    I love a fresh relaxer!

your hair looks fabulous! Miss Toya.
I used to be relaxed but after going through radiation treatment, a lot of my hair fell out and it grew back in a totally different texture than I had before, much, much more coarse. I would love to get a relaxer again but currently, I don't have the energy it would take to maintain it.
I'm still hoping I can return to relaxed hair someday.
When I was relaxed I went to a stylist about every 16 weeks for a retouch and trim, while I took care of it in between chemical services.
Like you, I washed my hair once a week and if I was using heat it was only once, after the wash.
I slept in either braids when I was wearing a braid-out style, or a loose ponytail because my hair-wrap game remained at level: struggle. 🤣
Although she was a good stylist I still had uneven results.
One side of my head was noticeably straighter than the other.
However, I didn't have any breakage even when I would get the occasional highlights.
My hair was healthy and grew to midback length. I loved it.

🌼 Good tips. Unfortunately , many women don’t have access to a qualified hairstylist. Especially a stylist that’s professional. It’s like a needle in a hay stack. A stylist relaxed my hair and I realized later my hair was under-processed . When I asked her why my leave out was puffy and frizzy ( I was wearing a Upart wig a month after the relaxer ). She told me my hair was 70% relaxed. I understand she wants to keep texture in my hair. But my hair seems like I received a texturizer. I don’t want to use high heat on my hair. Even if I did ( 350 ) , my hair will eventually get frizzy and puffy.

Once I started going to a professional consistently for my relaxers, I started to see my hair flourish. I now relax twice a year and do a hard protein, Olaplex #1 &2, trim and rinse at that time. I only wear it down when I need to but it stays wrapped. I am having some breakage right at the front from when I wash my face so now I wear a terry band over my scarf to keep from pulling my hair when washing. I do stay on top of my moisture/protein balance when I shampoo bi-weekly. I don't really use heat, I roller set and sit under dryer. My heat tools are on/off switch so I will get new ones if I decide to use those.

My rinse actually has made my hair very nice light browns and I love it. And yes I hasn't a lot of gray...
Why you don't have like 500k subbie is beyond me...cause your speaking truth.

I have a smart question. I wanna start roller setting to keep heat out of my head for a while. BUT I only go to the salon for relaxer every 6 months and trims. Now I go every other month for trims. Wouldn't I still have to blow dry to trim??? I know you don't cut wet hair 🤔 hope I'm making sense

You can trim wet hair. My stylist trims my hair wet, before she puts the rollers in.

My hair doesn't thrive regardless of it being natural or relaxed. No matter how hard I try with it. Considering going back bald.

I thought the same. Sis start massaging your scalp once a week and take liquid iron every day.

I’ve been natural for about 17 years. Its been a learning process this whole time. Stay encouraged. Keep showing your hair love and care. It can thrive. Keep doing the investigative work to find the cause of breakage and you will get there.
For me it was discovering the right protein/moisture balance, using satin, avoiding elastics and cotton fabrics, low manipulation, and avoiding oil directly on my scalp. I also re-discovered the benefits of pre-poo treatments. Hair changes over time too so you have to stay in tune with its current needs.
Best wishes on your hair health!

It’s hard finding a stylist that specializes in relaxers. They all act like relaxers are the devil 😭🤣

Do half and half for your relaxer. Then you can do it yourself.

No thank you, professionals require a license to perform them for a reason..

    • @Somethingaboutmary1

@ToyaJtv I know, but you're a professional 🤷🏿‍♀️.... I just thought you were interested in being fast enough to do it yourself...... but there's nothing wrong with getting a professional to do it. It was just an idea. Im a cosmetologist in a state with hardly nobody brave enough to do a relaxer, and if they are, they want ridiculous amounts of money. Do what's best for you. In my case, I'm natural, but when I was relaxing, I did it myself. The only times I've ever had burns or damage was when I paid other professionals to do my hair. But if you find something that works for you, by all means, do that. Great video.
