One of my favorite video game soundtracks of all time! Crazy how much variety there is while also staying true to a consistent tone and sound; such a great blend of classical, rock, and electronic genres!!
This is the OST of the year for me. I've actually listened to many tracks a lot since playing. Of course I picked it back up for the DLC, but the whole year has been MONACO and Shift Up for me! Stand out tracks are Flooded Commercial District, Raven's Theme, Star Descent, and Tachy' Theme.
@1:39:30 Stellar Blade is going through the same issues as NieR Automata did in the past. It took that game years for the gooner stigma to dial down and for most people to give it a chance. I’m currently doing another new game+ to enjoy the nier costumes and see another ending. And i can 100% tell, the whole OsT is what drives me to go through it all over again without a second doubt. The atmosphere + action pieces and gameplay is just chef kiss. And to boot, the ambience’s theme of both Wasteland and Great Desert has been replaced with Automata’s ost, it such a joy to explore it with a new and nostalgic vibe. Raven’s theme is such a blast, it’s basically ingrained in my mind as i’ve tried and died so many times on boss challenge on hard mode 😂 i just wished we got more exposed focus on her descent into anger/madness, and not as a last resort reveal. She is my favorite trope. Lastly, i’ll come back later to check out your analysis on the Elder Naytiba, as i only did the “true ending “ (the providence fight with the second outcome) and don’t wanna spoil it. But the whole ending just felt like a setup for a sequel with mother sphere.
I just want people to know the game is more than just a game for loser guys to look at a pretty girl. The gameplay is complex and fun. Also the soundtrack is easily one of the best video game soundtracks I’ve ever heard.
@@conradsmith9441yup, i found that out after I started it when it came out. I was so negative about it at first, being a nier copy and what not, which it still is don't get me wrong but by the end it has it's own personality and along with the music and fun gameplay it just works. One of my favorite games now
My favorite OST of 2024 by far, and easily one of my favorites of all time. It's not even the Monaca-produced stuff that makes it stand out to me, it's everything else! Also, just letting you and anyone else know Shift Up does have the full album uploaded on RUclips in 2 parts and is much better quality than the old fan uploads. There aren't any jarring cuts that splice together phase changes like in boss fights such as Elder Naytiba. They also aren't missing some of the first few intro moments in some songs.
thank you so much for doing this. music in video games truly is special, and throughout the 24 years i've been alive, i've never had a more emotionally profound listening experience playing a game before. many of the tracks can bring me to tears effortlessly. the story of the game is simple at first, and from a traditional narrative complexity perspective, it really is simple overall, but the music, visual details, and fundamentally human themes blend together so wonderfully, and it really is one of my favorite game stories because of this. i'm so fucking grateful for this game, it's the best game i've ever played, i hope more people around the world shed their preconceptions and give it a try, it's just such an amazing audiovisual and emotional experience, the gameplay is just a cherry on top. thank you for sharing your passion with others, and for sharing the joy of this soundtrack with others!
I was listening to this OST when I was driving to see family for Thanksgiving. I will be listening to it again on the drive back. This OST is beyond exceptional.
I just finished the game. I was sooo captured by the gameplay, lore and of course music. I was playing like for days straight, 40 hours almost non stop. And when I finally reached the end, I started to listen to the OST from youtube playlists. It's nothing like I heard in years, great game, great success and great music. Thanks for checking it up 🖤
It’s either Stellar Blade or Metaphor Refantazio for soundtrack of the year in my opinion, but I much prefer Stellar Blade. The fact that I prefer this over Metaphor is crazy because Persona easily has some of my favorite music in video games. I love jazzy, complex, interesting, and different music. This game is probably not GOTY…but it does have the most diverse, impressive, complex, beautiful, and immersive soundtrack. Its soundtrack is easily with the best such as the Persona games, Zelda games, and Mario games in my opinion. This soundtrack may even be my favorite soundtrack of any video game yet. Thank you so much for telling me the complete soundtrack is FINALLY out on Spotify and Apple Music. I’ve been listening to RUclips videos and constantly checking, thanks for telling me!
Flooded Commercial Center, Memory Tower, Shelter and Elder Naytiba all have the same motif and it's awesome that that tragic loss is revisited in that final fight. Same goes for Lily's intro song, Lily's Atelier, Signal from the Colony and Providence all have the same and that fear of losing Lily is there in that final fight. I really don't think any OST gets close to the overall body of work here nor have I ever listened to any other OST outside of the game as much as I have Stellar Blade. It's insanely great. Also, my GOTY and I've played Wukong, Metaphor, Final Fantasy Elden Ring DLC.
Memory tower (right before you go into hall of records), arisa, desert reboot a & b, wasteland reboot a & b, lily’s atelier, everglow, star descent, silent street, im in love with the whole soundtrack so much that im working on my own english version of a few songs
Stellar Blade has the best OST for me this year followed by GB Relink and Metaphor. Stellar blade has more standouts to me but when Relink goes hard...it goes hard.
My favorite game soundtrack of the year. Thanks for this man. I wish more people would talk about the amazing music in this game. It easily competes with any game soundtrack ever.
Stellar Blade might actually be THE game for me this year. I held out playing it until the PS5 Pro launched, and man did it pay off. And would you know, the Nier: Automata DLC launched shortly after
If you're fan of Shift Up ablity to recapture Nier feel ost to Stellar blade, i recommend the underated ost they created for the Nier collab in Nikke (In the shadow, Oblivion, Beyond the star)
really the whole of Nikkes OST is great and should be talked about by more people, unfortunately people dismiss the game because they percieve it as only a fanservice game
The Nikke OST in general is phenomenal. Lovely Lonely Cat was the first song I listened to, and I ended up listening to other tracks since. Satellites has been on constant repeat.
When I realized that Providence is a remix of Lily's theme it hit even harder for me Also in my mind there is no way that Adam is more of a villain than Mother Sphere. She literally kicked the entire game off by trying to wipe out humanity in the first place. You could argue that Adam creating her in the first place makes him a villain but I don't see it that way. The Naytiba are a side effect of Mother Sphere committing genocide on humanity in the first place. Backed into a corner humans started doing wild shit and it backfired.
It literally sent chills down my spine. As for Adam, him creating Mother Sphere was in good faith. But in the end, she became sentient and had strong disdain for the humans and felt they were unworthy. In the end, his creation bested him in a sense.
If you like the vocal themes of stellar blade, I think you should check out the ost of FF13-2, its what i consider to be my favourite soundtrack of all time because of how well it uses vocals in its music and honestly on a good day it is on par with nier automata and stellar blade for me as my top 3 favourite video game osts

I would love if Stellar Blade wins Best OST, but I think Metaphor will win due to overall reception (i.e. "Coomer game" vs "Persona 6"). I hope to be wrong.
The music in this game managed to capture the essence of what game music should be. Nowadays, we have more cinematic music in games that, despite fitting well in the scenes, is not memorable. Some stellar Blade's OST is verry reminiscent of 2000s pop music, which helps to bring nostalgia. Curiosity: Most of the sung songs use gibberish mixed with Korean and English words, this makes them even more unique.
The tracks do not use gibberish. Every song is in English or Korean, with some using a mix of both. The only "gibberish" is when a hum or ha is duplicated as an instrument like in the little robot guy's theme.
To me, having attractive characters in games just contributes to the escapism most of us want to feel when we boot up a a game. I find the "coomer bait" criticism has very little ground to stand on when so many previous good games with revealing character designs never got that criticism and never deserved it either. It would be "coomer bait" if the game didn't even try to be something special and completely relied on a lewd main character and on throwing suggestive scenes in the story to keep the player's attention but that's clearly not the case. The only fan-service elements are at the player's discretion, that being outfits and photo mode poses.
Clearly the soundtrack of the year only secunded by Metaphor, It shares so many emotions, from sadness, hope, anger, it has it all. And Raven, beloved raven, she's knows the truth and she lost her mind for it and the song exactly tell you that.

@@MarcoMeatball perhaps i should have worded that better. the video cut it out, which just so happened to be the one you used. didn't mean to blame you personally for that, sorry.
The only odd thing about Belial is that the boss is said to be the first hateful enemy Eve faces per Eve's dialog. This works well with the deeper aspects of the story. Most of the Naytiba are just surviving, but the Belial... Belial hates Eve and humans. The same is true for the Karakuri and later the Democrawler. The further you make it into the game, the more advanced enemies seem smarter and we are told by the character that in battle they felt as if they basically wanted to wipe Eve and the humans off the face of the Earth. What makes that strange is that Belial's theme seems... pretty upbeat. [Edit: corrected a typo and ultimately wrapped with a final statement that makes sense with the disconnect I alluded to in my opening.]

I really hope you discuss the Unidentified Naytiba track.
My replay 21:14
timestamp guy wya
nice
So much of this is also Sawano pilled
My brother, you were doing so so well, until you committed the grave sin of excessive pausing during the Elder Naytiba sound track, to interject your opinions. First, let the music flow the play out, then go back and interject all those wonderful opinions.
Sorry dude my house my rules ☺️😉
HELLO everyone please watch Lara Croft Vs Helena Douglas from Kosmic the RUclipsr!
The plot , writing and delivery of it, is the bad part of this game, music is good tho
Hey Macro you should try Metaphor OST I think it’s better than Stellar Blade OST
