I used to watch this Show when I was a kid before going to School. Then William Conrad who did the narration was also the Star of Cannon where so many Actors/Actresses got their Start who would become Stars on Shows lie Dallas, Falcon Crest, Knots Landing, The Young & The Restless. Jess Walton & Marj Dusay did multiple Guest Starring Roles who of course would work with each other on Capitol then Jess woudl play Jill Foster Abbot #7 on The Young & The Restless, while Marj would work on Santa Barbara, All My Children, but is probably best known for her role as Alexandra Spaulding #2 on Guiding Light.

It seemed to be across the nation on PBS membership campaigns. As I noted in the summary, I got it from PBS in Connecticut during that same March 1991 time period.

THE MOOSE THAT ROARED by Keith Scott tells of Jay Ward's frustration with Gamma Productions in Mexico City. Its building was split in two by an earthquake--animators crossed the crack on planks! Gamma sent work shot from torn and filthy cels. The sequence at 38:07 has a hole in one cel! I'd like to see the footage of Natasha walking that sent Ward's crew into fits. Still, the hinky animation lent a certain charm to the cartoons. But at the time, it drove them NUTS!

  • @stevensprunger3422

We were so inspired by the show growing up that we went to believe it was Sunset Boulevard there was the J ward it was Bullwinkle statue and then you could walk in there and buy cells raw cells to make your own animation and we were going to go into animation
This was during my college years in the antelope Valley
Well we never really did animate but I went onto become a graphic artist and use Photoshop and that came around and no matter the Bullwinkle and rocky show was incredibly influential to us college kids

Long time fan of the show here, enjoyed it since finding reruns in the 1970s during childhood. Of course most of the satire and wit flew over my head as a youngster. They got away with a lot of wacky humor and naughty jokes, like the little aliens answering "How do you start a fire?" by saying "Rub two Boy Scouts together". Also, the crude style of animation (done cheaply in Mexico as I understand) didn't matter because the voice acting, writing and pacing were what counted on this zany series.
June cracks me up, claiming she purposely didn't give Natasha Fatale a Russian accent. It's totally that.
This special, however, seems very heavy on clips from the R&B Show and not quite enough "meat" on the making of these funny misadventures. I know, there _are_ interviews peppered throughout with people behind the cartoon, but I wasn't expecting so much filler. Mind you, I'm glad this is available on YT for admirers of the series to discover. Lastly: it's ironic that this video aired on PBS, because the R&B Show poked fun at public television (even in a clip included in this documentary, ribbing the pledge drives). Nothing was sacred, everything was fodder, LOL. Thanks.
