I like it cause I don’t play drums and it’s nice to make songs or demos. But, I would never use it for a studio made album and I’d be pissed if an engineer replaced kit pieces with digital stuff. In addition I’d be mad if I recorded and album just to be replaced by a midi guitar 😭😭😭
doesnt sound good enough to be used in an actual track but can definitely see it being useful for creating demo's of songs or writing stuff when you're away from your guitar
You have probably heard virtual guitars already you just didn't know it 😉 the world of music is quite complex but I promise you the average listener will not know what you and I do.
and tbh, this is personally one of the worst vst guitars out there, i suggest going a lead with h7s and a rhythm with s3h, trust me, this stuff is nothing comapred to the high quality stuff
the stuff he showed at first were pretty shite but the demo was impressive as hell, are you talking about the demo or the stuff he showed at the start?
Writing, demos, fixing little mistakes such as out of tune tones, playing in lower tuning than your real guitar can go without sounding farty etc. It has its uses.
I would love to see you revisit this with the Shredage 3 Hydra from Impact soundworks. I feel like it's the most realistic sounding guitar midi for metal out there.
Could be handy if away from guitar, or when programming demos. I mean, you can still hear that it's not completely natural, but I love how much this kind of tech has advanced in the past years.
As a songwriter for video games and film, and one who's on a budget of money, time and space, this is a great VST to use. Also, what is the drums being used? They sound nice.
You have an absolutely amazing writing ability. Even though this is all programmed, musically this is one of my favorite songs. I would love see this song done with real instruments and uploaded to streaming services. You have a gift man.
It's doesn't sound real because Nik did not change attack at each note. When we play guitar or any other instrument, we add more attack at first note in riff. And even super mega pro guitarist can't play right into bit. So, if we simulate this 2 things, midi instruments will sound just like real. I do it even with electronic instruments sometimes. It brings some more realistic to track
Sorry for the obvious comment. JUST BUY ONE. Not gonna, lie it is an intersting instrument outside of djent (and escpecialy good for 000-00-1-000-10-1000). I think many people from the audience would support you with that, becuase why not try something new ?
Honestly, the response is just as obvious. 1. Not everyone that can write guitar parts can actually play guitar. 2. $200 USD for a VST is a lot cheaper than $400+ (if you're really lowballing it) for a new guitar. Nevermind buying either an amp modeler or the equipment to record a live amp (or I guess a cheap interface and some virtual tones online, but still). I own two 6-strings and an 8-string, but I get the idea behind it, especially since I myself can write drum, orchestral, and choral parts, but need VSTs to actually do any of them. Getting together an entire orchestra, choir, or even a drummer, and then finding studio space and ample recording equipment just once, let alone every time I come up with something, is literally not possible when you're not getting funding from a company.
Honestly I feel like the only reason y’all are saying it sounds fake is because you KNOW it’s fake and are desperately trying to convince yourselves you still matter lmao. This is sick as fuck
I think if you use an older version of kontakt you can still run it without the demo thing :) for example kontakt 5 usually works just fine for me when it comes to plugins that say they require full version of kontakt, Thanks for the overview btw :)
Cool vid. Just got it. One problem: when I load up the Hi-Gain instrument, there's no way to get it to play 'Poly', it's all single notes, so it won't play power chords or anything. How do I make it poly ?
All this programmed stuff is only good for writing when you can't play certain instrument. But putting such stuff on actual release should be banned by law and I hope noone does it. This one sounds really funny in the higher register, Guitar Pro like. Same with bass plugins like Loki. At the end of the day. nothing beats the real performance.
Thanks, I hate it. 😂 I feel like between this and Odin, I've just been thoroughly replaced. Joking aside, the low end with toneforge sounds insane, the lead, meh... The only detractor for me is the pentagram. Honestly, not all of us are into the KVLT lol, see.of us are good Christian boyos and girls. Lol
Because it sounds more real and is more fun. Also keep in mind cabal wasn’t providing the tone for this, just the DI, so don’t worry you can still get a really good sound out of your 8 string if you use the same amp simulator nik used
hi nik how are you? i want to ask how to mix vst guitar plugin to make it wide and clean i tried some virtual rhythm guitar L R but i think it doesn't sound wide enough like shreddage /cabal 8 & Ample sound
whenever it plays something other than 0 and 1 it sounds super fake...especially when it plays 11s and 12s on the bottom 8th string that sounded fake AF...that can be cool for something that wants to write something without learning how to play it first just to see if its cool but other than that i dont like it
How do you actually get it to have the amp distorted sound? Tone forge? How do you connect the instrument to the amp? I've tried figuring it out, but I'm stuck
You can appreciate a real guitar but putting down VSTs is just childish and completely missing the point of the software which is an artistic outlet for many folks who either don't have the means to get an 8 string or are simply more familiar with DAWs.
It's not too shabby but These type of programs are excellent for hashing out ideas and brainstorming before translating onto a real guitar ie learn what youve written. It obviously animates the song writing to give you a better idea where its going. It's a good pre-production tool and writing a demo as heard, but that should not be used as end result imo
I can see this being a really good writing tool but I don't know how I'd feel if this was just used instead of learning how to actually play stuff. Hopefully that doesn't become a thing like it did with programmed drums, except for like writing.
That modes and scale video was awesome... Can you extend the video and name the modes.. Like you started from minor scale which is the sixth mode aeolian. Then according to chart you hve given which position will be the 1st mode i. e ionian( major scale). If its position 3 than its not maching the major scale intervals between the notes.. If iam wrong please enlighten me. Thanks.
I think this certainly has some uses, but it doesn't really sound real I think. Okay for demos and writing stuff if you don't have your guitar available, but that's it for me.
I dig plug ins like this for things like that freaky palm muted harmonics thing that aren't really something you'd play on a real guitar. Basically truly using it as a synthesizer that happens to sound tonally like a guitar. I'm just not sure it's to the point that it can 100% "fool" everyone that it is an actual person playing.
Sounds sick! I have more recently preferred Shreddage 3 and used it in my latest track, but might give this a shot! The trick is learning how to use the sustain pedal when playing in real-time to get more realistic transitions. Playing it in versus clicking it in adds a humanizing element.

It's mainly used as a writing tool, especially for bands out on the road or people who don't always have instant access to an interface to record.
it sounds mad fun even if u have a guitar. And yeah i guess just playing it is a little like blueprinting too
Definitely cool to be able to write anywhere you you can have a computer but not other equipment.
Not at all....you would have a perfectly intonated DI track at all times. If you don't see the value in that then 😐
Writing, demos, fixing little mistakes such as out of tune tones, playing in lower tuning than your real guitar can go without sounding farty etc. It has its uses.
