Klingon is a fictional alien language from Star Trek
Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam
patrick taylor for everyone wondering he said "Today is a good day to die." if I'm translating it right, I'm rusty.
I think it's better to call it a constructed language. It's weird to call it fictional when it's a fully functioning language.
@@bretbret8293 I meant the aliens are fictional. Obviously that didn't come across. But for my part, I think it's weird to call the language fully functioning when there's no real-life society that uses it as their primary daily form of communication.
@@burn1ngz0mb1ez8 Qapla'
Yeah he bought a bootleg but it was a bootleg of the Star Wars Holiday Special which is the nerdiest bootleg you can buy.
Nope. That movie never existed. Just ask George Lucas.
BTW I tried watching it once and couldn't finish. It's so cringey.
And bootleg is the ONLY way you can actually get that movie. Well, unless you were Carrie Fisher.
It’s on RUclips now. ruclips.net/video/6hH8rxarVG8/видео.html. It is hard to watch though
Now I want to see Billy react to Bea Arthur's song from the special. "Goodnight, but not goodbye." - Does anything say "Star Wars" more than Bea Arthur?
I watched that on TV as a kid, waited all week, made sure my parents and older sisters all knew I was watching it on that day. Then everyone bitched and moaned the whole way through. I saw it a year or two ago somewhere online now as an adult and know why now. Jesus.
Also, Charmillion was so impressed with this that he, not only said how good of a rapper Weird Al was, also put the song on his Myspace page
I bet that got people begging for his top 8 spaces.
I remember that.
That Charmeleon dude spits fire
ndstumme Hardly anybody is going to catch how great this comment is. That was beautiful.
@@ndstumme this needs more likes
1)The bootleg VHS was The infamous Star Wars Holiday special
2)Klingons are one of the main alien races in Star Trek and they speak Klingon, obviously
3)MC Escher is the guy who's most famous for drawing the never ending staircase picture
4)Everyone I've seen who has reacted to this failed to even comment on Donny Osmond or the flares on the ground made to look like the Pac-Man logo
5)This is perfect because I'm actually wearing my White and Nerdy hoodie right now.
6) That the equation in the background is a real one created by Schrodinger, better known for his famous 'Cat' thought experiment' ...
Escher ROCKED!
I was always surprised how many people missed Seth's cameo.
4:07 I think that nobody recognizes Lightsaber Boy any longer: ruclips.net/video/HPPj6viIBmU/видео.html
Not white and nerdy enough to reconize seth and donny
Dude the star wars holiday special bootleg was the grail to us nerds in the day
And our demise...
I got one including the Star Wars Christmas tape. Including what do you get a Wookiee for Christmas when he already owns a comb
"Knowledge is cool."
As the class nerd growing up in the 80s, mercilessly ridiculed, endlessly bullied, and even beaten twice, you don't know how happy that makes me to hear.
Popular Monster, from FIR Take a good listen.

Jay Dreamerz film breakdowns you got to go deep......
I don't think anyone actually thinks knowledge is unhip unless they're anti-intellectual. It's not the knowledge itself that's nerdy, but pointless knowledge, especially an overemphasis on pointless knowledge. The obsession of it is what makes it nerdy. Like just about everyone doesn't mind watching a Star Wars movie every once in a rare while, but it's when you become a Star Wars fan, attend conventions, etc, that it becomes nerdy. Same thing with stuff that is designed to be cool like metal music. Danzig is a pretty cool band, but toss in a Danzig convention and a whole bunch of metal nerds will attend, thus having made metal nerdy.
Klingons are a race from Star Trek - Klingon is their language
its a fictional language but you can actually learn it there's books and online programs you can use.
i havet never lern it... namarie ar vanya sulie.. .. more elvish...^^'
@@DeadyD0right Or just watch Big Bang Theory a lot ^^
I can tell you are a youngster. You missed most of the jokes and references. You still are doing a good job though.
Agreed..he needs to watch Star Trek and so many things to get all the references. 🤪
Yeah, he made me feel old XD
Pop culture references are the first place you notice the 'old' creeping in. Knees or back are usually next. 😇
@@MS-dq4er Yeah, I hear that. The ol back and knees do indeed hate on me. Cresting over 40 this year, gotta love that tipping point, heh.
I'm only 25 and I got most of it. I didn't get the klingon part, I just assumed it was similar to Javascript. I just learned in the comments what it is lol. And I don't know the characters from star wars, but I put 2 and 2 together when I saw the pictures in the video. I liked how he compared bootlegs and streaming nowadays. I never put that together, but I remember our family would get a lot at the flea market in West Palm Beach.
As a nerd, I appreciate the new respect we get. I got very little respect in school back then, but people seem to have belatedly realized that nerds can solve a lot of problems and help people.
In case you didn't catch it, that was Donny Osmond working Al...but you didn't see the purple socks.
Haha, there's a whole video that's just him dancing, it's amazing.
How did I miss Donny Osmond??? Gonna watch this again. 😃
Donny and his sister had a Star Wars tribute episode in '78. Very bad, almost makes the Holiday Special legit. :) (Historical editorial: The Osmonds were the not cool answer to The Partridge Family. Both were white versions of The Jackson 5. In the Jackson 5, the cute littlest kid was Michael Jackson. In the Osmonds, it was Donny. Lets see a dance-off between Donny & MJ, that'll show who the white & nerdy one is... lol...)
Donny was dancing terrible. And no one evet catches the fact that its him lmao
Don't forget Judy tenuta and Seth green in the video also
I feel like you’re not nerdy enough to get some of these references, lol. I’m not sure if you got the Kirk or Picard reference or not, but they were both captains of the Starship Enterprise on Star Trek, played by William Shatner and Patrick Stewart respectively, and Kirk v. Picard is a stereotypical nerd debate. Other people have explained the Star Wars special and Klingon, and JavaScript is a computer coding language.
Yep I date a trekkie his answer is Cisco (Star Trek deep space 9).
@@AmandaWspoon Don't leave Janeway out of the mix.
Well that shouldn’t even be a debate. It’s clearly Picard. 😆
Although I do have a certain fondness for Sisko and Janeway.
Kirk and Sisco all the way!
Janeway then Picard
Oh poor Billy. Hasn't been exposed to Star Trek and don't know what Klingons are.
or Seth Green or Donny Osmond and there is more that he missed. Oh well
I knew about klingons, Spock, Kirk and Picard long before I ever actually SAW Star Trek for the first time. As with many other things, I know of it simply from having heard/seen it referenced so many times. Same goes for things like The Walking Dead, Charlie Chaplin and D&D. Never seen/played it, but I still know what it is and some basic things about it from how famous it is.
billy, klingons are the bad guys. really bad. they fart in airlocks.
Yeah, WAY too many of the references went straight over your head on this one, brah.
Absolutely!
Problem is, there's a difference between being ignorant and feigning ignorance. I believe the latter applies here.
@@aiden_macleod Do you think he doesn't want to appear too white or too nerdy?
Sounds about white
@@sydneycho7290 Are you suggesting people with melanin are incapable of having reference points about popular culture? Seems... kinda racist, Sydney.
If I recall correctly, Star Wars Holiday Special was only aired once and the only way you could get it was through bootlegging. Also, Klingon is a language/race from Star Trek, as well as Capts Kirk and Pickard.
Yep only aired once and the only copies that exist are those who actually recorded it and reproduced it.
I saw it, bootlegged, and I'm alright with that :3
Speaking of Star Wars, the reference to the 'Star Wars Kid' @ 4:08, ruclips.net/video/HPPj6viIBmU/видео.html still cracks me up, it don't get any whiter!
Lmfao! "The IRS is the real gangsters" dead!
My fav by him! I love the Donny Osmond dance 😂😂💓
Donny stole the video.
Al is the best all time Billy. Absolute GOAT. Every song he does is fantastic. There's a reason that most HUGE acts let him do parodies of their videos. He's a great musician and a fabulous writer. I certainly encourage you to check out more from him. I'd offer a suggestion, but they're all gold. You literally can't go wrong. Just close your eyes and pick one.
If you want to get into Weird Al, start with his television debut: "Another One Rides the Bus" from Tom Snyder's show.
ruclips.net/video/tZkouut-9RQ/видео.html - April 21, 1981
Or perhaps you can find some recordings of him on the Doctor Demento show before this. But since Doctor Demento was only on AM radio, they would be sound recordings.
The Star Wars Holiday Special was iirc never published and amazingly hard to get a hold of, which is why he had to bootleg. It is most likely THE most "Nerdy" item you could want as a collector.
Age of the geek baby! I think it's awesome that things that were "weird" and "nerdy" when I was young have become mainstream. Weird Al never fails to crack me up.
Bootleg of Star Wars holiday special. That’s priceless.
not bootleg a special that lucas himself tried to get rid of
He bought a Star Wars Christmas special bootleg.
It still cracks me up that he got Donny Osmond to goof off/dance for the video.
You should check out Amish Paradise by Weird Al. That one is hilarious.
Lol yes i never tire of amish paradise
My favorite Weird Al song is Fat.
@@shawngaskin19 he will probably cry about that too
YEEES! That one and "Word Crimes." I promise, he will fall out laughing!
@@stormangelus6638 Amish Paradise and Word Crimes are a must. I agree.
You do know this is comedic, right? He's known for making fun of other songs, oh my I love weird Al lol
The director of Star Wars, George Lucas, declared the Star Wars Holiday Special to be so extremely bad that he ran around frantically buying up all the copies he could and destroying them. Therefore, it is an unusual triumph to get a VHS copy of that tv show.
I have seen him in concert seven times. I've been listening to him for over 40 years. That's right, he's been around that long and has hundreds of parodies and polkas.
*Vet humor moment*
Song title: "white and nerdy"
Billy: " there's nothing wrong with being nerdy"
.......
Mc Escher is a painter
Javascript is a computer programming language.
Klingon is star trek race.
Klingon is not a race, it is a language spoken by Spock and his race, which I do not remember what their race is called at the moment, but it is sure not Klingon

@@XCross64 Nerd question: Does Spock actually speak English though? Or does the Universal Translator on the ship just make it seem that way? :) Babel Fish > Universal Translator. Prove me wrong. :):)
Weird Al deserves a lot of res. Not only for his creativity and rewriting those songs but also for spitting bars like a pro. The guy can rap better than many hip hop artists/mumble rappers these days.
He directed a lot of regular music videos as well.
MC Escher was an amazing surrealist artist. Your reaction to this makes me feel ancient because there were so many things you didn’t know what they were and it’s crazy how much has changed. lol
Dude! You gotta do “Pretty Fly for a White Guy” by Offspring.
I love that song! lol
Or "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi" which is the Weird Al version. :)
@@gregsteele806 That one is hilarious.
Donnie Osmond dancing in the background is so perfect for this song.
It’s a parody song, it’s meant to be cringeworthy.
He is purposely playing up to stereotypes of what is considered “nerdy”.
Don’t take “Weird Al” seriously, dude.
React to more Steel Panther. Specifically, “If You Really, Really Love Me.”
ik wtf is his prob other then being so damn sensitive
Yeah you a little sensitive there Billie, weird al is funny but really breaking it down kinda destroys the joy of his work
A lot of his song relates with the "Big Bang Theory" sitcom. In other words, everything he mentions in this song, you'll also see in that comedy show.
Bruce Banner White & Nerdy was released in 2006.
The Big Bang Theory didn’t start until 2007.
@J K So, I guess you can say that the word is "cringeworthy?" (Sorry, I had to)
Do more Weird Al, he's hilarious with a mix of parody songs and originals.
It's hilarious that he brought up the braces. When the song specifically mentions that has no grill, but he still wears braces.
Donny Osmond is my favorite thing about the video. Honestly, he's just having way too much fun 😂
Weird Al parodies the song, "Riding Dirty' as a total nerd with Donny Osmand in the background dancing alongside
Weird Al Yankovic - Fat
It's a parody of Michael Jackson - Bad
I love the way he locks the door on a convertible!
BRO 😂😂"You wanna roll with the REAL gangster, go roll with the IRS!" Bro I'm dying here
Forget everything, Weird Al can rap better than a lot of rappers.
My mind melted when he said “What’s a Klingon...Someone tell me what a Klingon is” then I realized what had just happened and I made myself sad 😢
The Donny Osmond cameo is underrated. It's hard to get much whiter than that.
Weird al yankovic trapped in the drive-thru. You'll love it
neta012 The song is about fifteen minutes long, mind.
But I agree, hilarious.
You also missed Donnie Osmond dancing in the background. He's a huge 70s and 80s star.
you should do more Weird Al videos. This guy cracks me up!
With Donny Osmond as his background dancer
LMAO
Love the cover you're rockin man. From a US Navy Vet (RET). Good reaction vid too, love me some weird
I'm surprised you're missing most of the references here. Klingon... as in Star Trek.
Maeden AZ Mostly the Star Trek ones. I don’t think he’s seen it.
Not everyone has seen Star Trek.
Jmvars I have never seen a single episode of Star Trek and I got those references when I was 7

That dude dancing the fool behind him in several clips is Donny Osmond of Donny & Marie fame. Looool.
And it's my favorite part of the whole video. Donny is going ALL OUT. LOL!
Seeing the Star Trek references flew over your head broke my heart a little bit hahaha.
Funny how he got Donny Osmond to do that silly dance in the background.
That's my favorite part. He can do no wrong.
Donny Osmond in the background is the best part of the music video.
Weird Al Yankovic - Amish Paradise (if you haven't already seen/heard/reacted to it)
I laugh at Donny Osmond dancing in the back.
DONNY OSMOND IS DANCING BEHIND HIM!!! Can we remember anyone more White and Nerdy in the 70s? Nope.
Do you know who is dancing in the background? That's Donny Osmond, star of the ancient tv show "The Donny and Marie Show" Did you know that Donny Osmond once tried to change his soft spoken, quiet, love song singing image by releasing a tough guy sounding song? The song name is "Soldier of Love" For a laugh, why not react to "Soldier of Love" ??
"What is a Klingon?"
Bruh.
Just to answer a couple of questions I'm sure others have answered already: Klingon is an alien race from Star Trek. Kirk and Picard are both characters from Star Trek. And the VHS bootleg he bought was the Star wars Christmas Special, which literally only exists in bootleg form because it's so bad that every copy but one was destroyed, and it's never been available anywhere ever. (The one copy, allegedly, belonged to Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia)
OMG! THAT WAS REALLY GOOD! Do you remember when he did EAT IT (Michael Jackson) and when he did AMISH PARADISE (Coolio)? My suster got tickets to see Weird Al and we were standing in line to get inside. She saud to me, "Why are all these guys wearing Hawaiian shirts, look at them." As soon as she said that it dawned on us that it was Weird Al's signature style. We were laughing and laughing. Weird Al came up to our seats, but he moved around all over the place. It was a good concert. Funny.
Are we not gonna talk about the Donny Osmond being in this video?????
Do "It's all about the Pentiums" by weird al (yes, it's to "it's all about the benjamins"
Donnie Osmond was killing it in this video! Hilarious! 🤣
I think one of the most impressive things is he fits his hair under these wigs.
Funny how you said that we have advanced from "Nerdy" been "insult" from the past but all the references inserted in the video will fly past you if you weren't or a real nerd.
Hey, even if you insulted nerds they have conquered the world, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Elon Musk.
I remember those days when you had to keep your nerdiness a secret. I knew no one else who shared my nerdiness interests until at least college. I tried to convince my high school English teacher to consider including science fiction into the curriculum. It didn't work. There was no Star Wars yet. Comic book stores didn't exist yet or there were very few. There were no personal computers and calculators were just coming on the general market. In college I met guys that built electronic circuits for fun (hence the soldering gun).
Oh, yeah, we watched Monty Python all the time and could recite all the skits, and when we got Mine Sweeper, I probably played for 6 months straight. First fanny packs were cool but then they became uncool, only nerds kept wearing them. If you wore pocket protectors you were a nerd. A/V club was the predecessor of the Computer Club, and Glee Club, in high school at least, meant singing music no one else wanted to listen to. The Drama club was actually cool, though. And I knew people later who went to Renaissance Fairs every week.
Do you like William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk from “Star Trek: The Original Series” or do you like Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard from “Star Trek: The Next Generation”?
Picard all the way.
Now if we can only get people to know the difference between being a nerd and being a geek. "Nerd" deals with academics, while a "geek" deals with hobbies.
Did you notice that the person dancing behind Weird Al was Donny Osmond?
BTW, it's pronounced Yankovik, not Yankovich. Not a big thing, just wanted to mention.
capttheo1 no he said it right. weird al is slav, and we as slavs read the -vić in the name like "vich"
@@river114 that may be but Weird Al himself pronounces it with a hard K.
Didn't know klingon, Kirk, or, Picard. Have you ever heard of Star Trek?
He's not nerdy enough.
THAT LOOKS LIKE DONNIE OSMAND IN THE BACK DANCING
The Big Bang made Nerdy Cool. Donny Osmond dancing in the background lol.
Yikes, your reaction made me realize how old I am! I’m glad that things have changed so much. I have a 17 year old niece and I would hate it if she lived in a world where being unusual and intelligent is bad.
That being said, I think you missed the vast majority of the references, understandably. They are dated.
Weird Al Word Crimes
MC Escher was that artist most famous for his “relativity” that had all of those stairs going every which way.
cracks me up he dosent recognize Donny Osmond dancing behind Al --- Lol love this one
Donny Osmond is the guy dancing behind him. He and his brothers were teen heart throbs.
Guys this whole song went right over his head.
Donny Osmond dancing in the back love it
3:42 Don't forget to pause that frame; the trivia questions on that card are absolute gold. Questions include: "What's the deal with Lindsay Lohan? I mean, seriously?" for entertainment and "FDR: Was he faking it?" for history.
If buying a bootleg doesn't up your status in the nerd community I don't know what will lol
That was Donny Osmond dancing behind him during the dance clips lol
Playing the harp is no joke. You missed Donnie Osmond dancing in the background.
He bought 'The Star Wars Holiday Special'. It was famously so bad that George Lucas would not publish it. Bootleg was the ONLY way to get it.
NO! NOT THE KNEE AND ELBOW PADS!! 😋🤣
Another fun Weird Al song is his parody of Coolio's song "Gangster's Paradise" called "Amish Paradise" In order to understand this song completely, you must know that the Amish are famous for rejecting modern technology. They shun everything that has a motor attached or works by using electricity. When they say they live a simple life, they mean it.
"You want to roll with the real gangsters? Roll with the IRS"
Truer words have never been spoken.
holy crap that was Donny Osmond doing back up dancing and vocals
Pretty funny. Behind Weird Al at one point dancing was Donnie Osmond.
You caught Key & Peele. The redhead with the cherry action figures is Seth Green. Dr. Evil's son in Austin Powers, Oz the werewolf in Buffy, and genius creator of Robot Chicken. That's Donny Osmond dancing his azz off behind Weird Al. He's a 70's bubblegum pop star with his family band and tv show.
The lady with the surge protector is Judy Tenuta. Weird Al's real life friend. She was a stand-up comedian with an accordian and an attitude.
Does anybody know who all the "gangstas" in this are? Googled but couldn't find answers.
Donny Osmand is so white, polar bears have to squint their eyes just to look at him
Apparently you didn't recognize Donny Osmond dancing in the background - with the black jacket....
Anybody notice beside Key & Peele that Donny Osmond was they guy dancing in front of the blackboard? LOL
Yes, he bought a bootleg, but look what it is!! I saw Carrie Fischer live at the Improv a few years before she passed and she mentioned that Star Wars Christmas Special, calling it horrible but saying she was under contract. She also mentions this Al video and said only EXTREME nerds ever wanted to see it and few would pay money for it. I figure she’s the expert and she was a fan of Weird Al!!
*Picard is the captain off of Star Trek the Next Generation t.v. show, and Kirk is the captain from the original 1960's Star Trek t.v. show and some of the Star Trek movies.*
Donny Osmond, Dancing with Weird Al. lol that's cool
Even a non-Star Trek fan surely has heard of Klingons, Kirk, and Picard...
You may or may not know that's Donny Osmond in the back dancing.
If you notice the guy in the background dancing bad(thank goodness he does know how to dance). That is 70s pop idol Donny Osmond. It’s been around for over 50 years. He just ended VEGAS residency with his sister, Marie last week.
If you have seen the Masked Singer. He was also the Peacock. He was runner up on the show.
Buying a bootleg Star Wars movie is the ONLY crime a nerd would commit. Weird Al NAILED every reference here.
