I wish everybody talked a little and got The work done like you do. Its always unnessesary stupid small talk and vibrating camera. This is good, 1, 2, 3 finnished. Bang! Well done!
Like the tip about steering to see if noise goes. My mk3 ST TDCI estate keeps flashing traction control light on bends and roundabouts, no I’m not spanking it.
Alan has pointed out that many of the issues with the mk5 are over 200,000 miles. The Mk4 was quite over-engineered it seems 👍 Although I do like the MK5’s bolt on front bearings. Press in bearings are a ball ache!!
I'm getting this but it's more of a squeak not a drone. Eases off 40+mph to the point it goes away. Goes away also at slower speeds when turnin right. This the indicator on the brakes rubbing? Thinking it's on offside rear. Getting a little heat as well after distances. 😢😢
I've also done this at a garage. What the hell could cause my steering wheel to stay to the left after this job? Cause nothing tracking related is changed from what I can see. Could it be a tie rod end on it's way out? And not setteling properly after being unbolted. Cause I've also got new complete control arms not far back, so it's not the lower ball joints.
Hello friends... I have I problem with my mondeo 2009 2.0L TDCI every times the intake manifold will be break exactly in his input on the turbo charger ... I want to ask it there is solution to change this intake by an other simple model because I am in Algeria and there is not lot of mondeo spare parts here... Thanks
Alan these videos will be priceless to MK5 owners over the next 10 years, did you ever run any mk3s in your fleet? If so how did they hold up? I've seen some interesting mileage figures from the mk3
hi, yes we did have many mk3 mondeos,,, they were good cars, never had a camera back then but been meaning to do a vid on the mk3 at some point.. we had a fleet of 2litre tdi engines which just lasted 3-400k miles no problem
@@alan4x Wow that's some crazy mileage. I'm finding at 125k on mine (2.0tdci) I'm having problems chasing everything, mainly suspension parts. Engine wise, it's noisy but runs really well. I'm a new subscriber to your channel after hearing about you on talkford
Is it necessary to fully remove the "knuckle" to remove the bearing assembly ? I realize it definitely makes accessing the (4) bolts in the back though.
Great video , I don’t own a ford potato haha but nonetheless love the videos . I have a question - are there any concerns with torquing any of the fasteners ? I know on the transits the hub nuts are incredibly tight
hi, front bearings are usually more noisy when you put load on them so when you turn left you are loading the offside front bearing. heres a test you can try....jack both front wheels up...have someone spin each wheel while you hold your hand on the suspension coil spring...if you feel roughness through the spring while the wheel is turning the bearing is noisey.
Hi Alan, love the channel mate. Pom in Australia here.. My mk 5 has a rotational humming noise coming from the rear right (I think) as in.. it changes frequency of hum depending on the car's speed. "wum..... wum..... wum... wum..wum.wumwumwumwum.wum..wum...wum....wum.....wum.......wum" Something like that... Lol Only done 30,000 kms. My Ford stealer reckons its the bearing, there aren't any in the country apparently, Have you come across a bearing giving up so soon on one of these? Have owned it from new only 7 months old. Cheers Mate PS... # It's coming home, it's coming home........ #
hi, no i have not had a rear bearing fail yet, most of the mk5 mondeos are over 100k miles now but from what you describe it does sound like a bearing and it is quite possible... have had many things fail far too early, i would get it checked properly and replaced quick before it gets worse
Any chance of a MK4 Mondeo buyers guide video? Considering upgrading my old MK3 Diesel and looking at the MK4 2L diesel manual. Something cheap 2009 ish with 120k or so on the clock? Pretty Please... :)
thats actually not a bad idea for a video, thanks, i think it would be based on what could fall off the car any time soon rather than performance and comfort but yes i will see what i can think of..
Absolutely, mechanical issues and which one would you buy after working on them all? So many variables for potential buyers. Lots of ex taxi MK4's out there under £2000. Risky purchase or a sound bet for those of us that cover less than 6k miles a year. I have a MK3 thats going to need a clutch and a steering rack. But for a bit more i could get a MK4?? Would you?? Or would you stick with the MK3? What ratio of Petrol/Diesel in the Taxi trade? Could be a mini series, A few shorter videos? :) Looking forward to what you have to say.
Alan ..just wanked.away £50!on the back of this video .. and now have to either by a bearing puller or pay to have the job done . I assume the Mk5 you are working on is a petrol as the Mk5 I have needs a baring puller so I have just discovered as do most of the others I have now seen on here
Torque wrench: don’t forget to torque the bolts
Impact gun: hold my beer
Thanks Alan more entertaining than wheeler dealers
No one on RUclips makes a better video. It makes you confident in doing a job yourself. Top work bro. Thanks.
I'm doing some research of the mk5 Mondeo before buying and realising that you need more viewers, this channel is brilliant!

Easier than the MK4 pressing f..ing thing. That is really annoying. More simple! I like it!
Thanks! I’m pretty sure this applies to the 13-current Ford Fusion in the states as well. Thanks for the vid!
I love your torque settings “and wack it back on” 👍👍👍
Best RUclips videos evah and such sound advice. I hope you're still doing these when you have a Gandolf beard and we are on mk 15 Mondeos.
Tuff tiles them just throwing that on the floor, if that had have been me they would have cracked!! 🤣😂Good video Alan 👍👍👍👍👍
So entertaining to watch. Nice work!!

Shall I do an unboxing? That bit made me spit coffee all over my phone 😂😂😂👍
Great vid thank you
oh man , we are so much alike ! I super enjoy this kind of approach :)))) best regards
I'll think I'll stick with my mark iv. Great videos Alan. 👍

Is it posible to make a video, how to change gearbox oil at Mondeo mk5 2016, automatic gearbox🙂🙂🍀
Thnks a lot.
All the best
@@dragannesic55can’t help on that as not in the country
If only the Mk4 was as easy as the Mk5. Great video though.
i just snapped that bolt in the centre spline how do i get it out what size is it,doing different job ,can i drive without washer temporary
Bloody brilliant!

What was the reason to make mk4 Mondeo front wheel assembly so different from normal assembly on mk5 and many other cars?
Merci beaucoup
Magic, this was informative and hilarious, I like the way you don't fk about. 🤣
Glad you enjoyed!

Hello Allen I got MK4 Mondeo 2012 one side I got negative Camber about 3 every thing is ok what can be causing this much Camber ?
Fuckin love this guy 😂😂
Hi Alan do you know what the torque settings are for the driveshaft nut and the torque for the bearing bolts?as I don't have a gun to wack them up.👍
Does the 2019 Ford focus have that set up of 4 bolts retaining the wheel bearing to the hub
Good job 👍
Just awesome , that is all , see yaaa
What was the torque setting of that 32mm hub nut?
@chris jones Thank you.

by the time you have removed the driveshaft it would be quicker and easier to remove the whole assembly

hi, no i just tighten everything with an air gun
Does the front knuckle of the MK5 fit on the MK3? These bearings are so much more conveinient.
no they won't fit a mk3
Impressive
Nice easy one
Is this similar to the 2014 mk 4.5 Mondeo? Think my front driver side is on way out
no your bearing will need to be pressed out of its hub....totally different
Is it the same on Mondeo mk4? Wheel bearing with hub together. I was thinking of replacing myself.
on the mk4 mondeo you would need a press to remove the bearing from the hub as it is not bolted on like the mk5 bearing
Wish the mk4 was the same 😢
👍
Alan I replaced mine in a 2015 too same wheel to as you, im still having that whine noise >85kmh and worse when I turn into that left side. Any Ideas?

The is exactly the same as the old v70 volvos.

that bearing can get badly stuck to the hub if the car is quite old
