  • A sermon given by Fr Arseniye (monah Arsenije Jovanovic).
    Fr Arseniye is one of most well known orthodox monk/preacher in the Serbian orthodox church. He was deep into the punk and drug scene of NYC. He later rediscovered Orthodoxy as the only Truth and became a monk, living for a period of over 5 years as solitary desert dweller. Now he's abbot of a monastery Ribnica in Serbia.

    Father Arsenyie is one of the finest soldiers of our Lord Jesus Christ. His trip from child that is lost, in the world of Rock and Roll and drugs, to the monk is amazing. Only true God's force can help to make that transformation.

    Orthodox teaching always makes so much sense to me. Can anyone recommend a church in London where they teach like this. Thank you. I’m not Orthodox by the way, I don’t go to church. I had a Catholic upbringing, well from school but not home but I never confirmed. I have lived a very sinful life but Christ is always calling me.

      I only visited with my friends the orthodox monastery "St. John the Baptist" close to London in Tolleshunt Knights, Essex, which is considered one of the most spiritual monasteries in Western Europe. It was founded 70 years ago by St. Sophrony of Essex, who was a disciple of St. Silouan of Mount Athos.
      You can even stay for 1-2 weeks for free (u can donate in a box at the end) in the monastery. It's common that orthoodox lay people stay for few days in a monastery, so you would meet people like you there too.
      If you are interested, I can give you the contact details...

    @jansci, brother, if you know the life of father arseni (as he told it all in a series of pod casts, parts 1-12) i guess you should ask "why do rock stars wanted to be monks"? instead of asking it upside down. Learn to know about him before you rushed your fingers towards the keyboard.

      I used to be Roman Catholic and yes they do believe that Mary (the Theotokos) was immaculately conceived. The only immaculate conception was our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So basically they are comparing her to God. I found Orthodoxy 11 years ago and I’m finally home! ☦️🙏🏻☦️

    • @morphosis7655
      @morphosis7655 Год назад

      I don’t think it’s officially taught but people within the church treat her like that. They are many Catholics who seem to make it all about Mary and pray to her like God. Personally I find it confusing.
