  • the side brush on our roomba was spinning intermittently. I took it apart and could see why. I purchased a replacement side brush motor from the Irobot store and this video show the install and results.
    I will do a follow up if the motor fails, or after six months whichever comes first.

    Thanks for the help. When I took the motar apart the gears were fine but there was an insane amount of lube. I cleaned a good amount of it with paper towel. All good now.

    Great vid. In my case though my gears were fine. The lube used had solidified slightly around the gear that spins the brush, causing the shaft to bind on the hole it goes through. Scraped off the solidified white gunk on the shaft and the hole and back in business!

    Excelente vídeo! Eu comprei umas escovas laterais chinesas para meu Roomba, e encontrei esse vídeo pesquisando dicas para troca delas. Depois de assistir, até desisti de colocá-las, pra não danificar as engrenagens de meu robô! 😅👍🏼

    Thanks for this. For me, there was some hair(my wife has long red hair), wound around the little spur gear under the brush dome. The tiny bit of hair made the dome lift itself off the gear. Simply clearing the maybe 1mm hair clog and re-tightening that brush was enough.

      Man! Thank you so much for this comment! This was the same for me! My wife has long black hair though lol. I figured what you said was it because ours is only a few months old to be acting up according to what the man said in the video.

    I had to take out and re-seat the battery and was experiencing much the same issue but it seems to have resolved itself.. I wonder if there is a certain amount of tension built into the system that could accelerate the degradation.

      I think the reason mine ended up breaking was the replacement brush we used...got from amazon...looks to have been a chinese knockoff and it caused too much resistances which then causes the teeth on the internal gears to break....which means nooo spinny

    I cant believe irobot uses plastic gear. My old one lasted years and years and years, but my new robovac (from Eufy) lasted 6 months before it started to make an awful lot of noise. Spinning the side brush slowly, and I could actually feel some of the teeth in the gear had stripped off. Also it's MUCH more difficult replacing stuff in a Eufy than an irobot. However the problem with irobot is that their parts are super expensive, but on the flipside, they also last a lot longer.

    Hi, good video thanks. I have a roomba 675, the side spin brush starts but then stops, I have read that it might be hairy and dirty inside, I already cleaned it but outside. I don't want to open it because warranty since it has only 6 months but here in Mexico it seems customer service/warranty is not good from Roomba. Don't know what to do.

    • @Reviewsandmore
      @Reviewsandmore  4 года назад +1

      go ahead and open it up...warranty is not great anyway. If the side brush stops spinning at random intervals this video shows how to replace.

      @@Reviewsandmore thanks for your response. I talked with Amazon customer service, I explained that iRobot Mexico didn't answer the phone nor emails. They offered me a refund (80%),. I decided to accepted, I already sent it back, waiting for the refund. I am planning to buy the 671 or a newer model but in a couple months when a middle year sale is on. Thanks!

    My first two days with this decide was not fun and I almost cried thinking it was a waste of money. The brush always stops when it cleans along the wall. I clean it off even though it’s nothing there, turn it back over and hit the clean button. Just for it to restart and go vouge instead of completing the first task :( . I will try this out and come back.

      Yes

    • @josephbennett3482
      @josephbennett3482 Год назад

      All roombas side brushes are supposed to always spin no matter what model it is , the brushes seem to stop sometimes when the robots are cleaning against something and turn causing the brush to temporarily stop because the motors aren't strong enough to keep them spinning , a few RUclipsrs have noted that the side brush motors are pretty weak and that irobot should have designed them to be stronger than what they are.
