    I do recommend getting the 6 mil drum liners in bulk, (I got 40). I use them for yard work and for various survival kits and my vehicle kits.

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад +1

      Absolutely can't have too many. They're good for soooooo many things. They don't tear as easy as the 3 mil but its not that hard to get a hole in them either

    Nice kit set up..do you break down your camp after 1st night..what size dry bag did you use for wool blanket

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  4 года назад +2

      During my experience there we did break down our tent/hammock camp after the 1st night. Your experience may differ. I took my wool blanket in a 20L dry bag.

    Hi There; Question, have you done a 'debrief' video, telling of your experiences with your kit ? Just would like to know, what worked, what didn't, what you took and didn't use, what , if anything, you wished you had taken ! TIA.

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад +3

      I did a short debrief of my experience at the school and of the class in a previous video called "Hammock and Taters", an overnighter video. I did not make one specific to the gear. I can tell you I took ONLY the gear on the list and it worked out perfectly. Didn't like carrying the queen blanket around but it wasn't bad. Maybe a lighter backpack would have been the only change I would make. Some items we used, some we did not but all the gear on the list has to go. There's alot of walking so pack light.

    Did the garberg come sharp out the box? Great vid btw👊🏻

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад

      Hey matty! Out of the box the Garberg is very sharp. Not someplace you accidentally want your fingers or hand. I'm very happy with mine and still use it somewhat regularly. I've since purchased a PKS Kephart and it is my go to blade.

    I know the class is time consuming but are there rules for people who smoke? Just curious

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад +1

      There weren't really rules per-say. Its mostly a common sense thing from a conservationist standpoint. There is a place for trash 🗑 at the classroom shelter where you can dispose of butts after they've gone out or cooled off. May have to pocket some until you can get back.

    From what I get weight is the deal. That and a mindset knowing you'll be under stress, tired, hungry, perhaps cold . . . VERY uncomfortable. No worries. Embrace the suck. And to take food you don't have to cook. Nice sheath btw. Tattoos? Pretty damn righteous. In case you're wondering I'm buying the course. HELP ME GOD!

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад

      Yes! If you dont need it dont take it. Stick right to the list. Extra clothes and knowing the weather are pretty key. Knowing those things and experiencing them are two different things. Quick foods are best, beef jerky, granola bars and pro tip...wait for it.........gatorade powder. Thank you 🙏one of my sheaths. Long time hobby. I am along time collector of ink and almost out of room. You'll be glad you did! It's worth every second.

      I am planing on takeing one with km the next couple of years ik it's not on the list but should I take my cook kit.. It a pot pan cup came with a small tea kettle (which isn't necessary) and then I just have hot chocolate and pat meal stashed in it

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад

      @@lypsohgameing2859 the pot, pan and other items won't be necessary and will be weight you'll carry for nothing. Good to have on a normal outing but not needed for the class

      @@the419outdoors okay thank you.. So when I do what should I take for food stuff like some gronala bars then? Or.. Like the brackets of pat meal and just eat it from a nesting cup?

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад

      @@lypsohgameing2859 In my experience some good stuff to take is beef jerky, cliff bars, granola bars, trail mix. You may have time at the end of the first night to make a MRE. No promises on that

  • @anthonygomez446

    What kind of food dit you pack for the class?

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад +1

      mostly very simple things like trail mix. I also took granola bars and the tuna packets of different flavors you can get at walmart. you may or may not have time to cook like a moutain house but i personally didnt wanna carry the extra crap. I was mentally prepared to operate on very little of anything to eat. Pro tip though......take gatorade powder. Enjoy your experience!

    When did you hey the compass? I want one too and I saw several recent amazon reviews saying their compass was trash

    • @the419outdoors
      @the419outdoors  3 года назад

      I bought my compass about 4 months before I went to the class. The knockoffs may be garbage but that one is spot on. Silva compass is comparable but the MC2 is the best non-lenstatic compass out there in my opinion

      @@the419outdoors maybe the reviews I saw were people getting a covid product that was defective, or they got a cheap copy that isn't legitimate
      I'd like to take a shot with one, and I think my best bet is to go to a brick and mortar store and handle the product I want to buy rather than amazon. I appreciate the feedback, thanks
