Ingredients:
1/4 cup Thoor Dal
1.5 cup Water
1 big Lemon sized Tamarind
1 cup Water
2 Tomatoes
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp Pepper
5-6 Garlic cloves
2 tsp Oil
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
10-12 fenugreek
2 red Chillies
Curry leaves
1/8 tsp Turmeric powder
1/8 tsp Asafoetida
1 tsp Rasam powder
required Salt
Water if required
Coriander leaves

You have got varieties of measurement cups....good choice and collection. Your recipes are always awesome. We too do the same...but boil the tamarind water and tomato separately for few min then add as what you have mentioned. You can try that as well. It will taste good.
