I was an assistant in the early 80s in Boston and this guy called and asked me to let my boss know he'll be late for their meeting because his plane was still circling Logan. I asked how he was calling if he was still on the plane and he said from the phone on the plane. I excitedly said, "That is SO cool," and he totally lost his business persona and responded like an excited kid, "I know, right?!!"
Matt is Awesome! I can't wait to see the movie tonight! He is such a great person. Support his new production team. It's a great charity supporting the workers behind the scenes more.
OK. Don't cream yourself, Donald. I wasn't aware that the staff working off the cameras were child slave labor being paid 50c for every 12 hour daily shift. I usually donate to famine victims or Third World kids going blind because they can't afford $3 of penicillin. Now I'll give to those poor Hollywood filmmaking staff who have to get by on $2,000 per week, rather than the $20M per movie of the A-list stars.
Waryaa. He only lives / waits there. He does go out occasionally. (His great sense of humor made me a bigger fan of Matt.) (P.S. I think his & Kimmel's visit to a marriage counselor helped too)
My mom had a car phone in her Honda Prelude in the 80s. I think we used it three times. We used my dads C-B all the time. He’d let me chat with truckers on long road trips for soccer games. They were always cool.
I have loved Matt's movies since Good Will Hunting and I think it actually helps him to stay grounded when his 16 year old daughter tells him she doesn't like his movies. I remember some years ago when Pierce Brosnan was being interviewed on a talk show and he said that at home he definitely doesn't get treated like a movie star. In fact he said that his children think he is a "buffoon". I guess even some of the best actors need that reality check lol.
The '80s came through strongly in this film. The '80s was before I was an adult. The phones were interesting. What's scary is that I can remember when phones were like that, and I have watched the evolution from boxy-looking landlines, to the flip cell phones in the 2000's, to the sleeker models we use today. Something about seeing Matt Damon in an 80s car calling Ben Affleck on an 80s cell phone made me laugh.
The Great wall was no Oscar winner, but still fun. Matt and Pedro Pascal, the reason it did not show a box office profit was mostly because of the negative backlash of a Caucasian actor plying the lead hero in a Chinese movie. I saw it at home on my 65 inch and it was a good popcorn stay at home time.
I've dug so many of his movies, through the years. I had a low-level job on Behind The Candelabra... no disrespect, just an observation: His noggin is larger than average. Not Tony Robbins large, of course. [compare it to Seth's, for example.]
@@MsWarriordiva Sorry if I offended you with my observation of Matt Damon. Just calling like I saw it when he was about 5 feet from me, during that shoot. It stood out in my mind then, and it's what I see from time to time. He's a great actor and he's done some drastic weight changes for some of his roles that also affect the proportion. ie: Courage Under Fire he was super skinny. Again, my apologies for offending you.
Thanks for confirming that, @EdwoodCA ! I was just asking about that a few threads up, and I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice. The difference is quite striking, and your observation was in no way offensive. The _Cicada, Cicada_ costumers will find that information very helpful when preparing the headgear for Matt's cameo.
Oh, this movie is so good. I really believe I'm going to see it again. Mrs.Jordan, your son picked one heck of an actress to portray you. Viola Davis did such a beautiful job. " ... I'm sure it was a mistake that the percentage of the sales of the shoes be paid to Michael was left out of the contract. ..."
I must admit that even though I'm a New Yorker, Boston (Matt Damon's) home town does have a treasure I bow to to this day. I'm not ashamed to say that I was and will be for the rest of my life a fan of Larry Bird and his 1980s Celtics. I remember them. Bird, DJ, Ainge, McHale and Parrish. But Birds trash talk and delivering to help the Celtics win multiple championships is the kind of swag we New Yorkers are known for such as Babe Ruth calling his own home run, Reggie Jackson becoming Mr. October or our many singers, actors and comedians born here in New York. I still can not bring myself to kiss the ring of Big Papi and the Red Sox in the 2000s. But, Larry Legend is a God of God's. So, the same beautiful way Boston saluted Derek Jeter on his final game which happened in Boston, I salute Larry Bird. Oh and yes I will give a very very quick applause to the Red Sox for clapping Jeter off in his final game. Now... let's get back to the rivalry with Aaron Judge as our new captain. Let's Go Yankees (clap clap clap clap clap).
In the mid 80s I worked at The good Guys electronics store in Stonestown SF, CA. My buddy said he knew a guy that could activate this new cell phone. So I had my bro buy something cheap and bring his receipt to the pickup window. We did call people to tell them we're calling from the car. Every couple of miles the phone would switch towers, and there's be a few seconds of silence. We did lots of stupid stuff back then 😉
Well can you blame her Matt. I mean how many times would a daughter want to watch her father get saved again and again and again throughout time. That trillion dollars spent achievement saving you is just around the corner. When it comes to space you are right at the 50/50 mark. Half the time ya get saved. The other half you blow things up... ALL EPIC MOVIES!!!!! Keep em coming!
LMAO! Apparently I don't watch enough movies. No idea what The Last Dance is, never head of their movie either. I canceled my Cable years ago, and I have add blockers on the internet, so you miss a lot with no commercials. 😁😁
I don't really gush over celebrities but Matt Damon has to be the nicest guy in Hollywood. Back in the 90s when it was "Matt vs. Leo", Matt took the normal cool guy route while Leo went the weird reclusive actor route.
"Get some _sleep,_ Matt!' Dude's hustlin' from one gig to another, and not actually sleeping in between. So I guess it's like, Finish the movie, Rest up for a bit, then Go Like Hell to promote it. You hear about it, but to see it on his face (and on Kimmel, etc). Pretty interesting. Love the Damonator, though.
The '80s weren't all bad. Transformers, G.I. Joe, probably the best, and most diverse (both good and bad) era of music in modern times that hasn't really been topped and probably never will and similarly with the creativity in movies (why do you think so many shows now focus on the '80s?), the rise of arcades and the home consoles. It was great being a teen in the mid '80s and very early '90s.
In about 1988, driving around in my beater truck, I carried a real phone handset with the spiral cord hanging off the end of it. When I would pull up to a yuppie in their fancy car talking on the phone, I would make fun of them by putting that handset up to my ear and let the cord hang out the window pretending to talk to someone!
Seth, what about the interview about the film? SUBSTANCE, please talk show hosts...don't be afraid to give it to the audience, they are not as stupid as one might think.
Matt was so good in AIR. Terrific performance. So glad he and Ben are back making movies together!
I fully agree! Love them both individually and especially as a duo!
He was absolutely amazing
Matt is always a joy to listen to
Matt is one of our favorite & inspiring actors, he is really loving & caring husband & father
I love Matt Damon interviews. The one with Graham Norton and the Monuments Men promo 🤣🍻
"Dad, there's nothing great about that movie" 😂😂😂
Savage
For real there is nothing more heartwarming than hearing Matt and his daughter tear into that piece of Chinese crap.
It seems like Matt is really happily married. I'm glad that worked out 😊😁😊
we'll continue after the break

Love Matt Damon. One of my favorite actors.
Matt has the most down to earth interview style. I think it must speak to his character
I thought Matt hardly left Jimmy Kimmel's dressing room.
Lol. When he isn't sneaking time with Kimmel's wife! (JK anyone who doesn't know the joke!)

The sound track for Air is awesome- great movie!!!
I think those are two really nice guys.
idk why, but these interviews feel short...just when it gets going into a good story, oh! times up! thanks for being here.
I crushed the 90s and early 2000s for sure. Best years ever
Matt Damon looks in shape, he must be preparing for the next Bourne movie. He was made for that role. Love the Bourne movies.
I hope not. The last Bourne was awful and I kinda refuse to believe it’s part of the canon
He and Paul is kinda done with the franchise. Even the storyline will feature the same thing all over again if they continue doing it
I just picture Heidi Gardner playing MJ’s security guy.😆
My favorite actor of all time! I missed you Matt!

The guy with the fake car phone 😂😂😂
One of my favorites! Love love love his movies
Great actor so handsome!
Great story about the ole roommate! 🤣💕👍
Seth, YOU did not age. Matt is starting to look like Ray Liotta, the late and great actor.
But you're both awesome! RIP Ray!
It was the make up
To be fair, I’m pretty sure there were a good 2 decades where Matt absolutely did not age, not that he looks even remotely bad for his age now.
I think when Seth has teenagers at home, he'll start to age, too.
People don't age until 48 or 49 or so, then it all happens in five years
@@ac4181 , men wait until they're in their 60s to really age, while women start nearer 50. One of the cruelest injustices.

Yeah, I really like old tech. Its disgusting the way it gets tossed aside and trashed!
It felt more legit
Do you remember the era of the beautiful, but horridly fragile moterola flip phones?
How about pre-mototola flip? Early widely available 'mobile' Motorola phones. Early 90's. One style. Heavier than most landlines..😊
The old ones were big like a Get Smart shoe phone.
A lovely interview.😁
Nice he could find a late night host that had time for him to be on the show😂

GREAT interview! So natural amd wonderful to see 👌😎
it is always good to hear about you and Ben, matt !
Matt was terrific on SNL…he even did the cheerleader bit! He was also hilarious on Will and Grace, trying out for the Gay Men’s Chorus as a fake gay.😂
My high school BFF's mom had a car phone in the 70's!!!!! A guy I dated in the 90s had a car phone, too. How far we've come!!
Isabella Damon and Violet affleck are probably best friends. They’re both savage. 🤣
I think Matt Damon's daughter and Jimmy Kimmel would get along swimmingly!
Sorry Seth and crew. Kimmel's long game with Damon is hilarious. I'm glad you interviewed him.
I like The Great Wall and have seen it twice.

Incredible that amongst his credits no one says: and the actor with the best cameos ever...
