish shop 😊
There is no risk to buying fish from me as long as everything is documented correctly (steps outlined on my website) ☻

while at work today I was thinking about your videos as I work at the biggest Portland hub, I know some folks are not super careful in addition to the labels not being the easiest to see, in addition to them being not the easiest with how fast we have to move, EVERYthing goes through a conveyor that regularly crushes things and tosses them all around, please keep this in mind, if it's not above 70 lbs it is on a conveyor, just something to know!!! I wish you luck and look forward to seeing your videos !!!

Sadly even when there are arrows in red pointing in the direction the box is supposed to be it doesn't mean the box stays upright. I worked for a nursery and 8/10 times we got our live plant boxes upside down :(
Despite the arrows being in red with bold letters on multiple sides saying "live plants, this side up" we still got them with their butts in the air. It resulted in plants like Geraniums or Begonias breaking at the stems making them unusable.

@@aloidia2122 I don't doubt it, I regularly load garlic and some large plant in a box probably about 3ft tall, those are easy to get upright but when it gets heavy enough that things are falling off the conveyor and crushing boxes we try to move as fast as possible to avoid damaging so much in jams, it sucks that sometimes they're upside down but it is the unfortunate reality

Then he bought glass belly guppies from this wonderful lady to breed😄

Markets do it in such a worse way. They bulk buy and don't consider the fishes health (depending on the story/company) . Bulk shipping always comes with a risk, but there are ethical ways to transport animals from fish to invertebrates to reptiles. They usually are okay if packed correctly. I have received 3 ball pythons via mail through morph market and many have done the same. Just know your vendor.
every pet (or their parents) you get are transported this way. without this method you wouldn’t have pets that are not native in your area. i have bought a lot of animals online, from cockroaches to tarantulas. its generally safe as long as you get it from a reputable and trustworthy breeder.
also a lot of animals dont exactly “think” the way we do. they are not claustrophobic from being shipped 1 day in the box, they usually dont have the mental capacity for that. most of the time in the box they just fall asleep until i open the box

Please place your fish with the top of the bag and the top of the box! When you put it on its side, it can't go up and down it can only go side to side if it's too big! So please be careful!!

I had a horrible incident
So, We had a tank where we kept 2 pairs of guppies and after that we got a gold fish and added it into the tank after sometime one of the guppy gave birth but we suddenly noticed that they are slowly disappearing. We thought it was the other fishes but it was the gold fish:( till we noticed he ate all of them:(

Ordering fish online isn't risky if you know where to find reputable sources, the only risk is during the shipment because both ends don't have control over how the package is handled during shipping.

It may feel inhumane to ship fish, but keep in mind if we didn't ship them, then you wouldn't have your pet goldfish, or well... Really any animals!

Spouse is a fancy goldfish collector and I am into koi. I have had a few dead over years of buying and shipping. Post office freaked the first time I had fish come in, one inner bag had leaked a little bit so a little bit of drip. Even more hectic, three large shipments of chicks on the same day. So we were all called in and arrived at the same time. Everyone left happy. Our tiny fish turned out fine. Shipped on Monday via Express mail and insulated styrofoam inner lining and chemical bag ice chillers, bags topped with oxygen, they will make it for two days…
Could you please make a video what you need to begin with a nice home for fish ? So I mean what to feed and what water temperature and what ph for the water. Personally I feel an aquarium/fish seller is more trustworthy when they offer refunds for fish that don't survive.. Sometimes they'll ask for water parameters to make sure it's not a problem you might've caused but even if they're slightly off the places round my area still tend to offer refunds which is quite nice. 😊
