Yeah I think Stellar Blade had better feeling combat than Black myth. It just was more smooth and there were less frustrating animations. Stellar Blade is indeed my game of the year. It does so many things right and exceeds them compared to other contenders. And its inclusion of the photo mode has only solidified itself as game of the year. The game is made with both passion and effort. And something it does to supercede Wukong as an action game is that while to dodge in mid combo for wukong, you have to time your input. In stellar blade, you can actually use the animation of your own attacks to dodge an attack mid combo. That sort of detail is astonishing. And of course, having a particularly hot and attractive female protagonist is a definite plus.
This is still on my to buy game, I played the demo version and enjoyed it, although not my normal type of game. I will be looking to get it during the Black Friday sales. I have always got games because of what type of game it is and the gameplay etc, and that includes going back to the 90s when they were using Lara Croft looks to advertise a game
I was saying this on X recently as well. This game is technically well put especially on the ps5 Pro . Beyond the sex appeal the game is fun and a badass adventure.
There is a lot of haters for this game and i dont understand why either, most will just say its eve but forget about the music or the boss battles. The story is not like top notch but its still great.

I’ve never played, but got curious because of the stupid controversy half a year ago. I’ve mentioned the game to other friends, but they seem to know even less than I. Seems like they assume the game sucks. I wish people looked at things beyond what they only initially physically see or hear about it from others that did the same. Only reason why I haven’t played it is because it was not on PC and is a PS exclusive. I don’t have a PS5 and wouldn’t want to buy one for a few games that are exclusive. I recently heard it will be coming to PC soon though. Of what I’ve seen, the art and graphics are gorgeous and the music is absolutely incredible. I’ve heard the story is arguable on if it’s good. As long as it looks good, sounds good, and has fun gameplay then that is good enough for me.
Personally I have this game way better than Black Myth. I can't get with the combat system at all. The enemies are like sponges. Compared to Stellar Blade's combat which is much more fulfilling/impactful.
Stellar Blade is my goto game to sit back, relax and kick some ass after dying non stop in Elden Ring(I just started playing). It calms me down. It's just so fun ! I can't say the same for Wukong though which I actually also really love, but NG+4 is not relaxing anymore. It's starting to kick my arse so badly.... I died more times from the Black Bear than my first playthrough. And with SB's stellar soundtrack, ahhh, what a joy.

I just finally got this game and am loving it. I also had to grab the DLC as well. I still haven't finished this game but I already can't decide if I love Stellar Blade or Black Myth Wukong more for my GOTY (I got platinum trophy in Black Myth and intend to do the same for Stellar Blade).
Funny thing is unless the player chooses to put Eve in one of the more revealing costumes in the game Eve is never really sexualized by any other character, there’s no wild crazy camera shot of her butt or bust, but alot people have this idea of what the game is based on media spins but as far as sexually explicit content the games actually pretty tame. It’s just a solid stylish game with a dope soundtrack
I've got platinum in this and beat it 8 times now. It's a great game, but I feel the story, level design, level variety and the amount of times bosses are not able to be damaged in a fight to be the shortcomings. Hopefully a second game will address these.
This game is good. When you play it a second time you appreciate the story more, all the bread crumbing and casual manipulation Adam does. He literally set up the entire game as an obstacle course for her to prove her worthiness. Talk about a god complex. The tasty design choices that accentuate eves looks through game play are also, as a matter of fact, a tier. She will approach a ladder that is facing the other way, by design and mantle on to in a smooth athletic way for example. There are soooo many instances of this if you slow down and take it in. It also looks absolutely incredible on ps5 pro. It’s a must have.

People see attractive women and they get all scared and judgmental of the game. Close minded fools. To them it doesn’t matter if it’s a great game if it’s gooner bait to people it’s bad no matter what. The combat is actually phenomenal. There are so many ways to avoid damage and punish enemies. You can block, dodge, parry, blink with blue spark, repulse with purple spark. Then you can extend parries and perfect dodges into combo attack chains and cut off the enemy combo. You can use retribution to takedown an enemy with a depleted balance bar. There are actually multiple combo strings unlike Black Myth Wukong square spam. There are 2 sets of active skills. Grenades that can extend your stunlock combos. So much more. Even their other game Nikke is amazing. Story is unlike anything I've ever seen in games. Many people will cry to it. But people are scared of hot women and even the fact that it’s a gacha and have a very closed mind to not even consider trying it or looking into what it’s actually about. There is a valid argument about realism and immersion and making a consistent game world. But for me who cares, it's a videogame and you play a videogame with the expectation of it being a videogame that can have whacky and outlandish things in it. You don't need immersion and you don't need to pretend the world is real. Plenty of AAA games do this, so it’s nice to have a game that breaks out of that once in awhile.
I mean without Eve its still a great game (at least how it looked to me as I dun have console), but bcoz I know Shift Up as a studio developing cultured games like Destiny Child and Nikke my expectation on eye candy characters is already high. If its others studios then I wont qualm over it.

The game is awesome I love it 100% but the pervs narrative is counter productive to what real gamers are asking developers to change . People complain about a characters looks and try to cancel some games for such things but then turn around and play games like stardew valley or mine craft where the characters 0 visual assets . The toxicity in the gaming space has gotten out of hand especially because it is being perpetuated by grifter influencers like Vara Dark and many others that are bringing maga style politics into the gaming space and dragging it for content and views from people that aren't even buying many games in the first place and never where . Stellar Blade and Wukong are definitely in the top 10 of all times and I've been around since the actual beginning of gaming. The toxic part of the community are the most heard and the loudest part of the community and they are providing bad spokesmen to represent the gaming community like we all agree or something. I definitely love what you said and I totally agree. The sad thing is we are going to end up having to be very vocal about speaking against other gamers and influencers that are making the outcomes of our gaming experience nonconducive to us . Some things should be kept to yourself but since the introduction of social media a lot of people have thrown that life lesson out the window . We have been getting almost 70% of remakes of games because the toxic cancel culture has made a lot of development teams so fearful of being innovative that they are just playing it safe to keep their jobs and avoid the whining. This affects people that have been gaming for a very long time because we anticipate the new innovations we don't wanna play games we played years ago we stuck it out to see what new adventures await and are having those things interfered with for very stupid and nonsensical reasons from people that complain about spending $70-$90 yet think every game is supposed to be made for them then if it's not they want to gather hate groups to promote the tanking of the games sales . That is some over-privileged , intrusive,greedy, childish behavior. All of this needs to stop to correct the balance in gaming and make room for truly valid complaints and requests to be heard and addressed in gaming by developers. All the hate mongering is counter productive and contributes to the retaliatory responses that fell on games like stellar blade and wukong.

Unfortunately this game (and the eventual sequel) wont truly get its flowers until yrs from now. It's like people cant grasp that a game like this can have a super attractive female character AND be a good game. True fans appreciate this game beyond Eve. While the story telling & character development arent the best it makes up for it with the combat/music/visuals. The discourse created ruined the reputation of the game. 1) On one hand, you have the media that took offense to Eve’s looks and tried to lower that meta score/ vote against it. (Some not all.) 2) On the other hand, you have fans that all they do is excessively talk and post images about Eve’s sexual appeal instead of the actual game. This behavior deceived potential newcomers into thinking the game is a sex simulator rather than an action game. Sadly, there’s only few of us that actually know and praised the game for its performance, gameplay, music and overall polish.
Stellar blade has the potential to be up their with Final fantasy remake and rebirth all they have to do for stellar blade 2 is work on the character building and get it on the level of a final fantasy game and mass effect 2 and then they need to get world designers for horizon forbidden West and keep their puzzles and side quest maybe they can even do some side characters missions for lily. Maybe a tacy or raven side content
I honestly think the OST in this game is only matched by a couple of games I've played like Doom or MGRR. The combat is really satisfying, I loved how it starts like like soulsborne evolves towards a hybrid DMC. It's all about the anime-esque animations, Eve and the clinging sound of the parry. Unfortunately, the story doesn't take off till the last 3rd. I think GOTY needs a lot more than just the combat, but this game is an easy pick for action game award.
I hope the game wins Best Soundtrack. I was disappointed with the narrative and writing. I was disappointed with Eve as a character, who had little to no compelling personality or characterization, and falls short compared to 2B in Nier Automata, who had actually compelling, engaging character writing. I almost wish Tachy was the main protagonist of the game instead, and arguably has a far better character design, with a nice hornet motif. There would have been so much narrative potential if Tachy was the player character, and who shows far more personality in the first ten minutes of the game than Eve does in 40+ hrs. I say all this as a professional writer, who went to school for this stuff.
I do still love the game but yes I 100% agree eve doesn't have much of a personality she only really makes any decisions at the very end. However I also want to make the difference that eve is very young tachy raven and even lily are older than hrr and have had time to develop personalities eve was essentially created put through training and immediately sent in this mission so for most of the game she's simply following orders she doesn't really show much initiative until the very end. Hopefully this gets addressed in a sequel or expansion now that she has some life experience (same thing applies to 2b who's gone through multiple variations of the same story with 9s and has had time to mold her personality) not excusing the fact that eve is very bland just offering a reason as to why that might be
@jxavier0423 Eve only shows any emotion right at the start of the game, during the beach assault. After that it's just her British monotone demeanour for the majority of the game. She has little to no thoughts or opinions of her own about the world around her, and, more often than not, only says exposition and whatever else is necessary for the player to get to the next objective. I would have loved it if Eve commented every time you tied on the various unlockable outfits and gave her opinions on them, it would have brought out more personality and not just be a doll for the player to dress up. At this point, Eve may as well just be a blowup doll. Imagine if her backstory was rewritten so that Eve was originally a Love Doll robot from a brothel that was retrofitted and modified for warfare. Not only would it admittedly be funny, but it would make her design make more sense from a narrative perspective.
I really liked it, the boss battles are amazing! But honestly, it's hard to take the game seriously when she dresses like that when she's supposed to be a warrior 😂 people will hate me for saying it but I'd much prefer if she would wear some sort of armour or anything resembling a battle suit

Or more like Abby with more resemblance to a male body builder than a woman in her early twenties? Tell me which one is more realistic for the average woman? And also this is a video game where we are supposed to embrace the fantastical. What makes this kinda funny is that the people who hate on this game because DEI and whatnot think that winning an award means something. MONEY talks. If a game sells well, then the studio knows (or should know as some tend to drop the ball) to follow the formula again whether it's a sequel or something similar to what they made. I finished this game and out side of the combat and ost there isn't much there. The story and characters are bland. Yes, Eve is attractive, but that doesn't make the game. I've never seen anyone praise this games story or any type of praise to these characters and their motivations.

Then you can extend parries and perfect dodges into combo attack chains and cut off the enemy combo. You can use retribution to takedown an enemy with a depleted balance bar. There are actually multiple combo strings unlike Black Myth Wukong square spam. There are 2 sets of active skills. Grenades that can extend your stunlock combos. So much more.
Even their other game Nikke is amazing. Story is unlike anything I've ever seen in games. Many people will cry to it. But people are scared of hot women and even the fact that it’s a gacha and have a very closed mind to not even consider trying it or looking into what it’s actually about. There is a valid argument about realism and immersion and making a consistent game world. But for me who cares, it's a videogame and you play a videogame with the expectation of it being a videogame that can have whacky and outlandish things in it. You don't need immersion and you don't need to pretend the world is real. Plenty of AAA games do this, so it’s nice to have a game that breaks out of that once in awhile.

I mean without Eve its still a great game (at least how it looked to me as I dun have console), but bcoz I know Shift Up as a studio developing cultured games like Destiny Child and Nikke my expectation on eye candy characters is already high. If its others studios then I wont qualm over it.

Eve is fine asf but I didn't beat the game because Eve is dummy THICC, I beat it because it was a fun game with a good story.

The game is awesome I love it 100% but the pervs narrative is counter productive to what real gamers are asking developers to change . People complain about a characters looks and try to cancel some games for such things but then turn around and play games like stardew valley or mine craft where the characters 0 visual assets . The toxicity in the gaming space has gotten out of hand especially because it is being perpetuated by grifter influencers like Vara Dark and many others that are bringing maga style politics into the gaming space and dragging it for content and views from people that aren't even buying many games in the first place and never where . Stellar Blade and Wukong are definitely in the top 10 of all times and I've been around since the actual beginning of gaming. The toxic part of the community are the most heard and the loudest part of the community and they are providing bad spokesmen to represent the gaming community like we all agree or something. I definitely love what you said and I totally agree. The sad thing is we are going to end up having to be very vocal about speaking against other gamers and influencers that are making the outcomes of our gaming experience nonconducive to us . Some things should be kept to yourself but since the introduction of social media a lot of people have thrown that life lesson out the window . We have been getting almost 70% of remakes of games because the toxic cancel culture has made a lot of development teams so fearful of being innovative that they are just playing it safe to keep their jobs and avoid the whining. This affects people that have been gaming for a very long time because we anticipate the new innovations we don't wanna play games we played years ago we stuck it out to see what new adventures await and are having those things interfered with for very stupid and nonsensical reasons from people that complain about spending $70-$90 yet think every game is supposed to be made for them then if it's not they want to gather hate groups to promote the tanking of the games sales . That is some over-privileged , intrusive,greedy, childish behavior. All of this needs to stop to correct the balance in gaming and make room for truly valid complaints and requests to be heard and addressed in gaming by developers. All the hate mongering is counter productive and contributes to the retaliatory responses that fell on games like stellar blade and wukong.

Unfortunately this game (and the eventual sequel) wont truly get its flowers until yrs from now. It's like people cant grasp that a game like this can have a super attractive female character AND be a good game. True fans appreciate this game beyond Eve. While the story telling & character development arent the best it makes up for it with the combat/music/visuals. Its funny how people complain how badly the women look in games an that it makes the game more immersive but when u get a beautiful women no one talks about the game or ignore how great the game is because they only focus on the character.

1) On one hand, you have the media that took offense to Eve’s looks and tried to lower that meta score/ vote against it. (Some not all.)
2) On the other hand, you have fans that all they do is excessively talk and post images about Eve’s sexual appeal instead of the actual game. This behavior deceived potential newcomers into thinking the game is a sex simulator rather than an action game.
Sadly, there’s only few of us that actually know and praised the game for its performance, gameplay, music and overall polish.
Stellar blade has the potential to be up their with Final fantasy remake and rebirth all they have to do for stellar blade 2 is work on the character building and get it on the level of a final fantasy game and mass effect 2 and then they need to get world designers for horizon forbidden West and keep their puzzles and side quest maybe they can even do some side characters missions for lily. Maybe a tacy or raven side content
I honestly think the OST in this game is only matched by a couple of games I've played like Doom or MGRR. The combat is really satisfying, I loved how it starts like like soulsborne evolves towards a hybrid DMC. It's all about the anime-esque animations, Eve and the clinging sound of the parry. Unfortunately, the story doesn't take off till the last 3rd.
I think GOTY needs a lot more than just the combat, but this game is an easy pick for action game award.

I was disappointed with the narrative and writing. I was disappointed with Eve as a character, who had little to no compelling personality or characterization, and falls short compared to 2B in Nier Automata, who had actually compelling, engaging character writing. I almost wish Tachy was the main protagonist of the game instead, and arguably has a far better character design, with a nice hornet motif. There would have been so much narrative potential if Tachy was the player character, and who shows far more personality in the first ten minutes of the game than Eve does in 40+ hrs.
I say all this as a professional writer, who went to school for this stuff.
I do still love the game but yes I 100% agree eve doesn't have much of a personality she only really makes any decisions at the very end. However I also want to make the difference that eve is very young tachy raven and even lily are older than hrr and have had time to develop personalities eve was essentially created put through training and immediately sent in this mission so for most of the game she's simply following orders she doesn't really show much initiative until the very end. Hopefully this gets addressed in a sequel or expansion now that she has some life experience (same thing applies to 2b who's gone through multiple variations of the same story with 9s and has had time to mold her personality) not excusing the fact that eve is very bland just offering a reason as to why that might be
@jxavier0423 Eve only shows any emotion right at the start of the game, during the beach assault. After that it's just her British monotone demeanour for the majority of the game.
She has little to no thoughts or opinions of her own about the world around her, and, more often than not, only says exposition and whatever else is necessary for the player to get to the next objective. I would have loved it if Eve commented every time you tied on the various unlockable outfits and gave her opinions on them, it would have brought out more personality and not just be a doll for the player to dress up.
At this point, Eve may as well just be a blowup doll. Imagine if her backstory was rewritten so that Eve was originally a Love Doll robot from a brothel that was retrofitted and modified for warfare. Not only would it admittedly be funny, but it would make her design make more sense from a narrative perspective.
All I see online about this game is gooner bait.. so you can blame those people on how this game is perceived.

I really liked it, the boss battles are amazing! But honestly, it's hard to take the game seriously when she dresses like that when she's supposed to be a warrior 😂 people will hate me for saying it but I'd much prefer if she would wear some sort of armour or anything resembling a battle suit

There’s multiple suits that don’t sexualize her. You don’t like that she’s curvy. Would you have a problem if she was skinny like Ellie from last of us 2? No curves in sight? Or more like Abby with more resemblance to a male body builder than a woman in her early twenties? Tell me which one is more realistic for the average woman? And also this is a video game where we are supposed to embrace the fantastical. Kratos, Dante, Leon Kennedy, Joel, Nathan Drake, Arthur Morgan, Master Chief, Shepherd, etc. Those are all peek male archetypes, but you don’t see a bunch insecure men going around complaining that they’re too attractive or whatever. Stop trying to change things that people enjoy. Don’t play and call it a day. Go play life is strange if you want boring female characters with the bodies of a stick.

What makes this kinda funny is that the people who hate on this game because DEI and whatnot think that winning an award means something. MONEY talks. If a game sells well, then the studio knows (or should know as some tend to drop the ball) to follow the formula again whether it's a sequel or something similar to what they made. The award may be nice, but it doesn't really mean much.
The combat just isnt fun to me, and the lack of dofferent weapons and moves really get boring by the middle of the game, let alone the end

I finished this game and out side of the combat and ost there isn't much there. The story and characters are bland. Yes, Eve is attractive, but that doesn't make the game. I've never seen anyone praise this games story or any type of praise to these characters and their motivations.
