@agentcodybanx8909 fellas I completely agree but they were old ..please don't get me wrong these men accomplished so so much and meant alot to alot of people ...I'm just saying it hurts more when it's someone under 50 years old ...again I mean no disrespect their loss is significant
Rip Mr. West. The Logo. One of the 20 greatest players in NBA history. Elite offensive player, one of the greatest scorers ever, and he played defense. He put together the Shaq and Kobe Lakers and the dynasty Warriors. He will be missed. One of my favorite players 🙏🏿
@@Mad_Intellect All time great player and was instrumental in building the showtime Lakers AND pairing Shaq with Kobe. The tale of NBA history cannot be told without talking about Jerry West!
LA native. Born 1958. Every boy who loves sports has his first "hero". Jerry West was mine. Before ESPN, cable televised home games, there my little transistor radio, Chick Hearn and a guy named "Jerry West" who, as far as I could tell, never missed a shot! Youthful idolatory aside, I was able to see Jerry West play in person about six times between 1970-1973 against the likes of Walt Frazier, young Kareem, Earl "the Pearl" Monroe. Anyone who does not understand that Jerry West-with the modern training techniques, first class travel, the three point line, etc.-would be a superstar in today's NBA doesn't understand the game. Great shooter. Great passer. Good on the boards. Great on defense. And, like MJ and Bird, he wanted/demanded the ball when the game was on the line. "Mr. Clutch" was not a nickname, it was a fact. RIP to one of a kind!
RIP my man 😭😪😪😪😭😭😭 no words it also feels like you’ve always been around . Also thank you for your work. And for getting the players you did and believing in their talent say hi to Kobe and everybody else for us 😭😭😭😭😭😭 also you will forever be the logo. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Man seeing all these NBA figures/personalities pass starts making think about who's next. I know you shouldn't think like that but its inevitable. In fact when Walton passed, I genuinely thought about Jerry West and if we may lose him soon too, Only to see that it actually happened today...And then we have some older heads like Oscar Robertson, Kareem, and Dr. J who are 80 or are about to turn 80 as well. I really dont wanna lose Dr. J🥺🥺
Jerry was one of the most professional and adored people I've ever seen. Always willing to take time to share his knowledge and mentor, a great player, GM, ambassador of the game and human being. More than a logo. Rest in peace.
This is a huge loss. Jerry West was Mr.Clutch, The Logo, but he was Mr NBA. This is a major loss to the NBA, players, and fans. I have nothing but respect for one of the all time greats. He was elite at every level. Blessings to the Logo and his family!
My first experience with Jerry West was in 1958. He played for West Virginia against Northwestern University in the old Chicago Stadium. Northwestern won 118-109 in double overtime, and West had only 18 points because of the tough guarding by Willie Jones. I was hanging out of the rafters pulling for Northwestern, but I admired West and his playing ability.
Jerry West was like 86 yrs old. He is a legend in so many ways. I can't help but be reminded by this that Kobe Bryant is also dead. The man who drafted him as a kid lived longer. Life is crazy and unpredictable. Live your best one!
Unlike the other retired players who talked trash and compared with their era...This guy always admired the present and new talent..That's admiration and respect!
Aside from being one of the best players in NBA history, I also remember how he created the Lakers dynasty of the early 2000s. By bringing Shaq, Kobe, and Phil Jackson.
So pivotal and influential was to the game of Basketball overall that the Soviet Union’s Men’s Basketball program studied his shooting form and play as the template for how they wanted their Red Army Players to play going into the 1972 Olympics and pulling off the upset over Team USA. Just a momental figure and ambassador of the game.
I did not get to see Mr West in his prime. But he was on a TV show explaining the game to me and my brother on a TV show on basketball. And he was one of the best.
All of the greatness as a player and an executive combined.....The Logo was the greatest basketball mind of all time. He had the game figured out from the 60's to the very end.
Multiple shows and documentaries about the Lakers and everyone who had portrayed Jerry projected the same character just different actors. He was genuine and necessary a reason GOD created basketball. As a fan of the game and on the outside looking in he is a reason why I respect the game. Not a logo..... A SYMBOL. Rest in Pleasure Mr. West💎✨
"Jerry, I once wrote that success is a journey, and that the greatest honor a man can have is the respect and friendship of his peers. You have that more than any man I know. You are, in every sense of the word, truly a champion... If I could have one wish granted, it would be that you would always be happy." - Bill Russell
JEROME ALAN "Jerry" WEST: (May 28th, 1938 - June 12th, 2024). Jerry was also known as "The Logo" and "Mr. Clutch" - This is indeed, a tremendous loss. He will never, ever be forgotten, PERIOD!!! IRREPLACEABLE!!!
The Laker’s woes began when their relationship with Jerry West went south. The Laker front office chose Phil over Jerry and the rest is history. Thank you Jerry for everything.
Jerry West, the legend, had to take time out this past year to respond to that big-mouthed Mr. Nothing, JJ Reddick, when Reddick called the Jerry West-era players "a bunch of plumbers and part-time firemen". JJ Reddick is the hole itself.
Jerry west is the True King of LA. He saw that city grow from the ground up, He was part of the Lakers that changed LA to Blue and White city, to a purple and gold. He saw the rise Of The Beach Boys to Rap music in LA.
The Guy is the nba. He is the most important figure in the nba history. As a player, then built 3 dynasties as an executive. No one else even close to his all around mind. Pat Riley and Phil don't have the career as a player to match Jerry. And magic, Jordan, etc dont have the talent in the talent finding skillset to match jerry
The NBA LOGO will forever be remembered in the history of the NBA and everyone will know it was him. I have his autograph jersey at home. RIP Jerry
Rip Jerome Alan West, you will be missed
Rip Jerry West 1938-2024 Bill Walton and Bill Russell Kobe Bryant legends never forgotten
First Russell, Then Walton, Now The LOGO😭😭.
May that trio of Legends rest in paradise 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Was thinking the same. Losing 3 legends who were integral to the growth of the game

@@Mufes-hv5czwym under 50. 50 is not old at all. Old probably is like 65 and older
@officiall_jr ...We also lost Chet Walker on June 8th, 2024.

He helped build "Showtime" as well. Legendary figure in Basketball.
Top 13 player. Russell, Wilt, Baylor, Robertson, West, Dr J., Kareem, Bird, Magic, Michael, Duncan, Kobe, LeBron. That's the list

Even before The Logo has passed on, this Man was about winning. Jerry is one of the most insightful Executives. Let's hope the NBA retires Number 44.

JJ was right.
He defined the guard position.
What’s JJ gonna say-good riddance to another plumber? Love how Luka put him in his place: “You were shooting. That’s about it.”
REST IN PIECE
JERRY WEST,
the NBA LOGO
Rest in Peace Silhouette 🙏🏾😢
Isn't Jerry West one of those plumbers And fireman JJ was talking about?
I remember when jerry west help the grizzlies get to the playoffs. Good times when we had shooters like shane battier and mike miller. Rest easy.

One of basketball's smartest minds. Saying that it's a massive loss for the NBA is a massive understatement.
💛💜🕊️
Nobody accomplished more in the nba than west. He was a great player. But he was probably an even better GM and dynasty builder.
SLEEP IN HEAVEN I
How many people are named Mr Basketball ?
A real Hall of Famer, unlike Walton.
Aint no legacy for the wicked.
Noooo😢
