Lol. Oh DW’s. At the low tuning it’s a very clear Eb. Ryan, curious if you ever pay attention to the ‘natural-frequency note’ they write on the inside of the shell?

Okay before I start: I do think shells resonate at a pitch, and I think it's neat that DW check that pitch. Back when I owned a DW kit (fifteen years ago...) I tried tuning the 10" and 14" toms to the pitches written inside the shells and they were like a major third lower than I thought they sounded their best. No doubt once you fit them with lugs and hoops and heads, the resonating properties of the shell will change, so I just tune them where it sounds good. Which in the case of the three DWs Chris gave me for this batch, was a huge pitch range!

@@2112percussion_ yeah that makes a lot of sense. The chances of the natural resonances of the toms being in perfect 4ths (or whatever) would be pretty low I imagine.
