@@TheCraftyOrganizer I just saw your tutorial and thank you for giving her credit. I think she is great. A lot of people don’t give enough or any credit to the ideas. I understand that sometimes you can’t but I appreciate those-like you-who do or even try. By the way; you are one of my fave’s also 👍🏽🙋🏽♀️🐕
Love this idea!!!! you hit it out of the park with this one ! You are so right about the dollar tree stores....they never have the supplies I see on RUclips!! TFS!!
I really like the way they turned out. ❤ Those box bases won't last outside unless they're under a covered area. Know this from experience. No matter what I've covered them with, they still fall apart. And I LOVE the shelving/ wall behind you. Very pretty!
I'm spoiled in Southern California.... weather gets some things... but we get away with so much more. My shelves were the least expensive basic option I could find... and I've 'enhanced' them. LOL
Hi Noreen! You and your channel are so amazing and encouraging. My dear sister lives in Arizona and my daughter and I are in Kansas. We're doing a 3 way long distance DT lantern project together!! We're pretty pumped to say the least. I'm finally getting a craft room soon and your YT's have been soooo helpful. Thank you for all the inspiration❤
I love this DIY, you're right I can't find supplies for DIY's at the Dollar Tree, also I would finish the base corners, adding flowers in the corners or filling in the corners would be a nice touch.
They look good, cute idea! I think here in Florida with our rainy season, for outdoor use, I'd find a base that was plastic or metal. They would look good with fairy lights also!
Making them into a pumpkin might be fun with a long bolt through the middle and pulling them together maybe on a round stove top cover on the bottom to screw through and keep it from rolling away and it could be a stand.
This lantern is so cute. Yours came out beautifully. 😍 Dee is one of my favorite crafters of all time! Her tutorials are streamlined and easy to follow and she comes up with the most creative stuff from DT products that look super high end but are simple to make. Her mind amazes me!! Her voice is super calming, too. Hmmm...so much like my favorite organizer of all time. 😉
I love Dee’s channel - she does such great projects and they always look high-end! I love your take on the lanterns. I’m planning to make these, had no trouble finding the tracks. There are several things I’ve seen on various channels that I’ve never found in any of the DT’s I go to.
What an amazing project, Norrine!!! You would never know what it was made from, to see the end result. I think I would fill in the corners. I don't think I'd use caulk, as it looks like it would take a lot. But either the clay or, as someone else suggested, some extra greenery or flowers. Maybe you could extend the leaves so they kind of spill over the edges of the base, & wrap them around the corners--in a natural-looking way of course! :) Anyway, thank you so much for sharing. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
Love these! I will definitely make them if I can find the supplies. Like you the store closest to me never has the items shown in videos. I would have to travel about 45 minutes to the best store and that just isn't going to happen unless I have several stores I want to visit while there. Thanks for sharing.
Wow Noreen! That's awesome. I have a lantern garden in the making. So have to make a set of 3. I wonder how big I could make one. Thanks so much for finding this idea.
Norrine, I saw Shesocraftdee’s video of this! I was stunned!! I shared it to so many saying,”HOT WHEEL TRACKS”!!! Her videos are very good. Just like yours!!! Take care!❤️🧡
I’d thought about putting putting a screw through the top also because that would help hol d it together. I’m thinking of putting a dresser knob through the top.
Pretty 😍. It’s amazing how creative people can be with random bits and pieces. I noticed you wearing shorts and flip flops in your video ☀️. It’s absolutely dismal in the UK so far this summer. Cold and wet 😭. Can you believe I’m actually putting my electric blanket on before I get into bed tonight 🥶. Thank you for the video 🥰
I have been following Dee for several months now and she is so talented! When I seen this, I too went straight out to buy the supplies. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to make mine yet but I will. Most of the DT around me have the race tracks - surprisingly!!!
New subscriber here! The lanterns turned out great! I love Dee and all she makes. Thanks for showing us your version of the lantern. I just bought the supplies today to create my own. 😀
Look on line - there are SOOO many amazing variations of them now! By just adding some stickers or beads before paining, you can really get some beautiful dimension! Enjoy :D
You could glue a few leaves or flowers to hide the corners or fill it with caulk cause idk how the playdough would dry thoroughly between the plastic, the wood and covered with paint, if it doesn't dry completely it could cause mold
I seen this DIY from She So CraftDee & flipped over it. I will point out that it's much easier to paint the race tracks before assembly. I took them outside & hung them from a hanger on a tree branch & painted them. I do like your idea of caulking the grooves. I will do that with my next lantern/birdcage made from race tracks. 😄
That's too funny, I was just watching So CraftDee the other day. She also has a beautiful lantern that she makes with the jenga blocks from Dollar Tree. 🙂

Why don’t you follow the RUclipsrs that she has copied instead. Stop supporting people that rip other people off

That is so clever! Love it.❤
I'm so grateful for people who share their creativity, because I sure don't have much of my own!!😄
I feel that way too - I am usually a copier - not a creator! LOL
They look good, cute idea! I think here in Florida with our rainy season, for outdoor use, I'd find a base that was plastic or metal. They would look good with fairy lights also!
Great tip!
What a cute idea ❣️ About two weeks ago I bought several sets (and connectors) in hopes they would work with an old set my son had. Now I'm torn...🤭
LOL He won't miss one set 😉
Kudos to you and Dee! I always see the track at my Dollar Trees! YAY!!!!
Yay!!!! A first in Dollar Store history! LOL
I would fill in the corners. Love the way they turned out
Dee did sconces with the race track pieces, too. Uber cute. I love your idea to use the food scraper!

What about stringing some garland at the top of the box. It will hide the gap, if that still bothers you.
