So in the Game as you go through Oceanus "Song of the Sirens" plays, at first it's just that first section with the humming, but as you get closer to them the lyrics kick in.
The other two are the Boss themes, the second one is only added after you've beaten them a few times.
Yes, Scylla and the Sirens play the song while fighting you, the COOLEST thing is that the Guitar Vocals and Drum are all tied to the characters, so when you take one out that section cuts out (or get's muffled in Scylla's case, since she just hides in her shell)

So, I am gonna claw is bassically a second song that can be played while you fight the sirens once you defeat them the first time, it's pretty much a disstrack from Scylla to Melinoe, the character you control 😂

Would 100% recommend playing Hades 2! Everything about it is amazing. Story, characters, music, art, gameplay, fun. To me it’s a perfect fusion of gameplay and artistic vision and execution. No hesitation, two thumbs up! 👍 👍

I'm so glad you enjoyed these songs because Supergiant has really invested in some bangers for their games lmao.
For context regarding I Am Gonna Claw, that song only comes up after you have fought them at least once. Scylla writes it specifically as a diss track for the main character, Melinoe. I love it so much and it makes me laugh every time. Also you were right, Scylla and the Sirens are literally a band and you have to take out each of the members to win the fight. The devs will drop parts from the track once you take out a member, so if you take out the drummer then the drums will drop off the track. It's really great! The repetitive nature of the songs is also well-designed with the pacing of the fight as it's not too distracting while you're busy.

Fun fact, Greek sirens were originally giant birds with the heads of women. Overtime they've been conflated with mermaids due to them both preying on sailors when they fall overboard or crash their ships.

Since you spoke about the relationship between "Song of the Sirens" and "Coral Crown", I thought I should let you know there's also a fourth siren song, "Song of the Deep" that pairs with "I Am Gonna Claw" in I think a similar way!

So glad to see you going into game music! I love the analysis.
ETA, some music you might check out that I'd love your take on: Hoyo's music (the joke being that hoyo is a music studio that makes games). Specifically la vaguelette. Also I'd love your take on why the From Software music tends to hit the way it does-it's renowned for its feel, but I rarely see people go into the breakdown of it.

Coral Crown is a song born from the historic success of the Sirens; I Am Gonna Claw is a song born from their failures against the player. The first is one of structure, confidence, poetry and practice. The second has a ridiculous name and over-the-top lyrics because it's from a place of frustration and impotent rage; the "oh yeah?" of diss tracks.

    It's actually a k sound, so something like 'Skill-uh'.

Speaking of "adding lyrics to boss music", if you haven't listened to the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance boss tracks, they universally slap.

This game is AMAZING, and you should definitely play it if you're interested, but you should play the prequel first, another excellent game (with equally excellent music)!
