    Is it a bad idea to get your relaxers and trims done at home if you're not a professional?
    I relax every 5 months and only apply it to the new growth and when trimming I use sharp hair scissors and I trim vertically in small even sections then around the perimeter of my head.
    I've had a lot of bad salon experiences, for example, one hairdresser refused to base my scalp with petroleum jelly or anything and my scalp and forehead got burnt, she refused to clipped my ends even though they were messy and splitting.
    Another one even told me it was okay to relax your hair the day AFTER taking down my box braids. I could go on and on about these experiences. Hence why I decided to do it at home. And I only use heat when I relax. So I use heat about twice a year.

      I would advise you do not get a relaxer with permanent color.

    Damn... I'm 26 I've had relaxed hair since I was 13, now my hair is falling out rapidly and now I see why... I don't drink water, I NEVER rapped my hair... I never added color (thank God) I flat Iron my hair like 3/4 times a week! I dont care for my hair in no way! I think the only way to bring it back now is to cut it alllll off....

    My daughter puts her hair in a ponytail a sleeps in a satin cap and her hair breaks off really bad. How can I help her with this.

    • @yvettebrown-johnson1264
      @yvettebrown-johnson1264 5 лет назад +2

      Yaco Thomas, have your daughter moisturize her hair with a really hydrating leave in moisturizer and seal it with an oil. Have her wrap her hair (where you comb the hair all around your head. You don't have to, it just puts less stress on the hair). Then wrap with a silk or satin scarf, satin cap can go over scarf. Hopefully, this will help. Good luck.

    Thank you for sharing you knowledge. Question: I'm relaxed and my hair and straight from the roots for about 3-4 inches then wavy in the middle ( causing shedding and knots) and straight toward the ends, what can I do? I stretch my relax and apply by a professional twice a year.

    Hi Toya, im getting a virgin relaxer this up and coming week. People keep saying that my hair will fall out without further explanation. I think that as long as im staying on top of treatments and trims Im safe. Another misconception is that stretching relaxers causes hair loss?? Is this true at all??

    • @ToyaJtv
      @ToyaJtv  6 лет назад

      none of that is true, do what you want with your hair!
