- A Phase I study co-led by UHN & Sunnybrook is using focused ultrasound for the first time to open the blood brain barrier and deliver a drug to a targeted part of the brain in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Though cautiously optimistic, researchers hope this early finding could one day pave the way to new treatments and hopefully a cure, for Parkinson’s.

Best of luck for all the hard work. Wish you luck.
Thank you!
My brother in law asked about this and was told it could only be done for 1 side of the brain. Any neurologists out there with a reply as to why?
I believe it can be done to both but there has to be a wait between procedures. I think I read 6 months but I'm not certain enough to be sure!
@@Au-gw3ow Thank you. Have a blessed day.
I’m worried about what else can get into the brain once the barrier is removed.
I didn't think about this...
