Vinod kambli saved two important matches in group stage. vs WI and vs Zimbabwe and played key role in quarter final vs pak otherwise we couldn't reached in semis. If we lost against Zimbabwe then it was very hard way for india. In semifinal after sachin wicket there was only Vinod who stood there like a tiger on very hard pitch. All batsman gave there wickes in bonus but only vinod who was fighting. But Kolkata public did wrong thing and match gifted to Lanka. Poor vinod kambli couldn't hide his emotions😥.
Not sure how but there was no school on this day. My memories of the game. 1st we bought our first cordless phone this day 2nd the second half of the match there was a power cut 3rd heard commentary on AIR, when azzu got out the commentator on radio said sachin is out and prolly after 30 seconds said sorry it Azzar. 4th as there was no power we went for dinner out and heard the victory.
This game happened on a Sunday if my memory serves me right.... We too had a power cut as Azhar scored his first flick and couldn't watch the rest of the match live.... After the power came back, cable was yet to be restored since our cable wala had power issues at his place....Remember watching a very grainy footage of Prabhakars dismissal.... What a childhood that was.....
This tendulkar was the best batsman ever as far as technique and compactness is concerned but he lacked mental steal of steve waugh and lara in big match situation.

@@umangu because the stadium is now used just for hockey matches, it lacks in modern facilities like bucket seat etc. Plus all the matches of MP has moved to Indore which has better and modern stadium. I am fine with it the craze for cricket in Indore is 2nd to none, the people ques up for ticket before 20 hours of opening of ticket counter and they have filled the stadium for ind v nz test 2016 for whole match, which is rare.
