- This time we have a new video about the Platterhof / Hotel General Walker on the Obersalzberg. The pictures are from us and have never been shown in full length before! It is unprocessed raw material!
Since 2001 the Platterhof (or also called Hotel General Walker) does not exist anymore! It was torn down by the Bavarian State Government!
Have fun and stay healthy,

When we remove history we invite repetition of history because people forget
Like covif fascism these days
Really don't like seeing history destroyed , makes me both mad & sad
the grinder to the rails with zoomed in filming just says it with a hint of aggravation and haste 😑
I agree 👍
Demolished history is secondary crimes
Never forget, they said. But still they remove the ruins of the past, so the people will forget it.
'Bleeding Heart Liberals' - to quote an old Prime Minister
I stayed there for a week when my family did our annual ski trip to Berchtesgaden while assigned to Graf. It's such a shame to see it and the Hof demolished.
Our Company stayed there in the late 80s. It was a beautiful place. I'm so sad to know it was torn down.
I guess Little Fritz doesn't want to remember Great Grandpaw and his friends.
"Oh, it's just History... let's put a plaque for the tourists. HERE IN THIS SITE ONCE STOOD THE PLATERHOFF. Just like we did to the Berghoff and the Fuehrerbunker."
Why in the hell would they destroy something this cool
Because people thought of Hitler when they looking at it. They might as well destroy all Germany according to that.. Meeh these reasons are for the people who never think of government corruption and money interests, these are the reasons that this building was demolised.
Cool? WTF?
@@typhoontim125 hell yea its cool a guy that brain washed ppl to kill mfs for him
@@CmurkGam3ing Grow up dickwit
@@typhoontim125 Helloooooo , we are talking about a building right ? There no fascist ghosts inside it. Of course it is a cool building.
I stayed there in 1986. I was stationed in Schweinfurt. 1st of the 10th FA battalion 3rd ID. Rock Support!
Why did they demolish the old thing? Please tell me that it was demoshed for safety purposes than it's history.
Kempinsky, owner of a chain of hotels worldwide and a Jewi a businessman, had a huge influence over the decision to destroy
What the hell is wrong with the Krauts, this was so stupid.
I can't watch this.
Why do they want to restore and demolish everything related to see and Hitler??Why so much of self guilt if its right in use here.

Stayed there in the 90’s while stationed in Permasens Germany. Had a great time lots of history Gone 😢. Our world has lost its mind about our past cannot change it by destroying Land marks and statues History remains the same
FFS why destroy such a beautiful piece of architecture?
so sad. I spent months in that hotel. Walking through the SS barracks.
Kempinsky, owner of a chain of hotels worldwide and a Jewi a businessman, had a huge influence over the decision to destroy this magnificent hotel which would have stood in sharp contrast to the new ultra modern, white elephant, architecturally inappropriate for this beautiful Alpine setting. Face itself, the Walker would have been competition for Kempinsky. Was Kempinaky's Jewish background also a factor? Lastly, it was out of the hands of the Bavarian government and came out of Bonn. Tragic.
I’m glad they kept that 45 second shot of the hole in the wall.
it was a crime to destroy this place
I stayed there many times in my Tour in Erlangen Germany 2/6 INF 1AD 1985-1990. I explored all of Obersalzburg with my girl Petra which I met at Lake Konigsee hot springs in the middle of a snow storm. Truly a mesmorizing Complex. The SS Troops there were known as Foggers, the giant Holes you see in the sides of the Mountain @1:35 lined the Roadway and the complex. The Troops made Steam pour out those Holes making a Cloud Layer over the Complex. Sad to see it was destroyed such a unique place
Utterly disgusting they tore it down. I stayed there when in the military and it was gorgeous. Hitler never even was inside the place!
Wrong. Hitler stayed there a lot before he came to power. That‘s still no reason to tear it down.
Gute Zeiten!
And exactly how did destroying this change history for the better?
@@VorsichtPROPELLER : ha! 😂
Stayed there back in '92.
I cant watch this its such a waste of a very fine building, at this rate we should demolish entire continents and start again. Those who ignore the past are condemmed to repeat it and those who view it learn from it.
Absolute pointless destruction of such an historical building, you cannot erase the past by destroying buildings. I am glad that people have memories of visiting. I wish I had.
why in gods name are they destoying history ?
God‘s name should only be used with respect, and always capitalized.

Despite being a Nazi building it was probably built by slaves who probably never made it. I would prefer it to stand as a gesture to their lives and effort. I am entrigued did they go down as far as the tunnels to remove everything or just fill it up. I wonder if anything else was discovered during demolition
Exactly just like the white house
It wasn’t built by slaves.
Wow that made a change, was it contractors who built it?
@@rancidschannel3206 well much of the construction work was carried out by the construction and engineering firm Hochtief, the same company that Speer often used for other large scale projects. While it’s true that during the war Hochtief did use slave labour on various projects I can’t find any evidence of it on the Obersalzberg. Just from the general appearance of the workers in all the footage and pictures I’ve seen of the various constructions, I would suggest they aren’t. I am happy to be proved wrong though! Interestingly the company commissioned their own book some years ago depicting their history in great detail, as a means to be fully transparent about their work during the third Reich. I do have a copy of it but I’ve yet to read it (it’s called, Hochtief and its History - From the Helfmann Brothers into the 21st Century by Manfred Pohl & Birgit Siekmann ). If it details anything specifically about slave labour on the individual sites I will report back.
hey smuck...please do not talk about something you do not know...it wasn't built by slaves.....
They say when you're in something ..........some times......you really don't know what your really into.....I spent several days at the Platterhof ..it was a very beautiful hotel....did the German government really think by destroying this magnificent building, it would mean that there never was a Nazi........how stupid.......history is history...... and by trying to destroy or hide it......doesn't mean, it never happened.....this grand hotel should never have been demolished...it was in fact, a beautiful as well as a Historical building
The world will have to invent a new boogeyman.
Putin
Why was it torn down???
not supporting Nazi but sad because it was outstanding building . guess all NAZI building had to be gone yes. how do we learn from history when we wipe everything out
But he lives on :)
“… we, the destroyers, will remain the destroyers forever. Nothing that you will do will meet our needs and demands. We will forever destroy because we need a world of our own, a God-world, which it is not in your nature to build."
trying to hide the past
Disgusting
Still love Bavaria though
The building itself was very strongly build, but renovating the interior and bring it up to todays standards as a modern hotel would probably not being cost effective. 50 Years of American military use and doing very little maintenance technically and on the interior was not worth the effort to keep it. Have a look at some YT movies on how the hotel looked in the last years of its use.
UK Government did same here, some of finest 18th century mansions and castles used by post war military, would result in ruin and eventually demolition of historical buildings
It's tragic and costly loss of finest architecture.
One more piece of history. GONE
Oh nooooooooo
So sad but what did we expect from a modern day German government/state.
Leftist insanity and anti-German legislation.
