John, you've done it again. I never thought that I would live long enough to see, to perceive a real image of a Wigner crystal in the classical world. Great interview where by skillful questions you got your guest to elucidate the science in a way I understood. Also, I think a shout out to Ross is in order as the graphics were outstanding.
This may be one of the most fascinating subjects you've covered- to me, at least! Something I had no idea was even theorized. I also think Prof. Yazdani did a great job of explaining the phenomenon in a way I could visualize it and sort of grasp the concept easily. Also, why you need a perfect lattice of graphene to achieve something like this. I sort of thought of Earnshaw's theorem. Trying to stabilize point charges through... I guess just perfect geometry? I know it's not a great analogy, but just what my imagination went to first. Super cool research! I hope we get to hear more about their work in the future.

My understanding maybe im wrong, the electrons are not exactly frozen but trapped in the field and due to the single layer are actually "buzzing" moving only so far as the nearest electrons allow hence the lattice/crystal view. With the new advancements in Atomic Clocks that makes them very much more "powerful" it must be a great way to measure this "Quantum Fog", and hopefully be able to measure the time involved in the changes of these elusive and very small systems/scales. We can also hope that AI are put to adequate use in helping us to measure, calculate and understand how the Quantum world actually bridges over to the "Normal" world and why this boundary exists in the first place and what this "Boundary" is even Held up by(if you like) and how entangled particles even "communicates". But i personally have a hunch that these systems are connected in higher dimensions, and as we Humans live and experience only the lower dimensions we can't detect it with instruments made from matter as we know it as it is way to dense.I suspect that quantum phenomena are connected to higher dimensions through this quantum foam where everything is in direct contact albeit not physical in that sense, but this is very hard to imagine and/or measure i guess. Completely out of truth. With out the exact knoledge of what is an electron, what is electric charge, and what is magnetism. Hawking's radiation is a stupid concept. There is no negative energy.
