  • I build a desk with hidden wireless charging. I used woodworking and metalworking on this project with a walnut top and a tube steel welded base. This modern industrial computer desk has a nice simple desk feel but with tons of character including a copper metal bowtie inlay. #wirelesscharging

      I don't think you understand convenience, The reason wireless charging is so popular for phones is because it's convenient to just set your phone somewhere and it'll start charging without needing to be plugged in, Even if plugging it in is quicker and more efficient, Most people will usually pick the more convenient route.

      With the thickness of the wood, plus the case, plus the Velcro, the charger may be too far away from the phone at that point. A detachable cover plate with a foam pressure pad (to press the charger against the wood) might be a better option.

      @clellbritt3434 5 лет назад

      That is the title of the video after all, if you already have a wooden desk there's nothing stopping you from routing out a spot for a wireless charger as long as it isn't too thin.

    • @somedude2492
      @somedude2492 4 года назад +8

      Well with a saw, sandpaper, something as a sanding block, and a hand plane plus the wood and a desk base (they are sold as a kind of kit that bolts together) you can make this. That's about 100 in tools that will last you basically longer than you will, about 150 in wood, and maybe 50 for the table base. The wood is way cheaper when sold rough. If you want the insert, you'll need a chisel and some metal to make the insert itself.

  • @pratap3369
    @pratap3369 6 лет назад +5

    you should have drilled a small hole under the inlay from behind to bleed out the excess epoxy,so that it would fit flush to the surface and eliminate the excess sanding.Just a small thought

  • @Bloodbound89
    @Bloodbound89 6 лет назад +7

    small tip if you first only tag the inner edges you can still correct the angles than tag the outsides to so you dont really have to clamp it down as hard or if something is to big it will come in hamdy some day.. you can also use a piece of copper and clamp it in with the part you are welding because it wont stick on copper ;)

    Your welds are fine for your project and over time you will improve on the beads themselves. Just be sure that when you weld your tacking first and then checking for square and not just laying down a bead.
