This was in 1988 at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Concert. I knew cos I was there just by chance when I was as a student in Britain. To my own surprise they were a real highlight of the show, especially when they arrived suddenly from back stage. Great.

When my Uncle passed away, I was grieving because I didn't a chance to go to his funeral. I was just surfing RUclips and found the Bee Gees. They soothed my soul and healed my heart. Thank You Barry, Maurice and Robin for making me smile again.

The collaboration between Bee Gees and Phil Collins goes way back! Phil routinely played drums for Bee Gees in the 1970s. He was a key ingredient in their distinct sound and early success. On July 11 1988, Phil Collins picked up the sticks and joined the Bee Gees for their two song set at this "FreedomFest" concert (to celebrate Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday) at the Wembley Stadium in London.
That's not true at all! He NEVER played drums for them in the 70s, & this performance was the first!😂Maybe get your facts straight!!

This was in 1988 at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Concert. I knew cos I was there just by chance when I was as a student in Britain. To my own surprise they were a real highlight of the show, especially when they arrived suddenly from back stage. Great.
