It is used for this in extender mode, but it is also used to use the extender in access point mode. Thanks for your comment ;-)

Nice tutorial. Which one would you suggest: this one or D-Link DAP-1620? (I want to have both options: to use a device as WI-FI extender or Access point.)
D-Link DAP-1620 because it also has a web interface for advanced configurations
@trafegon found out that DAP-1620 AC1300 also has MESH capability so that's my choice.

I have a problem. I connect in one first floor the repeater and I did al the steps and everything is fine but then I unplug it and went to the second floor where my room is and it can’t connected even if I have another Ethernet connected there
It needs to be conected via WiFi obligatory or it can be just with the Ethernet

@cesarrafael4830 i think maybe the LAN cable is too long or it cannot process, I'm not sure. I did the same thing like you did, because i first did downstair it is easy and near, then go upstairs, LAN cable also attached the same router, it turned blue the signal, but no connection.

Is the main router stronger than the wifi extender? Can you make a speed test in both?
I did a test and the repeater never reached significant speed. Even the main router next to the xioami repeater, the main router reached 320MB and the xiaomi 55Mb. When 2G less than 30Mb. At 10 meters it reached less than 20 MB. I configured it through the My home app. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong and I don't know if there's a solution. I bought the repeater from the official store, on Aliexpress.

It doesn't work, it flashes orange indicator and doesn't stop, even when I push the reset button...
I did my repeater as acess point but don't get above 100 Mb and the speed of my internet is 600 Mb
Same. 90mbps only , but my internet is 200mbps
If it were as simple as that, I wouldn't be looking for this video. It did not work. Once I switch to AP mode it goes offline and doesn't come back.
I knew your answer would be "Just switch it to AP mode!"
