Yessir. I agree. I seen it from the jump, they didn't come to play with any energy and definitely wasn't the same team that beat Duke and Gonzaga. If they don't get better defensively and offensively in a hurry they could drop their first 4 SEC games. This team has potential, they can be really good, but they have to realize that every single game these teams are going to play their hearts out to beat them just because of the jersey they wear. I'm a little concerned, but I'm optimistic that they get back together before SEC play. Which is next week

Lamont never looked to drive, Jaxson was just sort of standing around hoping someone would kick it to him for a spot up three, Carr, gets low then doesn't look to score, dribbles it to long in the paint and gets stripped. Just sloppy play all around by the whole team. I do not understand the bad outside shooting.
Hey there, professional arm chair hall of fame coach here. Since coach made it a priority for the bigs to back the ball down to the rim the past half dozen games the four others have been just standing around the perimeter watching, not shooting. The bigs aren't passing out for 3's and the offence looks stale and physical defenses are pushing UK around. The bigs need to "show" they will pass out, not just hold onto the ball and throw up a fifty fifty heavily challenged shot. If the bigs would pass out when double teamed it will give the shooters more opportunities and will ease up the interior defense and hence make it easier to score inside. Without the ball movement UK showed early in the season they won't last long in the SEC. GO BLUE!
Auburn beat Ohio State by 38 points last week.. As good as Lamont Butler was against Louisville his play today was completely opposite on the bad side. The whole UK team was absolutely awful today with way to many wild shots, fumbled passes and missed layups. Kentucky does not have any kind of go to scorer. Otega Oweh tries but shoots way to many wild shots. Looks like the secret to beating Kentucky is just smother them with physical man to man defense.

The 2nd half comebacks were great, but they also reinforced a bad habit from the first half of games. Because of the comebacks, we never solved what causes the slow starts. Maybe this is good because now we have to find an answer.

Maybe Pope needs to focus less on threes and dive more into why this team tends to have to mount second-half comebacks to win against power conference teams. I know that people think we’re on a bad streak of shooting, aside from the Louisville game, but what if it’s not a bad streak, and this team just can’t shoot as well as we thought? Ohio State defends the three really well, but we could finish around the basket tonight.
I am concerned that this team is trying too hard to get looks from threes. When they are fronting you outside that closely, you HAVE to take it to the basket instead of forcing a contested shot, or letting the shot clock get down to single figures.

Running the offense through the bigs is not working. We DON'T have point centers. Amari is a NON-THREAT from the top of the key. He doesn't drive to the basket, he is a non-threat to shoot from there, and our best rebounder is 25 feet from the basket. It makes NO SENSE to have him hold the ball out there instead of him being down low. We kept getting shots in the last 10 seconds of the shot clock. Jaxson is an enigma. He can be great or absolutely awful. He just didn't bring any aggression to the game, and our rebounding was the worst we've had all season. Dropped FIFTEEN spots in Kenpom. Ouch

This is the "sky is falling" after one loss completely forgetting we beat Duke and Gonzaga. Bad loss for sure, but this team is a good shooting team with a terrible shooting night, they have been physical PLENTY, especially against Duke and Gonzaga, and yes the slow starts are a perpetual issue that must be addressed. TOnight, they came out timid with almost ZERO aggression on offense. Missed TWENTY lay ups. I doubt we have another game where we miss TWENTY lay ups AND 18 threes.

I think we should just go to a full court press. No matter who we play. Just press the crap out of them. We have the depth to make it work. I like Williams, but the energy that Garrison plays with should move him into the starting lineup. Atleast he goes in and almost always tries to dunk it. We need the team as a whole to really focus on offensive rebounding. Everyone knows the play if it's going to a shooter then their teammates are often out of position for rebounds. Williams looks rushed...otega is great at driving and he is actually a good shooter, but he hesitates as he's shooting. Just shoot it with confidence. They will start going in. Just have to become a rhythm shooter and not think; just shoot. Amari needs someone to help him with his free throws. Shooting with one hand is never a good thing. On defense; guys we really need our bigs to pay attention to the ball. There has been numerous times that we didn't even jump. Just stood there as they scored. You don't have to block every shot just put a body on them. Make them pay for coming in there. With the bigs and shooters we have; we should run alot of pick and roll. Pope's offense is very versatile and we could really accel with the pick and pop game. It's time for " Camp Pope"...we missed probably 10 times right at the rim...that's just the luck of it. That's 20 pts right there. I think Jaxson should come off the bench. Perry is not quite ready. I think he will be great in the future, but with Kerr out we need Jaxson as pg2. I think it will also be good for Williams to come off the bench. I believe he will do well just coming in and playing. I really enjoy this team.
