This is such a brilliant remix of the track. I love it. Only makes me wish John Hurt and Derek Jacobi actually shared a scene as the War Doctor and War Master. How marvelous that would have been.
I concur. With the War Doctor Begins, there is the hope that we can still get a story with the War Doctor and War Master, though it's obviously not the same without Sir John Hurt himself in the role of the Doctor. (Credit where it's due though, Jonathan Carley does a great voice.)
I can expect that during the time war, it'd be hard to remember where and what any relevant Time Lord looked like with events being constantly rewritten and undone. Also, Professor Yana acted so radically different from the Master, I'd imagine even the Doctor would find it difficult to discern his true identity.
War Mars-ter. Like it. What a shame we didn't see much of Jacobi being an actual Master on screen. He's such a great actor and the Big Finish stuff is excellent.
I’m honestly surprised Day of the Doctor didn’t have the War Master in it. Like he was trying to escape the Time War but the method he was trying would have destroyed the universe or something.
@@crimsondynamo615 I think trying to include the Master in that story would be hard considering what was already in it. And plus, he explained exactly how he fled the Time War- ran all the way to the end of the universe and turned himself human so the Time Lords & Daleks couldn’t find him.
@@crimsondynamo615 they actually go to in depth on that in big finish stories, and how the war master fuck up with one of his schemes so bad he basically made the time lord lose so he ran
It works better that he's just in Big Finish; they're not limited by screen or budget, so they can have him do really bad shit whenever they want him too...
Oh my! Just the intro alone sent chills up and down my spine. Loved how you slowed it down, and you even added the recently unveiled (in volume 5) extra bits for the theme.
I’ve only gotten around to listening to the first box, but the third story in that box is one I found genuinely mind blowing. I can’t remember being blown away by a single story like that...
The name you chose - all those years ago - back on Gallifrey. Doctor. Now, apart from it's humanitarian goals and that it means *healer* - it also means *tutor* - it means *teacher* Whereas *I am a MASTER* We both want the same thing... it's merely our, hm, *ambition* that separates us.
This is the exact kind of feeling music wise for something that is some advanced celestial being and isn't human but looks like in, hiding in plain sight...
The thing I love the most about this theme is how much it sounds like the theme of a typical “alien invader”. Like, flying saucers, laser weapons, all that jazz And somehow it still fits The Master to a T. At his core, he is an alien threat aiming to make the whole of reality kneel.
@@tako_kawaii1749 The Master easily. He would take over the empire in 45 minutes. Any Time Lord would find the force "amusing" and the empire's technology "stone age" at best. Absolutely loved working on this... truly gorgeous arrangement
And you’ve made a truly awesome video, beyond anything I could’ve expected. Here’s hoping someone will hire us 😂
I have a doctor who universe story of a new time lord I’m writing. It probably will go nowhere but I’d be interested
