    Beautiful coins. I held one of the Alexander coins when I was younger. I graded Standing Liberty Quarters. This fellow that work there was from Iran and brought his collection to work. Thank you again for your video

    Sir help me to find the value of this 700 year old coin detail is given below.
    Muhammad III bin Tughluq (1325-1351), Copper tanka
    Weight: 9.33 gm., Diameter: 22 mm., Die axis: 10 o'clock
    Legend /
    Legend, including mint name Tughluqpur 'urf Tirhut in margin
    This is an example of Muhammad binTughluq's fiat money ... a copper coin struck to look like a silver tanka and meant to have the same value. The coins were struck only during the years AH 730-732 (1329-1332 CE), after which the experiment was abandoned.

      The coin has to be identified first. Which era, which empire, which ruler, which denomination and so forth. Only then can a value be determined.
      Thanx for watching

    That gold Alexander the Great coin was nice. It want to get an Alexander coin because I’m named after him. It must be really hard for NGC to grade those old coins. I don’t really understand how they can at all tbh

    • @worldnumismaticnews
      @worldnumismaticnews  6 лет назад

      Yeah, It's a lot more complicated than modern coins to be sure. The coin basically gets four grades. The first is an overall or net grade to express the overall quality and eye appeal of the coin. That would be the XF, or MS designation. The other three indicate the Strike, Surface and the Style of the piece. The strike and surface is graded on a point system from 1 to 5 with 5/5 being the best. Then finally the Style looks at how the coin dies were engraved, a designation of "Fine Style" is desired as it indicates better craftsmanship. And a lot of consideration goes into each designation as well. Complicated to be sure but in my opinion well worth it to preserve these anciet treasures.
      Thanx for watching

    So beautiful and under priced. I get a good laugh when a fifty year old baseball card goes for $40,000, meanwhile a high graded, ultra rare gold coin goes for a similar amount.
