Restoration of the Rusty SWORD - The OTTOMAN EMPIRE
- Hello folks! Restoration of a sword damaged by the Ottoman Empire. The sword is missing about 10-20 cm. The handle is ruined. I think someone wanted to fix it, and then abandoned this idea, leaving a sword in a damp place. Well, I'll fix it. We proceed to the restoration of the blade.
The most difficult and long of it was the restoration of the handle. I managed to dismantle it, clean it of rust and reattach it to the ball despite all the difficulties. I did not change or sharpen the sword blade itself, because the item will be sent to a private museum after restoration. Also, I cleaned the blade, but left the old look.
I made a new scabbard, glued the scabbard with thin leather and made a simple metal hardware for the scabbard. As usual, I conducted a test for the quality of the handle design - everything is fine! Enjoy watching!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

The Smith who made that all those years ago. I think would be proud of the new life you gave that short sword. Well done
I always think, "that looks dangerous" when you are using tin snips and then in the next shot you have bandaids on your hands 😮❤
Great job!!
"Who are you !!?" ... hahaha ! ... I know the feeling.
Ok, who else had all the hair on their neck sand up when Alex was running the file between the sheet metal edges? 😵💫
Great job as usual. 👍
That the best sword you have it,that design can't be broken for just just normal skills
Another great job, you always make a silk purse from a pigs ear. I like the scabbard fittings but I think you may be showing off withyour new glue mixing pot !
To whomever had this blade previously: what a terrible thing you did.
To Mr Alex: wonderful work restoring the blade. It is great to know the museum values your talents of restoration to be as close to the original format as possible.
Very kindly ^_^
“WHO ARE YOU?!” Took me OUT. I love your videos and your personality.
Thank you! ^_^
Very impressive. Very well done. Use that on the cooking video.

Another great video, and I love JB weld it comes in very handy! Beep Beep
Wow would love to get my hands on something from the Ottoman Empire. That's my peeps! Great work man
Great job. The original handle, grip, and tang are perfect for this blade, although a big pain in the neck as far as rust and oxidation it's very tough we wouldn't want to get clobbered by it's butt of the handle. A weapon in itself. Whew time for a jannisery high five slap down!🌟🙏🌹🕊️🧿
Thank you.
Beautiful work Alex! Beep! Beep!

Awesome! Another curved sword! 😄 Once again you took a sad abused blade and made it beautiful again 😄. Even if the hilt isn't original, it can always be replaced. Thanks to the work you did on the tang. Please keep rescuing these blades from the ravages of time. 🙏

2:12 You were like Thor with that hammer!
)))
🙂I will watch this clip a hundred times
You sir are awsome!
Thank you!!

Chacho you massacered that blade 😅. I heard mcdonalds is hiring lol. If you eff up a burger no one complains 😅.

Awesome always cool stuff always thanks 😎
Incrível. Suas restaurações são de outro nível. Parabéns
“Restoration means direct intervention on the asset through a complex of operations aimed at the material integrity and recovery of the asset itself, at the protection and transmission of its cultural values.". Just remember this.
Good job!
Certainly brought ot back to glory
1:57 It's okay, these things happen a lot
Super!!!!!!!! 😊
Maibi, old peiper - holli words to power?
The balance of the weights of the sides is very important, the ancient masters knew this ratio, and by filling the cavity in the handle you violated the force of the sword’s impact, and even more so the hand will quickly get tired of these changes in gravity.
excelente trabajo. eres un fenomeno
Always an awesome job Alex
Hello Alex, You truly are a master! Thank You for the excellent restoration and video! All the very best to You and Yours from Brian in Southern California
Greeting Brian! Thank you for attention. ^_^ stay safe
You have certainly got a wide variety of skills. I like the way you put in how long you spent on some jobs. It tells people that great work is not to be reduced to a montage. It is the same thing with doing all or most of the project with hand tools. Why would someone spend all of their budget on powered tools just to get the job over faster? Is not the idea of the hobby to enjoy the work?
Alex, I have a question. What is your line of work? Are you a college professor?
Hi! You're absolutely right. I get pleasure , for example , when I work manually with manual tools . Firstly, and secondly, the error is excluded by 95%. I am a graphic designer by profession
@@ScrewsAndTools 👌
Well done on restoring a piece of history!
