My New Sounder Setup

- It's been a very long time coming but I have finally changed my sounder set up in the boat!
In the video, I go through some of the sets in getting it all up and running, initial thoughts and it wouldn't be a vid without a couple sneaky fish too.
Be great to hear what you think of the Garmin sounders as I have the same one. Hopefully you can show us some of the settings you use in the bay.

Great Vid Pete, enjoyed immensely. I can understand you changing to Garmin for the Live Scope but I am certain you will miss the Humminbird when it comes to side scan and down scan.

I run two echomap 12’s in my boat too, great units I love the way they disconnect from the bracket so I can remove them from the boat but only thing I don’t like is I can’t record the screen like the gps maps can.

I installed Echomap Ultras on both my boats. I love them. I am yet to install the front mount on the bigger boat. I recommend going to Trymax Marine for spare mounts, transducers etc... They were very helpful and were well priced. The GT56 transducers are fantastic. I have caught so much with the units.

Hi Peter. Great to see you have gone Garmin mate. The Livescope is addictive. The SideVu is excellent with the GT56 but i recommend you run the scroll speed at either 5 or on auto. TVG off for most of the Bay, and i reckon your brightness is a bit hot - i would dial that back a bit. If you set both DownVu and SideVu both at mega frequency you will find the SideVu darkens up - so best to set DownVu on 800mhz. Cheers

Thanks for sharing what you’ve done. That’s a very impressive installation with your sounders. I haven’t done much exploring around Moreton Bay. I’m not after your favourite spots, but can I ask where you launch to get to such an interesting area.

Nice vid as always mate. I'm not sold on livescope yet but my mate just bought a boat with it so it might change 🤣🤣 You sure throw that bfs effortlessly! I back off on flathead with 6lb and here you are pulling in jewies 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Where Livescope can be very useful is in perspective mode using it to search large areas of shallow water in the Southern Bay in particular. Cheers

Hi mate love your vids would be unreal if you went through sidescan on a future episode and really showed us what Jew look like on the sounder ect cheers mate

I would say the bird has slightly better side scan but Garmin is far superior for everything else. But it’s early days tbh mate.

@@tomefishing6145 think it was from Bunnings, it’s hard plastic mate. Little tip, put it in some boiling water to soften up 😎.

Hi Peter, how do you find the Bassco Boat? I know you mostly fish southern bay, can it go northern Bay or light offshore?

Shame you've changed over. I couldn't run garmin after being humminbird for so long. Garmins live scopes way better no doubt.
