In 1996, I drove out to Western Maryland to hear Barry Tuckwell perform his second to last concert as a soloist. I'll never forget it as long as I live. He performed Mozart Horn Concerto No 4 without missing a single note. But that was nothing compared to the pure, solid wall of sound coming from his horn. After the first movement ended the guy next to me said, "Oh my God, my chair was vibrating." We were in the back of the hall on the second deck. These are excellent recordings, but I'm afraid there hasn't been a mic made yet that will ever capture the dynamic sound Barry Tuckwell has in a live performance. It is engulfing.
For most people, it’s soothing. Also there are not harmonically tense passages and moods, say, in the vein of the brutalism of Stravinsky or the stridency of Ralph Vaughn Williams 4th Symphony, or much of the contemporary classical music of the 20th century. When you have that kind of music (and don’t forget deeply brooding and foreboding Horror movie film soundtracks), and rock and metal music, the music of Mozart and his contemporaries seems relatively light, harmonically simple, predictable and airy, but comparison... regardless of technical merits and expressiveness of the composer or musicians performing it. This is the stuff of traditional classical music and tonality, and not the extended tonality or even the 12-tone serialism, atonality, etc... that would come later that is often times uncomfortable if not outright off-putting for some to listen to... but nobody says that music made them want to “fall asleep”.
I love Barry Tuckwell. He will always be my favourite French Horn soloist. He is my hero from my school days when I played the French Horn myself. Beautiful
The tragic thing is that his style was just starting to mature when he died. I wish I could hear what he would have composed in later life-he was only slightly older than Beethoven.
Thanks for posting this album. Please note that the second movement of concerto#1 is missing. An extra copy of the third movement is posted in its place.
Hacer sonar bien un clarinete, un violín o un oboe, instrumentos mucho más melódicos estos tiene su dificultad. Lograr lo mismo y elevarlo al cantar de los ángeles con una trompa sólo puede deberse a un don de nuestro Señor.
Anecdotally, we were wondering which composer would the angels sing for God? Definitely Beethoven. But what composer would angels sing for each other? Certainly Mozart...
Hi Benjamin, the first piece in this album is 'Horn Concerto No.1 in D Major, K.412: I. Allegro'. If you liked this, you may also like our brand new Mozart compilation - CollinsClassics.lnk.to/MozartAndChill :)
These soothing melodies are truly the best way to end a busy day. I feel lighter and more at ease every time I listen to them.

Kevin Genus my guy will always be Dennis Brain.
People say they go to sleep to this; how? Mozart's music is so vibrant and so lively that it makes me want to get up and go do something.
God I hate that stereotype of classical music!

Barry Tuckwell at his best, brilliant tone and interpretation.
This has been my relaxing music for about 50 years. Pure heaven!
Che bella musica, che bella presentazione. GRAZIE
Grazie Maestro, meraviglioso.
Mozart was touched for god, his music is sublime and spectacular.
Or by Euterpe herself.
One of the greatest pieces in the history! And my favourite one!
아름다운 연주곡 잘 들었습니다~감사합니다~🎵🎻🎻📯🌿🍀☘🌹🌹☘🍀🌿❤❤
How did someone like Mozart even exist - dead at 35 with such a huge body of work.
The tragic thing is that his style was just starting to mature when he died. I wish I could hear what he would have composed in later life-he was only slightly older than Beethoven.
Mozart was the jazz composers of classical. A genius at developmental music (sonata) form ... yet so free and spirited in his melodies.
jajajajajaja no digas boludeces...
감사합니다
Merci infiniment ! Cela nous rappelle agréablement le souvenir d'autres virtuoses cornistes tels Dennis Brain, Alan Civil...
as a horn player it was very bad planning on my end to listen to this while doing homework because all I did was listen to the BEAUTIFUL horn sound
I love Mozart horn concertos more than piano or violin.
THANKS FOR UPLODAING THIS PRECIOUS MASTERWORKS. MOZART FOR THE CENTURIES.
And for all time.
I listen in the mornings at nights I love French horn.
Thanks for posting this album. Please note that the second movement of concerto#1 is missing. An extra copy of the third movement is posted in its place.
UNO SPLENDORE. Un grande astro della musica.
이곡을올려주신분감사합니다 흥하십시다
great music and great performance
Assurde le interruzzioni pubblicitarie!
I love it. I listen every morning.
13:24 is the king of all instruments
yeah but they have the wrong style at the beginning but thats hand down my favorite concerto
I listen to these at least once a week 🎼🎵🎶👍
For me, Dennis Brain will always be the definitive version of this. His tragic death seems to add the perfection.
BRILLIANT! WITH COMPLIMENTS.
24:38 It's so sweet...lovely Mozart
Thank you so much for this. It is great music to face the hardships of life.
That's very true! We have a brand new Mozart compilation out which you might like @golfan1000 - CollinsClassics.lnk.to/MozartAndChill
splendid!!!!!
I feel powerful!!!
Today I listen when I'm sitting near the pine tree and the green grass of home. Meraviglia!
I feel as if Barry Tuckwell just blows his horn whereas Dennis Brain's horn sound emotes a solid full spirit.
They are both fabulous world-class hornists, inspiring and stunningly beautiful to listen to. Explain?
I played these for my daughter to go to sleep with...❤️
oreste meucci Molto bello grazie

THANK YOU THIS WHAT I CAME FOR
Why is it that the thing we seek is always the last thing we find!? ;-P
22:20
Brings me back memories watching Little Einsteins!
What's the piano music at the beginning?
5:57 - sounds like Rachmaninov Scherzo in D minor

I like 36:55
There is a fine line between frivolous music and light music, and it is extremely hard to command it. This is why Mozart is inevitable.
can someone tell me the name of the song at 22:20?? I have been searching for this song for over a decade!!
Horn Concerto No.2 in E Flat Major, K.417: III. Finale rondo allegro
Please mention the name of the Soloist.
It’s right there: Barry Tuckwell.
31:47
Anecdotally, we were wondering which composer would the angels sing for God? Definitely Beethoven.
But what composer would angels sing for each other? Certainly Mozart...
36:55
37:18
Came here for 36:55 ❤
What is the first one
Horn Concerto No.1 in D K.412 Mvt I - Allegro
Hi Benjamin, the first piece in this album is 'Horn Concerto No.1 in D Major, K.412: I. Allegro'. If you liked this, you may also like our brand new Mozart compilation - CollinsClassics.lnk.to/MozartAndChill :)
The first one is "Concerto 1". The second one is "Concerto 2". I'll give you three guesses what the third one is called ;-)
@@dartme18 give me small clue
Reminds me of Rachmaninoff scherzo in D minor
Volume too low!
12:35
but i think in Bethoven and i bielive his music is the human pasion.
5:57 !
What about 5:57?
Horn player name?
who are you ?
Barry Tuckel performing with the Philharmonia Orchestra
Yeah... except that's not how you spell his name. Correct spelling is Barry Tuckwell.
but i think in Bethoven and i bielive his music is the human pasion.
