There is a great miniseries called Band of Brothers that follows Easy Company of the American Paratroopers from D-day through the end of the war. An excellent show based on the real men.

Russia was an Allie of Germany. Germany turned on Russia. The United States was brought into the war when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Japan was an Allie to Germany. The United States sent our military to both theaters. Russia was in a bitter battle with Germany. It became kind of a deal with Russia. An enemy of an enemy is a friend. So the USA had surplus equipment and shared it with Russia. That's the simple version.

@alanbarger7712 the Hitler Stalin pact was a way for Soviet Union to create a buffer zone to enhance their neutrality. Along with a couple other Baltic countries. What made that agreement any different than the US/UK plan to divvy up half the world after the war?

One of my favorite songs by Jamey. My Way to You, High Cost of Living, That Lonesome Song are also worth a listen. He's written many songs for other artist too, such as George Straight. I think it's normal to have a change of view of the world when you start getting older. I know I don't think about things the same as I did when I was younger. Especially politically

Love your content, good work. Black and white movies: Casablanca, Beinging up baby, The Big Sleep, The Philadelphia Story, (around Christmas time) Its a Wonderful Life, (around Halloween) Arsenic and Old Lace. For WWII movies, The Longest Day (about D-Day), Operation Tokyo, To Hell and Back (a true story played by the actual person, Audey Murphy). Im sorry that the US doesnt have a lot of movies from the Russian perspective. During the war, the US did provide a great deal of arms and men. However, the USSR lost the most people, by far, of all the combatants. I wish we had more of their stories depicting the great sacrifices and contributions they made. There are good movies from the German point of view, like Das Boot.
Thanks for all you do, keep it up!

Two other great songs are "Letters from Home" (by John Michael Montgomery) and "Travelin' Soldier" (by the Dixie Chics). If you do Travelin Soldier do the official VEVO version with 67M views.

Roughly 16 million Americans served in WW2. In regards to the European portion of the war, the Americans fought in Italy then landed in Normandy. We pushed east towards Germany as the USSR pushed West. America was also engaged in the Pacific theater against Japan at the same time. In my opinion, you can't say one nation won the war in Europe. The USSR took the brunt of the casualties due to battles like Stalingrad, and the USSR being so poorly supplied.

  • @TheJoshuaPimentel

USSR had war on their doorstep. The US had to bulk up and finally travel an army halfway around to get into a fight that didn’t really concern us. Luckily we invented portable stars before anyone else.

16 million Americans where envoled in WWII.
400,000 Americans died in that war fighting over seas. So not just supplying equipment.

Like others have said 16 million US soldiers were involved and around 400k us soldiers killed. Fighting on two fronts between Europe and pacific. As Japanese admiral Yamamoto said after Pearl Harbor they woke the “sleeping giant”. Some would argue that the US’s changed the direction of the entire war.

Not my kind of song, but if it does help people remember WWII, so that it doesn't happen again, that's a good thing.
