Thanks so much to Colum for bringing me around North Carlow and West Wicklow and showing us some of the 1798 history in the area.
The Bed Of Heaven to Fr Murphy and all those who fought and died in the 1798 rebellion
This was excruciatingly painful to watch. Father Murphy martyred.. and other brave men died.,🖤😭
Was grateful to see the memorials erected and now beautiful the area where they stand..
Although this incredible video was sad and made us cry., its educational value is commendable..
As always we thank you immensely for bringing us along on these poignant tours..
Your video are done is such a way., that we feel we are walking there beside you.. stunning and unforgettable this was💜💙☘️
Peace. My condolenes for the losses, for so many centuries, of your fellow countrymen in defense of Celtic freedom and liberty. For hardships forced upon Irish families as they were oppressed and suppressed by those Un-Law-Fully demanding tribute. May each be richly rewarded for their deeds according to His Law, His Will. Peace.
Well done colum o Ruairc and David holden
Thank you Thomas
Love colums work man is a living Hero
Would love to see him do a recount of the steps of the pikemens last stand at ballyboughal County Dublin.
Shout out to yourself to Davy great work keep it up .
My ancestor arrived in Tasmania in 1855.The second farm the family owned was named Vinegar Hill. They never forget!
The 1798 rebellion is the subject of a folk song, Dunlavin Green. It’s a beautiful song and lamentation.
I was in college with Colum, great to see him doing so well
Thank you for bringing history alive.
Thank you!
Thanks Davy you’re a great Irish man 🙏🇮🇪🙏🇮🇪
Davy.. love you're channel and content. But would you be interested in and hopefully meeting or maybe interviewing some of the latest and hopefully the last generations of Irish volunteers north and south and getting some of their stories on active service or some jail stories. 🙏✌🇮🇪
Thank you Brendan! If you have access, I'd love that. Can you drop me an email or a message on Instagram? Would love to chat about it.
Davy. Thank you. For keeping our history alive …as so many do not want to know. or care.
Thank you!
Unbelievable knowledge and such detail that you could listen to him for hours.A pivotal time in
Irelands history Davy. Go raibh maith agat 💚🇮🇪☘✊
I am glad I caught the premiere, it is a rebellion I know little about.
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@davyholden I heartily did.
Fantastic! Thank you Davy and Colum so much for bringing Irish history to life. Such a wonderful learning lesson for me. I hope these will turn into tours one day for visitors. So important.
My 4th great grandparents. Teddy and Mary Hart emigrated to America sometime shortly after the 1798 Rebellion. The first indication I have of these ancestors is when their son, Timothy Hart (who later, by the way. became one of the signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence at Goliad) was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1810.
I don't know when Teddy and Mary left Ireland and wonder if it was connected with the 1798 Rebellion.
Where were the harts from
Hart isn’t an Irish surname
I really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. Brave men. RIP.
As a young man of 20 I spent a while in Australia. One day out for a ramble I came across Waverly cemetery and stumbled upon Dwyers grave. It blew me away. Its a site to behold. And contains the "memory of the dead." "Who fears to speak of 'Ninety-eight'?
Who blushes at the name?
When cowards mock the patriot's fate
Who hangs his head for shame?
Amazing video and such knowledge. I remember visiting Wicklow and this region in 1998 from Australia and seeing various monuments for the 1798 Uprising. The memory of the memorials and the history have stayed with me all my life.
Great bit of research, much appreciated on behalf of The Breslin and Byrne's of Arklow
Davy Holden, I liked this video because it's awesome!
You do not seem like the history buff.
I loved hearing this history. My family were from hacketstown but I am in Australia

Johnny Foreigner thinks that the Irish don't know how to rebel.
The name Dwyer brings a bit more reality to my take on the historical narrative. Check out - Irish History Podcast - Hosted by Fin Dwyer. Mel
I love Fin's podcast. It's excellent!

As an English man I am fascinated by the early Irish fight for freedom. We will be over in Ireland next year and intend to visit a few of the places mentioned in your video. Thank you.
Lovely fair fair play Mr Holden aka Irishnboots on the ground Historian of our journey to freedom.
A question for you all do you feel free of the British occupation
This makes no sense. Feel how?
@@johnnotrealname8168 I guarantee you don't feel what the Irish citizens were feeling back then tormented by Tans and British forces etc in comparison we are free
Move on lads
Really interesting film. Thanks
