anyone else think they should have lit it with a flaming arrow? or is that just me?
Solarstar10 no they climb up
Either that or a dragon.
Very disappointing you weren’t there to tell them this…
THE BEACON IS LIT
Gondor calls for aid .....
And Rohan will answer!
@@vitorkk328 internet explorer memes be like
I'm going to light the biggest fire the north has ever seen!
Can you imagine being a fish in the water around there?
"HOLY SHIT WHAT IS HAPPENING??"
What a waste of good reusable wood. It's just stupid.
wood is re-newable...
CRY ME A FUCKING RIVER, ROG!
>pallet wood
>reusable
hahahahahaha. hahah. ha. ha. oh you're serious.
Jesse Carr Not crying. Just pointing out a fact. I suppose they celebrate like this because John the Baptist burned pallets too. Yeah, I'm sure that's it.
woofzor Yes...wood from pallets is reusable for many, many things. You're laughing because your embarrassed that you didn't know this? Yeah, that's it.
"It's not about the record. It's about sending a message... *Everything* burns"
I've watched this video multiple times and I've calculated that the wood was in free fall, which is impossible. This was taken down on purpose.
Stoltenberg lied, pallets died
Three years and only 13 upvotes for that?
"i've calculated"... GTFO you stupid fuck.. The pallets slided over the edge, nothing else u dumb fuck
But why?
A little disappointed because they didn't play oldschool norwegian black metal while burning the thing
If a big chunk of your bonfire falls in a lake and doesn't burn, how can it be any kind of FIRE record?
song - Bride of Punkara (asian dub foundation as written in the description)
It's not about the money, it's about sending a message.
As in "You pallets mess with us, this is what you get!" That'll keep the other pallets in line for the coming year.
wow, that's like a 12 story building
super intense
What do you mean it didn't collapse in on itself in a free-fall?
If it's one thing Norway does not lack, it's wood!
The largest bonfire had a volume of 1,715.7m³. It was built by Mladi Bostanj of Slovenia in 2007. And, at a height of 43.44m, it’s also the tallest in the world too.
Fellow Imgurians, hello?
You anti-social bastards, SAY HI!
Rome No....
Rui Nation :(
Hello!
Gday
Even this stood up longer than the world trade center...
I don't recall this being hit by a plane.
Building 11 didn't recall being hit by a plane either.
I would have expected this tower to collapse instantaneously into it's own footprint at free-fall speeds. Oh wait, no jet fuel. Got it.
How about the weight of a 100 story tower vs some wood you pathetic moron?
Does this produce lye when it hits the water? If so does groundwater contamination occur?
Its seawater, and its not normal that it falls into the water. They slso got nets around
Ifunny bought me here
Same
how much did you get paid?
same
it is far from a world record: The largest bonfire had an overall volume of 1,715.7 m³ (60,589 ft³). It was built by ŠKD mladi Boštanj, and lit on 30 April 2007 in Boštanj, Slovenia, to celebrate Labour Day, aand, this bondfire (Slinningsbålet). falls every year, making it not count
Why wouldn't you light it from the bottom?
Ugh
Justin Bell cuz then it would have fallen into the see, pick up that mess?
aint nobody got time for that
+ taller fall = more danger for boats near it
ThePaalanBoy
It fell over anyway.
Justin Bell sometimes it does, but it have lost some height then
btw if it falls to early, it won't burn long, *show's over* and everyone goes home.
Justin Bell it fell 2 times this year (yesterday) uploading video now X)
Justin Bell light it from the bottom is not a good idea
Of course it was in Norway. Because they're metal as fuck!
@lnsouciance ? I am pretty sure that midsummer traditions are older than 90 years, and it has a deeper purpose than rivalry. But the aggie bonfire is pretty awesome to:)
Aggie bonfire is still 100x better. it has a history, a tradition, a meaning, and a deeper purpose other then just "be big"
@dragonswingz it all depends on the tree. It's all about conservation. In my state, for every tree that is cut down, 2 more are planted. This means that down the road, we will have double the trees we began with, and when those get cut down, double of that. Trees offer energy a hell of a lot faster than fossil fuels which takes millions of years to develop in the earths crust
at 0:57 , is someone sitting on top? How did he get back down in time?
He jumped. The jump was editited out of the vid.
I think the world's biggest bonfire was is Dresden in February 1945
not annymore...
too soon
savage
Rolman80 80 trees are better fire material than oil for the enviroment. Stop burning so much oil america and come and bitch later
how does someone measure a bonfire?
@HFCHSvids and how many years will it take for the trees to get that big.
the lighting strategy should be something like 1. top 2. the side at which the wind blows. 3. the other side. All with appropriate pauses inbetween
I'd like to know the music track used in this video...I'd like to find more of the music...I love it...
@dragonswingz Trees are not "precious" you can replant them, they are renewable and extremely abundant.
Why did they light it from the top, not the bottom?
was thinking the exact same thing
Because the bottom would collapse before the flame even reached the top.
Use some critical thinking..
Alright.. when the bottom has burnt to a crisp(doesn't even have to go that far), how stable do you think the tower will be?
FOR THE GLORY OF SATAN OF COURSE
Are those guys building it harnessed to anything?
no, just teens from the city ;)
the beacons are lit, gondor calls for aid!!!
Call-to-Arms of the Rohirrim!
yes!! beautiful game reference.
*movie
*book
wait, LotR is fiction?
Viva San Juan!!! Greetings from. #Spain
this is the reason sky scrapers don't get built with wood beams, or with jet fuel used in between as lube.
Whats the name of the song?
We should do this on the 4th of July in the USA.
make it as tall and wide as the Statue of Liberty!
But then everyone there would get arrested for being a terrorist.

Anyone have the name of the song?
Reminds me of a Halloween party that a buddy of mine threw one year. We got a shit ton of old pallets from work, piled them up in his back yard, doused them in gasoline and lit it. As the evening progressed, we threw more and more pallets onto the fire. At one point, the phone rang and we all hear ..."Hey Steve, you alright over there?!" "Yeah, we're great, what's up?" "Well, I'm on I-94 right now, and I can see huge flames shooting up over the tree line from the general direction of your house." "Nah man, we're good, just having a party, come on over!"
This the worlds largest waste of a precious resource
One freak gust of wind, the guys climbing that thing are screwed!
I was thinking of the Aggie bonfire that ended in tragedy.
anyone else think it's really really stupid they didn't pour gasoline over the whole thing so it would all blaze at once... topple over is a waste of blaze
i agree, it burns half the way then falls over every year, and it is lith on the top for like hours before anything happens.
@dragonswingz About 20-30 years, you plant them with the future in mind, its not like there aren't other acres to chop down and resow while you wait.
The biggest bonfire in NI last year contained 0 tyres
Jaimie has summoned the clan...
who lit it?
like wouldent you burn to death, not being able to get of in time?
Do you know what a fuse is?

No te lo puedo creer! Esto realmente lo grabaste con una TZ10? Que excelente imagen!
[ENG]
I can't believe it! Had you really record this with a TZ10? What a great image!
[ITA]
Non posso crederlo! Avesti realmente registrato questo con una TZ10?! Che grandiosa imagine!
has anyone seen mike? last time I saw him he was inside fixing a pallet...
This of the giant S'MORES you could make!!!
and those guys are just chilling up there? i would be shitting my pants, and I consider, that i'm not suffering for afraid of heights
They build bonfires bigger than this all over my country every year in july
9gag sent me here
+jonathon322000 me too! :D
+jonathon322000 brother!
+jonathon322000 same...
yep curiosity burned the cat
fuck 9gag.
Would LOVE to see this in person, can you just go? As a tourist? Thanks!
teamedenborough yes, everyone can go see it for themselves It is an anual tradition and this year it is lit the 20th of june. It takes place in the city of Aalesund in Norway, hope ill see you here next year! For more information follow our facebook page «Slinningsbålet» and feel free to ask us anything!
I can only picture Cheryl Tunt strangling herself and yelling sploosh as this happens.
We never do anything like this in the states. Or at least Houston.
I live in this city named ålesund and every year we have this tradition of building a bonfire and you may be suprised we dont buy the pallets ..... we steal them from all kinds of buissnisses across ålesund. do you realy think we are stupid enouff to spend all that money ??? we are known for beeing the most greedy people off all of Norway ... but annyway you are allways welcome to join our annual bonnfire the 25 of june :) its a heck of a partey!!!
Apparently the Steel Nails Melted
I saw a couple of images that did harken back to some of those from the footage of 9/11.
god and aliens must be like WTF guys?
This is the consequence of a Lego culture run amok.
This is the most Viking thing I've ever seen
If you do the math you realise that this happened closer to the ercetion of the pyramids than to the viking age
Looks like they should have built WTC tower 1 and 2 in wood pallets. Then they would have lasted longer than 45 min.
you know there had to be atleast one fish that got hit by the pallets.
It is too bad they didn't light it from the bottom, on the windward side.. then the whole thing would've been engulfed. still pretty cool, just from a structural standpoint. thats a tall building to make by hand!
Great Britain even Greater! Defend your country, protect your children!
Them guys at the top have some balls
There's something about Norway and fire...
if they lit it from bottom bottom would weaken and collapse the thing before it caught on fire. but I find it lame without a few gas tanks hidden in there somewhere. burn burn.. burn
... BOOM. ' )
They should have put a cross on top. That would have been in the spirit of the vikings.
Some clergy on top would do also, but I guess for 21st century Norway that's pushing it :-))
Fire travels up. Come on Norway, you're smarter than that.

Thes how money trees ? I'm very sad
That's it, I'm moving to Norway.
Around here you can get $5 a pallet, one expensive fire! Think of how many trees had to come down to make that fire, the fuel to cart them to the mills, fuel to take to pallet manufacturer, fuel to cart them to where they got them, fuel to get them there, fuel for clean up......go ahead and blast me about it but what a damn waste.
This is so metal
They lit the biggest fire the North has ever seen :D
There was one from 2001 that was bigger
I literally went to look it up, and just typed "world's largest" before realizing. that was a good one
THE BEACONS ARE LIT! Gondor calls for aid.
Looks awesome!
This is both insane and awesome on so many levels. =D
@topnegotiator It is!! Thank u!
very cool and viking-ish thing to see!
Somewhere out there an environmentalist is absolutely fuming with rage...
Buring wood does not pollute anyways, so why do they wine...........
We actually have more regrowth of wood than we chop down. So no, I don't think so :)
Everyone's arguing about pollution, am I the only one who is thinking fuck climbing that
Ifunny meme made me look this up. Like and comment if same.
stronger than a building 7
I need to say I have been disappointed with the burning behaviour. Most of it fell into the water. Like come on, don't you have talented engineers?
Its built by kids
Good, now clean it up.
What an amazing structure, almost a shame to burn it.
they're gonna need bigger marshmallows...
anyone got some big marshmallows?
I bet it was also a big cleanup.
shall we roast some fukin marshmellows
