Thanks for the diagnostic tip. I used the screw driver test and it showed the flow switch failed. I replaced it with a Hayward replacement flow switch and it's working now. The video saved me a lot of time and avoided a costly service visit!
Absolutely amazing video! Thank you for the troubleshooting tips. I had the exact same problem with a new Hayword T-9 that just installed. I used the screw driver to trick the board with the screw driver and got the blinking no flow light. That let me know that the head unit was working just as you stated. The most important tip for me was when you said make sure the flow arrows were in the right direction. Mine was not. I adjusted the direction of the flow arrows and it worked like a charm. Thanks so much.
Wow. You saved my life. Worked perfectly and discovered it was the flow switch. I just took an old telephone cable and cut the end to reveal the wires and connected the wires together so that it completed the circuit and then plugged the other telephone jack into the unit and it tricked the card into thinking there was flow. Perfect!
Thanks for the really helpful video. I followed your steps to diagnose the problem, replaced the flow switch, and now it’s working and generating chlorine again. You saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you!
Perfect video. I didn't know about the flow switch after having this system for 15 years. I found the screwdriver test made the board work. My cord had actually been cut so I've ordered a new part. Thanks so much for your time!
Great tip! I was able to verify the switch was bad using this technique. We had just replaced the main board which legitimately failed, and then the flow switch decided to die a few weeks later, and this tip helped us verify that.
Thanks! You have saved me a lot of time and money by this tip. I thought that my AquaRite board had died, but it was simply the flow sensor. Again, many thanks!
Your welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting on this video. Hope your a subscriber and please share this out to your friends do this video can help others.
Thank you Brother from Toronto Canada! You saved me $200. As you acknowledged… jumped the gun.. A little long if you want to gain followers but you led the way to figuring it out.. thank you!! :)
Thank you so much for this video! Newbie here! I tried the flat screwdriver test and it blinked. I disconnected the whole connector and reinstalled. The new pool guy had screwed it into the salt cell unit in the wrong direction. Working perfectly now!!!
Dude! You saved me a ton of grief and have my pool generating chlorine now. Took an old phone wire, cut in half, split the wires, stripped to copper, twisted together and plugged into AquaRite. Now there's flow 🙂. Now I can relax waiting for replacement flow switch. Just have to remember to turn off generator when pump is off.
This video was excellent and helped me so much. I was able to get an after market flow switch that I bought from Amazon to work by adjusting it 1/4 turn until the NO FLOW light started to blink. Your video gave me excellent information!
AWESOME! I was thrilled to use your screwdriver trick to see if it was indeed the flow sensor. We had replaced our generator board a few years back so I was pretty sure and crossing my fingers that it wasn't that but just as you said.... it BLINKED! Bought the new sensor (only $30 at our local pool store) and tested it the way you backtracked to show us... yep! WORKED! Installed it in minutes and we are working again! THANKS!!!
I did the test like you showed and the No Flow light did flash. Lead wire is still good, so definitely the sensor (only about 3 yrs old). Now I just have to find a replacement sensor. Thanks for the video and information.
Thank you for your excellent video tutorial, I was able to fix this by myself. I actually had the new flow sensor from purchasing the replacement cell 3 years ago, so I was able to fix right away. Thank You!!!!
Great video and instructions. I successfully replaced my flow switch and all is good with my salt system - got the "generating" green light. Thanks so much for helping me save $$s.
Awesome video my man.... I owe you a beer. Job went perfect I changed the Flo switch and after a min the flashing light stopped. And it said generating. In green. Ty .
Thank you this helped alot, did the test with screwdriver so I knew the problem was the flow sensor, I removed it and there was hair wrapped around the tab keeping it closed, removed hair screwed it back and now works!!!
The flexible metal piece is the contact lever and makes an internal contact inside the round part which gets screwed in. Not worth the time because it most likely would make any difference.
Great Video and great advise . Thanks. You may want to clean the tip of the screwdriver of rust and paint. That’s probably why you had to wiggle a bit to make contact. Thanks again.
Your welcome. Glad my video solved your problem. Thanks for watching & commenting, Hope you are a subscriber and please share this video out so I can help others
You just saved me a bunch of 💸 cash! The screwdriver trick worked. Cut out the damaged part of my float switch and rewired it, and it started working again.
You hit the nail on the head! THANX BROTHA!! You saved me at least $200. Did the crew driver test-it was the Flow Valve. $23 part from Amazon-pool store want $100. Here is my question-do I EVER PUT THE BOX ON SUPER CHLORINATE? If so, when do I do it. My pool got cloudy because the flow flow was dead an I didn’t realize it.
Thanks a lot for this video ! quick question, I turned off the filtration and closed valves, but I still have a geyser when I unscrew the flow switch... how can I make sure the water will not evacuate strongly despite all the valves being closed and pump turned off ?
Your very welcome. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, much appreciated. Hope you are a subscriber and please share this out. The more shares the more our videos can help others like yourself.
Thank You That phone type jack test You showed worked I had an old phone jack and shorted ONLY the center wires (Red & Green) to replace the screwdriver test (and did not short the Black & Yellow) It is generating now but the Inspect Cell light is Yellow I just replaced the cell back in June I am going to look at more RUclips videos and see what the INSPECT CELL light is connected too Ken in Florida
Typically when they inspect cell light is on and flashing this is an indication for the pool owner or the pool service provider to inspect a cell in case it needs to be cleaned. If the sale is clean then simply hold the diagnostic button for five seconds and this will Reset the internal clock for the next time the cell should be inspected
Yep, that's the trick. Interesting in my case is that my setup is vertical at the RJ which should not require a flow switch. Ran this system for 4 years without issue then had to replace the AquaTrol and ran into this. Now, just stuck a screw head in there and all good.
Well this is great video. With screw driver I was able to verify unit was good and it was flow switch. But just sprayed some contact cleaner on connector terminals and inserted a few times and flow switch works again without replacing. So this does not account for dirty connector contact interface. But still was huge time saver for me since was not sure whether unit or flow switch was causing the problem
Worked! Got a $20 replacement. I had thought I needed a new cell since I think I submerged the whole cell I'm acid solution to clean and it stopped working. I think the residual acid that was in the cell must've hit the sensor and messed it up
Thanks for the diagnostic tip. I used the screw driver test and it showed the flow switch failed. I replaced it with a Hayward replacement flow switch and it's working now. The video saved me a lot of time and avoided a costly service visit!
I thank my Lord all the time for having those great people in this world to help others save money

Great video! This solved my problem and prevented me from spending money that I didn’t need to spend. Your explanation was clear and simple! Thanks!
Solid! Was able to diagnose what I actually need without spending loads of money. Thank you so much for posting this video. Very detailed!
This helped me a lot. I was so happy to see that little red LED start blinking when I did the screwdriver test. Thank you!
Thanks for the really helpful video. I followed your steps to diagnose the problem, replaced the flow switch, and now it’s working and generating chlorine again. You saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you!
Great video. Thanks. I thought I was going to have to call in a pro, but it was a very easy fix thanks to this video.
Saved me a bundle! My flow wire was accidentally clipped by my whipper snipper! Repaired and back in biz! Thank you!!
Perfect video. I didn't know about the flow switch after having this system for 15 years. I found the screwdriver test made the board work. My cord had actually been cut so I've ordered a new part. Thanks so much for your time!

That’s cool.

Your welcome.
Thank you. I found a off-brand with the same model number on Amazon for less than $30 and it worked great.
Awesome! I am not a tech in any way shape or form...but I was able to watch this, diagnose, and fix the problem. So simple. Thanks!

The tips you told me how to deermine if the board is wrong or the switch is wrong are really helpful.
Great to hear
Thank you! You just saved me a service call!

Great video! One of the best self-help videos I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much!
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you!!! After seeing this I checked out the flow switch wire and something had cut thru it! All spliced and now it's generating again, woohoo!!
Keep wires zip ties to conduit/ plumbing etc. And off ground and buried.
Great video and thank you for putting this info out on the web!!!
How to test your cell
AWESOME! I was thrilled to use your screwdriver trick to see if it was indeed the flow sensor. Perfect spot on tip for No Flow!

I did the test like you showed and the No Flow light did flash. Lead wire is still good, so definitely the sensor (only about 3 yrs old). Now I just have to find a replacement sensor. Thanks for the video and information.

pro tip: watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Ellis Cameron yea, I have been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself :)
THANK YOU!!!! You saved me a ton of money. Great job!

Excellent video. Everything worked perfectly. Thanks very much for your expertise.
Thank you this helped alot, did the test with screwdriver so I knew the problem was the flow sensor, I removed it and there was hair wrapped around the tab keeping it closed, removed hair screwed it back and now works!!!
Thanks for the video. I had a pack of RJ11s so I just took one and made a loopback plug to test the flow sensor contacts.
Thank you for this useful video!

Thanks a lot for this - definitely helped me narrow down the cause of my no flow light (Flow switch). Everything back working now
Glad it helped!
Good advice! I did that, and I found the same results you got. Thanks Man!
Works every time. Your welcome.
Is it worth a try to clean the contacts where the plug connects?
The flexible metal piece is the contact lever and makes an internal contact inside the round part which gets screwed in. Not worth the time because it most likely would make any difference.
Thank you for this video! I was able to quickly diagnose the problem and fix it without having to call a pool company to come out!
Excellent! Your welcome
Thank you for that tip! Flow switch on order!
That’s great to hear. get your system back up and running again. Hope your a subscriber?
Thank you for the excellent information and saving money.. I ordered a new flow switch.. 👍🙏🇺🇸
Great Video and great advise . Thanks. You may want to clean the tip of the screwdriver of rust and paint. That’s probably why you had to wiggle a bit to make contact. Thanks again.
Lol. It’s not the rust or paint. It simply because I wasn’t firmly and evenly pressing all the pins on the internal connector port.
Excellent video! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
Good video, followed your advise and solved my problem. It was the flow switch. Thanks

Outstanding, thanks for the info.
Great money saving tip!
You saved me from opening up the control panel to the circuit board.
Great instruction!!
You can utilize the Super Chlorinate after a heavy pool usage situation.
I’m back to no flow
Had this happen yesterday, turned the pump off and on and it cleared it. Now I’m thinking my switch may be going bad. Thanks!
awesome work my man. exactly what i needed. you da man!!!!!

great video.nice tip
Finally a video that I learned something.
Awesome to know. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thank You
That phone type jack test You showed worked
I had an old phone jack and shorted ONLY the center wires (Red & Green) to replace the screwdriver test (and did not short the Black & Yellow)
It is generating now but the Inspect Cell light is Yellow
I just replaced the cell back in June
I am going to look at more RUclips videos and see what the INSPECT CELL light is connected too
Ken in Florida

Was I the only one fixated on that mosquito? It was on his face, hands etc. Those things give me welts. 😂
Great - thanks for the help.
Your welcome
It turns out the gardener dislodged the data cable and it wasn't properly seated. Didn't even have to use the screwdriver. Works fine, thanks!
Either way, thank you so much for the video. My cell is clear and now I know the board is still functioning. Time for a new switch
Glad it helped
Yep, that's the trick. Interesting in my case is that my setup is vertical at the RJ which should not require a flow switch. Ran this system for 4 years without issue then had to replace the AquaTrol and ran into this. Now, just stuck a screw head in there and all good.
