Cool chat, it still amazes me how new fans of the band fall into listening to them, be it the 60's 70's 80's etc., then discover the catalogue, it all has legs. Cheers & thanks.
Great conversation, Justin, very enjoyable video. I love to hear how people get introduced to the Rolling Stones and then get into them almost like it's a calling. You're right about the Stones of the 80's and 90's. It was a wonderful period and deserving of attention and praise. I love every period of the Stones, from beginning to the present. I was 7 when "Satisfaction" came out and very fortunate to have been in my teenage years when "Sticky Fingers" was all over the radio. I've been so deeply hooked on them ever since. Please do more conversations like this. True fans love to hear other fans talk about their favorite songs, albums, periods of their history, etc. Thanks for this, Justin.
Great to hear Michael! I'll definitely be doing more of these types of talks--stay tuned! Great to hear we've got an uber fan like yourself here 👍😎 Thanks again for watching!
@@michael1415 we're parallel on loving all the periods of stone-age! I was 5 when satisfaction came out and a teen by the 70's and truly was so hooked... 80's, 90's brought tons of great stuff, all appreciated!
@@annmurphy8498 Thank you, Ann, truly appreciate your comment. The Stones are a staple of my life, period, could not live without them, and I stress again how every period of their career has importance to me. When you look at the evolution of the band as artists, and as humans, it's a natural progression. When you're in your 40's as the Stones were when "Undercover" came out, you're just not 25 anymore. You've matured and evolved as we all do. Nothing is static, and this is what's great about the Stones, that ability to adapt to the times and maintaining relevance while creating great music.
Yeah some IORR album love !! Such an underrated and unappreciated album imo … a great companion to GHS !! Midnight Rambler is so great. I love the studio version, but the Ya ya‘s version is also unreal. Having lived in Boston my entire life I was pretty surprised when I heard let it bleed for the first time and caught on that the song was about the Boston strangler after hearing about that crime spree for years. I have to agree with you, Mess It Up is the best song on hackney diamonds in my opinion. ItsSo much fun and great hearing Charlie one last time. Loved hearing about the 2019 tour again, it was really something special I think a video essay needs to be made on the Grrr gorrila - I still dont get it…
I can't imagine listening to Midnight Rambler and being from Boston. Unreal! I should do a video ranking the recent tours too. Haha, maybe I will do something on that darn gorilla. What a total mistake that was haha!
Always love your talks & this one with Bella is great... nice to know so many songs, albums, decades of music mean so much to all of us super fans... 55 + years of fandom & stoneslove for me woohoo!!
There is so many dark horses and underrated songs with the Rolling Stones, like Sway, Torn and frayed, 100 years ago, Coming down again, Fingerprint file, Hand of fate, Worried about you, Tops, Too tough, Fight...
Great chat really enjoyed as an Aussie Stones fan great to hear from Bella. Always nice to hear how ‘new’ fans discovered the Stones. I was a teenager in a small country town in the 80’s when I bought the Rewind compilation on cassette tape out of curiosity, then Rolled Gold and all the albums. I became completely hooked and obsessed. My friends all listened to the popular 80’s artists at the time but they all paled in comparison to the Stones, I felt I was the only teenager alive that liked them but the internet makes it a small world now and it’s great to hear new fans all these years later discover the Stones
Very good video as always. Enjoyed her perspective of the stones. Always good to hear other people‘s views on songs or albums. Unfortunately I am not on Instagram. Well done.
I love Fingerprint File so much that I bought a Japanese pressing of IORR in their 100% Pure LP series (UIJY-90002, 2012), which includes FF at its original speed. I think this is the only vinyl pressing that includes it?
For me the lyrics of too much blood are too much for me. 😂🤣 The Stones are so diverse there's material everyone can relate to. My favorites are Dandelions and Waiting for a friend.

Bella is right - the late 60’s through the Mick Taylor years are far and away the band’s best. Good stuff follows for sure, but the Beggars Banquet through Exile magic is what will remain relevant forever.
Yeah. Stones being able to move with the times was so important for their longevity, but also not just because it was calculated as much as their malleable love for some many genres. Even as much as Keith used to complain about Jagger and disco, there he is coming up with groovy funk stuff like Hot Stuff and Big Enough, and grooving right along with Ronnie on tracks such as Dance and Everything is Turning to Gold, not to mention his excellent work on one of my fave under dogs - Tie you Up.
I've never heard of The Rolling Stones fan page before but then I don't do social media. Now of course you know I love Undercover so I think this lady has excellent taste 😁. Very fun discussion. Also, gotta agree with her about Fingerprint File. That song is incredible and Jigsaw Puzzle is a very overlooked song that deserves more attention.
Also you mentioned how some Stones songs are cinematic, I agree with you about that. One that I find cinematic is Gunface. It's like a 1980s Charles Bronson film.
I actually did not know this about the line in SFTD being removed? I truly wonder if Mick does not sing the line about The Kennedy's these days simply because it may seem sort of outdated .. especially by now ... or perhaps he is trying to be softer with some things due to the era we are in? Any idea and do tell Mr. Billen .. what is the line he uses now in place of it?
Yeah Ian been a while now since he's skipped it. He removes the entire 2 stanzas right after that second chorus bringing Keith's solo up to take its place. The last time he sang that section was 1999 and then BAM completely gone in 2002. As for the reason? Who knows. Same reason he probably still "keeps" the line in Some Girls but with some..er..."changes." 😎
@@HangFireStonesPodcast Yezzz Gotcha. Thank you for the update/info. Billen is def familiar with the change in Some Girls as I listened for it in 99 on No Security Tour live and was different now. But one more thing and most importantly .. Why the hell wasn't I notified of all this? Nobody in the band or their management asked me if they could change anything... .. ... 😆
After your Undercover video, chatted with a fellow lifetime fan, and we voted ER and TY as the weakest efforts. Both of us enjoy DW. And, to answer your earlier question, we both favor VL over HD.
Jigsaw puzzle has always been my favorite under the radar songs ever
Classic
Too Much Blood is the second best song on Undercover. I personally think it was too dark for the Pop 80’s….but it’s still awesome.
I love "Feel on baby" , Stones reggae !
🔥🔥
I have always found that an interesting song.

Midnight Rambler is like a miniature blues opera.
