    It’s great you stuck with it and gave us some real world testing. I was cynical when I saw the advert, now I’m just sceptical that this is good for hiking given the 15 minute wait. I’ll stick with traditional repellent and nets.

    Thank you for your honest review. I used to have the battery operated OFF! Clip-On Mosquito Repellent and it really worked well. I used it around our campground @ Yosemite and it was amazing. I left it on overnight to see how effective it was and the following morning there were a lot of dead mosquitos and they were pretty good sized ones. Too bad I don't see it being sold anymore.

    Thank you for doing real life tests!
    And yeah these things dong work so great because they don’t get hot enough. That’s why the popular Thermacell repelant device uses butane gas and a flame to heat the pads - because it actually gets really hot.

    • @karolisliutkevicius2223
      @karolisliutkevicius2223 Год назад +2

      Thermacell is bigger and requires bigger pads + buying butane gas cartridges. That’s annoying and expensive. But yeah, it works.

    • @paulc4040
      @paulc4040 Год назад

      this isn't true. i have a butane thermacell and i just tested it with same laser thermometer i used on the Flextail. the thermacell silver plate overall was around 165-180F with a very small spot just a little lower than center that showed 210F. i left it on for 1 hour and tested it. this is in the same range as the Flextail which on outdoor mode measures around 165-180F. the literature is definitely wrong about Celsius and Fahrenheit it should be Fahrenheit only.

    I have a unit, mosquitoes landed on it while in the highest setting. Absolute fail. Just got back from a week camping in Montana where I live. Tried multiple times, different locations. Save your money, DOES NOT WORK!!!

    Thanks for the great review! Do you have any serial/registration number or the number on the bar code on the 10-pack package for the new pads? I got mine today but the middle part seems to be a bit bluish in colour with black sides so I want to know if this is not the newest one that you just reviewed. Also on the individual wrap, it says: 5mg prallethrin and 5mg meperfluthrin per piece. Is yours any different? Thanks.

    I see you got it to work (new pads)?? Mine was working from day 1 with the blue pads. I had mine in my tent doorway. Hanging up. We use them against “midges” in the uk 🇬🇧 tiny flying biting horrors not as bad as mozzys. There was a swarm of midges outside my tent above the repel. They wouldnt go near it. I tried it many times since. Never got bothered. It’s a strange one. Works for some but I also got feedback saying it didn’t work?? Maybe the insects are also progressing 😂😂😂

    I’ve learned that with those style repellants they work better when you keep them lower to the ground. These create a protective bubble. You have it way to high on the tripod. You need it lower for the bubble to fit around you. I sometimes even set them on the ground. If you put on tripod just set it much lower to the ground. I also clip them to my cargo pants near the lower pocket or belt when working and moving around. Sometimes I clip to a bag or tackle bag or camp chair. But lower is always better. Give us an update. GOD bless!

      It was about at my waist level on the pod. I sat on a chair so it’s almost eyes level. My first test was on the chair. It turned out it was the bad pads the sent me the first shipping. This was the third test and it seems to work with the new improve pads. I don’t think height is matter unless you hang 8 feet higher or more.

  • @andybrown9190

    My only comment would be is that where you have the unit on the stand, is it not too high? The unit is hot producing vapours and as we know hot air rises. So maybe everything below the unit is fair game. They do sell a tripod to have the unit low to the ground when camping, so when the vapour rises from it you are inside the vapour bubble as it were.

      No man, I had it at chest level. But it works now because of the new improve pads they sent me. If you watch half way through , mosquitoes stopped at about coming.First test I had it at me knees level. So it not level. I had it on my tripod

    I'm not sure that 1or 2 bug = a fail... Maybe not a huge win.. but what would it have been if you turned it off for 5-10 min?

    well im not buying it, it should not take three new improved pads. i trust thermacell, it works, dont care how much it costs, i know it works and i dont have to deal with them skeeters.
