Actually both the guitarist Jasin Smith and the bass player were excused from the band. I can't say I know them, but had the opportunity and pleasure to be introduced to and have a few beers with them in '06 via a friend in the business in Milwaukee, WI. I got to hang out with Brent and Barry. Both are very sincere guys. I was a bit star struck by Brent. Barry recognized and remembered me at Summerfest in '09.
God, I love this band. I find the lyrics uplifting and spiritual without being overtly religious. Brent has one of the most powerful and melodic voices in rock today. I was lucky enough to see Shinedown live a couple of times when I lived in Tampa. If you have an opportunity to see them, run, don't walk.

I am married to an opera singer and she is amazed at how he can sing at all. she says he is a freak, his voice should be trashed all the time but it isnt, she says thats not natural! As for his vocals, he isnt human. Take it from some one who has seen first hand what pros go through!!
