Great choices! Lucy Caldwell's stories and Carys Bray's new novel came close to making my list of this year's best reads so far. Caldwell's story 'Inextinguishable' is so heartbreaking! July's stories are great and I loved her novel that came out last year as well. I read The Woman Warrior many years ago and loved it. I need to get to Girls Will Be Girls.
Other recent short story books I'd really recommend (also by Irish writes like Caldwell) are Dinosaurs on Other Planets by Danielle McLaughlin and A Slanting of the Sun by Donal Ryan.

Sweet home is so good! Need to add the other two to my collection- especially Multitudes! It's sounds a little bit like How to Breathe Underwater! Great video 💕

I read No one belongs here more than you for university. I got the same things from it - that sense of being a bit of a 'freak' on the outskirts and trying to make connections, but not really managing it and it being unhealthy. A lot of the stories shocked me but the way she writes it, it is like you just accept it but you're still disturbed :') I'm not sure that made sense.
The Woman Warriror sounds so interesting. It sounds like something I'll really enjoy!

I knew that Girls will be girls would be here! I read it last year and I loved it, it has become one of my favourite books ever and the author is lovely. I need to read No one belongs here more than you, since I'm trying to read more short stories collections.

Its so nice to see a BookTuber reading some Miranda July! If you haven't already you should check out her novel "The First Bad Man" its weird and quirky and uncomfortably relatable - one of my favourites :-)

Multitudes sounds bloody brilliant. I have The Woman Warrior and feel so excited for it AND I have Girls Will be Girls out from the library and I feel super PUMPED for it, that feminist orchestra is just recommendation perfection! I read Sweet Home this year and enjoyed it, I'm looking forward to reading some more Carys Bray. Great video as ever Lauren! Xx

I can't wait for EVERYONE to read Girls Will Be Girls! :D Yeah it's strange because generally I think we have quite similar tastes! I guess short story collections are quite a different format so maybe that's where our opinions divide? xx

If you like short stories, has anyone suggested Alice Munro? She is the best! A bit of an intro (today's her birthday) www.cbc.ca/books/2016/07/fascinating-alice-munro-facts.html

I've been trying to read more feminist authors. I'm almost finished reading Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel, and while it isn't exactly a feminist text I thought I'd pick it up anyways since I just ordered her second book, Bitch- In Praise Of Difficult Women. Me being a guy, I've always looked up to strong women in fiction and I'm just finding out how enjoyable it is to read about real feminists.
