I read the book her daughter wrote and found it disgusting. I wasn't disgusted by Bette, I was disgusted by the daughter. Bette worked for everything she got and had the courage of a lion. She didn't compromise and she had the skill to back it up. BD was a whiney little snob who somehow was under the impression that she was high class, and that her mother was crass and embarrassing. It was such a blatant attempt to gain fame and money, which I'm sure she believed Christina Crawford had done with "Mommy Dearest". I don't think it's remotely similar
