Lyrics sound generic, but in the final version they're about materialism and temptation. Which is something very related to 100% people in the world, glad they changed it. The Demo somehow sounds more Ethereal than the final version, maybe because there's less noises in the intro.
Wouldn't be so sure about that. Tolkki said that he wrote this song when his dog died, while Koltipelto said that he wrote the song after his black cat kept staring at him. Strato is notorious for not being clear on what the songs mean, especially in the Tolkki era. Personally, the lyrics in this demo sound more akin to Fright Night and Dreamscape, so I can understand why they would want to change it up when Visions dropped.

This demo version stayed so much better than the original.
lyrics are way better than other edition
the demo version is waay better, in the studio version they killed all the micro dynamics, details, soundstage, there are more instruments playing.

Agree! I have personally talked to Tolkki a few times on the phone and i asked him about it, and he said that the song indeed was for his doggie.
