i really hope you update this library with more pick options and less faked sound compared to mick gordon. great start though but you should definitely enhance it like SHREDDAGE which also gets updated
I've just purchased this from T&S and now I'm confused. I'm getting a sh*t tonne of machine gunning when using the velocity setting am I missing something? The velocities are all different and yet, it sounds like I'm ready to join Rambo in a war. Plus, the samples don't sound nearly as aggressive as here.
I thoroughly enjoyed creating the music soundtrack for this car chase scene as part of the Westworld Scoring Competition, heavily using Wavelet Audio's guitar virtual instrument plugin, especially during the last half of the scene - ruclips.net/video/ypXn9EihGqk/видео.html
I wish some of the buttons were bigger (the Strum direction icons are so tiny). Plus, UI has a lot of contrasting focal points in places where there doesn't need to be any - it's kind of distracting and makes the tiny buttons feel tinier...
@@waveletaudio I apologize for my incompetence. I don't know how to use bulldozer to create the thick and clean tone at 8:15 in the video. The tone I get is more like the one at 4:37 in the video. Even if I use the screamer and turn the gain all the way up, I only get some dirty and chaotic sounds. I hope you could tell me what the key is, is it the sound overlay or something else? It would be greater if you could record a simple video. It's very frustrating that purchased cabal8 but failed to get the tone shown in the video.
Just got this. One problem: when I load up the Hi-Gain instrument, there's no way to get it to play 'Poly', it's all single notes, so it won't play power chords or anything. How do I make it poly ?
@IDEK It's been a long while since I last used Cabal 8, so I don't remember exactly. I think it was something with the multi-guitar or multi-mic options that lead to phasing issues in my case. The phasing issues can be corrected though, so I wouldn't avoid Cabal 8 for this reason. You'll want to be looking out for phasing-issues in any and all projects anyways, so knowing what to look for and finding any variety of phase detection and manipulation/correction tools to help you out should keep you on top of that particular issue (I'm a fan of iZotope and Soundspot tools, personally). That compounds with the tedium of everything else though. Forgive the verbosity and ignore the rest if you only care about the phase concerns. What got on my nerves more than the phasing issues was the interface. It's annoying to navigate the largely unused space for the tiny buttons spread about and the tiny text is sometimes blurry and you squint while reading it. And there are distractions in weird places - like the EQ screen has this giant, white light-bar image along the top that serves no purpose other than to draw your attention and compete with everything else for your focus. Between all that and the complexity of actually playing it convincingly, it felt so tedious and dysfunctional to me and that's probably the biggest reason I've been avoiding Cabal in my projects, I think. I would not completely disregard Cabal, but it's probably going to be very subjective how valuable it is per person and per project. Maybe the interface won't feel as tedious for someone else to work with. Maybe I'd feel more positively towards it if I'd used it longer and developed a comfortable familiarity with it. Maybe the phasing issue was from some dumb mistake I made and overlooked amidst my frustration with the interface because of how un-intuitive it seemed or how invisible some of the buttons can feel. Generally speaking, it's probably not *the* best (surely more expensive options I'm less familiar with might out-perform this) but it doesn't seem completely terrible in sound-performance. The sample quality is decent and it has a nice variety of articulation. If you take advantage of the velocity-variations and key-switches you're likely to get a fairly convincing organic-sound from it, I think (particularly if you play with a midi keyboard and use the keyswitches a lot). However I was disappointed that I couldn't get a *good* pick-scrape or pick-rake from this. I think the pitchwheel left something to be desired too when imitating bends or slides, now that I think about it. For a soloist or lead virtual-guitar designed for rock/metal/djent this is probably still one of the better options I have right now thanks to the variety of features that are included, but for rhythm guitars I've been much happier with the conveniences of Ujam's virtual-guitar plugins and might recommend those before Cabal if you're not already familiar with them (especially Carbon if you're here for djent riffs and gallops). Ujam's plugins also have a 30 day demo you can try before buying, while Cabal 8 does not... And if you're just looking for a distorted guitar, maybe grab a good distortion filter instead (I like the iZotope Trash filter) and put that on any ol' virtual-guitar or intricate pluck synth you might find (Ample-Sound has a decent, free-version guitar, for instance). ---- If the price of Cabal 8 has you wary, maybe watch for it to go on discount at audioplugin.deals or vstbuzz or pluginboutique. That's how I discovered Cabal 8 to begin with (front page on a deal site). I think I would be far more disappointed with Cabal 8 if I had payed the full $139 USD for it.
@@snesmocha I've not used Shreddage yet, but my impressions are that Shreddage is probably true to the name and better at shredding, lol. Also the Interface for Shreddage 3 guitars looks more sensible to navigate compared to Wavelet's. I think I've also seen some comments elsewhere favoring Shreddage over Cabal for one reason or another too, so you might already have the better option in that case.

Hmm, I'm still hearing the issue here with the pick sound. It reminds me of the sound I get in other guitar libraries when I turn the sample start offset all the way up (to like 30-50 ms), it sounds like there's no actual pick attack left in the sound. Turning down any such offset is usually the first thing I do in any guitar library. Would've been nice to hear how the sound actually changes when you adjust the pick volume knob at 11:30
yes i think so too! But very interesting features! that portamento slide thing is realy cool and some other stuff too! I still think it is aimed for a special clientele and is not the "ultimate guitar solution" ;) maybe i get it when there is a sale...

You should use the leftmost green keyswitch to activate the Poly mode
I hope you implement muli-channel function. The most accurate way to program guitar is to have one midi channel per string.
I cant get mine to slide even close to that, with slide all the way on 12. How do iI get that action?

You need to run it like an Amp simulator like guitar rig, Lepou's plugins, audio assault amps, etc. The library is clean DI by default.
Wish there weren't so many phasing issues with this though :(
