Play on hardest difficulty and see yourself getting crushed then. Level up your character before doing so is my advice. I stream Berserk on the highest difficulty right now. You should come and watch how the game looks with everything maxed out.

Good review! I was wondering about this title. A cross-over I'd love is Mobile Suit Gundam. It might not work as well since they use guns and laser guns, in addition to the occasional heat axe or beam sword. But there's just so many series and mobiles suits to put in game with enough memorable "boss" characters they wouldn't be lacking for varied weapons, heroes, or enemies. As long as they leave out Gundam Seed, I could never bring myself to care about that series even though I have a PS2 fighting game based on it. Oddly, I'm also not a fan of fighting games heh. But it was kinda fun. Or a Kessen 3 style game. That game was good. I like the light controlling troop movement / tactics aspect on top of the bashing enemies stuff. If they mixed the gameplay of Kessen 3 with DW it would add a ton more depth.
Cool. I see they're on consoles I don't own. It would be awesome if they made a new one on PC with modern graphics (looking as good as the game in this video) , with new features, and any improvements they've learned from.
You would think that with better technology the framerate for the Warriors titles will finally improve. Even on PC there are serious framerate issues with many of their titles.

Musou Games aren't for everyone. and a thought that it wasn't for me either but since warriors of Orichi I've been enjoying them, I'm currently playing One Piece Pirate Warriors and either if you're fan or not of the Anime, the game, the characters and (believe it or not) the story are Great. I haven't seen this one yet and I think I'll jump to it eventually. and I'm saving some money to get Hirule warriors if I can. never thought I would like this games that much. great review Kerak. thanks!
awesome angle from someone wo didn't follow the anime ( presuming ). The original ova from 1991 had more serious tone and better artistic angle then the present representation. However, for anime lovers, these games are awesome, since it represents emotional value. Specially being able to play, Dariun ( not the boy king, his general ) is actually exciting. But yes, these games are otherwise boring. But that's why they always pick various anime as game material. Like berserk is getting their own game. Subbed. Its nice to see someone with the game design knowledge doing reviews.

It's crazy that the Dynasty Warriors formula is just copied 1to1 in all of these games. From the menus to the map and the whole animation and AI systems. I played three Warrior games on the PS4, I really enjoyed them but I think it would be a great time for the franchise to really mix it up a lil bit. Open up the map a bit more, stop with the corridors between these big empty spaces. Change up the whole officer system. Don't know...
I always feel that the sources Dynasty warrior gets its hands on would sit better in a different genre, I say this from a seat of ignorance having not played them but Berserk to me seems it would sit better in a souls like game, Arslan on the other hand would fit perfectly in mount & blade.

Koei needs to step it's game up. I as a long time fan refuse to buy DW 9 because it's just the same thing it's been since DW 2. And for some reason they're too good to dub the damn game and I'm not spending battle reading when I could be *hearing* what my people are telling me. Up your performance, Koei, or more fans will leave.

I was thinking of trying this game and everything I have heard about it seems great... but the fact they speak Japanese may have killed it for me... Don't get me wrong I watch Subbed anime ALL THE TIME! It's just that in the middle of combat it's going to be hard to read the lines.

I hope Japanese publishers like KoeiTecmo release their games on GOG.com. I left Steam behind and couldn't be happier. So until they do, its PS4 for me.
Yup I couldn't agree more about steam. My audio for some reason cut out on my steam machine where everything was muted. I tried to contact steam support and the best answer I got after waiting two and a half weeks was sorry you will have to get your steam machine fixed that will be 170 bucks plus another 25 bucks for shipping and handling. I then tried calling the HQ and nothing. It kind of felt like they could give two shits about my problem so I'm planning on selling the steam machine in order to buy a Wii u. I already have a Xbox one and ps4 I just need that Wii u so I can play bayonnetta 2 and splatoon to name a few. Even Microsoft had a way better costumer service than valve. Their DRM is horrible along with their customer service... Well anyway lol I hope you enjoy your ps4! The Wii u is kinda cheap now you might want to think about investing into the console as well as the ps4 IMO. I prefer console gaming with the Xbox ps4 and Wii u over building a monster rig any day of the week :)

as a fan of both musou games and the source material, i really think they shouldnt have made this-it just doesnt fit. I mean yeah, Daryun is definately a Dynasty warriors character through and through, but many of the other main characters just arent fighters in the first place, this in combination with the very low fantasy and lack of gimicky fighting styles, the game clearly had to bullshit a lot of the movesets, like giving princely wimp Arslan a powerful effectful fighting style or turning strategist Narsus' in-joke about beeing a shitty artist into a magical brush fighting style somehow.
These games could be good, if they would incorporate more Kingdom Under Fire Strategy elements as well. So you can control the armies, and go directly into the fight any given time. Without that, its just another brainless button masher. Battlezone, I demand a reboot!
Geez... I can't stand that Japanese sassy rock-orchestral music... It NEVER fits. The same kind of music can be found in Dragon's Dogma and it's awful to its very core.

I think you mean Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms, as the first Dynasty Warriors game came out on the PS1.

i have always wantd to play one of this dynasty warrior games or its clones, but have never gotten around to it.
These games don't get to many physical copies so even though they are not that popular they sell for a lot. It sells at $35 to $60

Surprisingly I haven't watched this anime but it seems like they're kinda short on characters for a dynasty warriors genre game.
I played the ps4 demo a while ago. The game was good but the fps drops are terrible. that issue just killed the game for me.
I just hope the bad sales on Steam don't put KT off PC gaming. I do want my Dynasty Warriors 9 on Steam.
